SEBLOD: a Powerful Joomla Content Builder

It's really great to be able to talk with people who are pushing the boundaries of their software.

The Octopoos team is really expanding what can be done with Joomla. They make an content-building extension called SEBLOD which is a very flexible and highly-regarded. They also use SEBLOD to build sites for the likes of General Electric, Unilever and Lipton Tea.

We have a new video class on SEBLOD this week. We also interviewed the team to find out more about this really impressive extension.

New Video Class: SEBLOD for Joomla

In this week's new Joomla class, James Morrell shows you how to build a restaurant website using SEBLOD, a content construction kit (CCK) for Joomla!.

If you need more than just a title and body for your Joomla content, then SEBOLD is a really good option.

With the help of SEBLOD, you can build complete content types and layouts while still using the Joomla content area to add your articles.

SEBLOD is used to power sites for several famous companies including General Electric and Lipton Tea.

All OSTraining Extensions are Moving to Alledia.com

We have some news today about all the Joomla extensions currently hosted on OSTraining.

We're moving almost all those extensions from OSTraining.com to Alledia.com.

Why are we doing this? There are 3 main reasons:

Clarity: OSTraining.com is a training site and it was confusing to also host software here.
Ambition: We want to make our extensions great, and not just a small feature on OSTraining.com.
Resources: Developing great extensions isn't cheap. We need room to provide financial support for our developers.

Drupal 7.32 is an Absolutely Necessary Update

We're accustomed to the Drupal security team releasing security fixes.

Fortunately, most of the fixes were relatively minor. They either impacted a small group of sites, or they were unlikely to lead to your site being hacked.

Let's take a brief look at the 4 previous Drupal security advisories in 2014:

Track Google Analytics Clicks and Downloads in Joomla

Over the last week, several people have asked us about tracking Google Analytics "events" on their Joomla site.

"Events" describe anything from clicking on an external link to leave your site or downloading a file from your site.

Advanced Google Analytics is a plugin that can track all the events you need. Here's how to set it up and use it:

OSWistia - Add Wistia Videos to Joomla

Whenever you watch videos at OSTraining, you watch videos streamed from Wistia.com.

Since 2013, all our training and blog videos have been hosted by Wistia. You can read our post from last year to see why we like Wistia so much,

To make publishing our videos easier, we built a Joomla extension called OSWistia. We've now released OSWistia for free so that anyone can use it.

This is the 15th Joomla extension that we've published.

Here's how to use OSWistia ...
