The 20 Most Popular Drupal 7 Modules

One of the most common questions we get from new Drupal users is, "Which modules do people normally use?"

That's a big question, with over 20,000 modules, but some are far more popular than others.

Webchick, one of the Drupal core developers, has used the statistics available on Drupal.org to make a list of the most popular Drupal 7 modules. This is different from the public stats on Drupal.org module pages, which show the popularity of modules across all versions.

Here's an introduction to the 20 most popular Drupal 7 modules:

New Books: Drupal Commerce and Zurb Foundation 4

Every month we release one new book for OSTraining members. Except this month.

For July we're releasing two books: "Building E-Commerce Sites with Drupal Commerce" and also "Zurb Foundation 4".

Drupal Commerce has long been one of our most requested topics. Not only are we adding the book this week, but later this month we'll also provide a full video series on Drupal Commerce.

Zurb Foundation is one the most popular CSS frameworks and is commonly compared to Bootstrap, which we've already covered extensively on this site.

What's in the New OSTraining Design?

Last week we launched a redesign of the OSTraining site.

The original OSTraining site design was launched all the way back 2008. We made some improvements since, but no radical changes.

This year we decided to completely redesign OSTraining and make the entire site mobile-friendly.

The whole process took about 6 weeks from start to finish.

In this post we'll take you through the new site and the tools that made it possible.

Join Us at DrupalCamp Colorado in August

DrupalCamp Colorado is taking place on the first weekend of August.

This is going to be a really interesting event. DrupalCamp Colorado is being held at the King Center, right in the heart of downtown Denver.

The camp's theme is "Large Scale Drupal" and they will focus on planning, building, deploying, running, and monitoring big sites.

OSTraining will be there again this year. We're also giving a complete 1-day introduction to Drupal and also a session called "The Absolute Beginners Guide to Views".

Free JoomlaPraise Templates and Extensions

JoomlaPraise is a Joomla company that provided outstanding templates and extensions.

However, the owners of the company recently moved to new jobs with large enterprise-level companies. You can watch one of the owners talk about his experience at Sears.

Producing new extensions and templates is a full-time job and the JoomlaPraise team weren't ready to work 24 hours a day.

Rather than see all that hard work go to waste, OSTraining has agreed to move 5 extensions and 17 templates from JoomlaPraise to OSTraining.com. Even better, everything is now free to download.
