Am I Boring You?
In my quest to self-publish and do it well, I have attempted to be very transparent. I figure there are a lot of people out there like me who are interested in self-publishing and like to see the numbers and experiments and such. However, I've noticed that a lot of my publishing related posts get way fewer comments than any other posts I make. So, rather than bore you all, I'd like to know if you are actually interested in self-pub or if I should spend my time on other subje...

I've beaten the median!
So, a couple months back, an article was posted on www.guardian.co.uk stating that half of self-published authors make less than $500 in a year. (That's the median... the average was $10,000, but that number is skewed by huge successes like EL James and Amanda Hocking.)
So, today, a year and two weeks since I published THE BROKEN, I tallied up all of the money I've made. Now, this only includes the money that has been paid out to me... Amazon takes two months or more to send out my roy...

Well, No More Chick-Fil-A For Me!
After reading this article on how Chick-Fil-A donates to anti-gay groups and that the president is anti-gay, I will no longer be eating at Chick-Fil-A.
I love Chick-Fil-A's food. It would be one thing if the president was only spending his own money, but the company money is being given to those anti-gay groups. Even indirectly, I will not fund such groups.
So, until the company decides to stop giving money to groups that want to take human rights away from people (happiness is a human righ...

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...
Since finishing KICKED FROM INSIDE, I've gone back to work on THE BET. This story started out as a Harry Potter fanfic idea more than four years ago. Since then, I've rewritten the plot to be a Star Trek fic and then an original fic. When I finally started writing it last year, the idea had been floating around in my mind so long that I had gotten attached to certain ideas and didn't want to change them.
Well, I've changed them. It took a lot of work for me to figure out the is...

Fic: Kicked From Inside - Chapter 18/18 (Kirk/Spock, NC-17)
Chapter Eighteen
Spock carefully fed his son through his feeding tube. He had only just begun to develop a sucking reflex. In about two weeks they would attempt to feed him using a bottle. Once he was able to eat on his own and regulate his own body temperature, Dr. McCoy would allow him to leave sickbay, though he would still be attached to monitors and potentially on oxygen.
After he finished the feeding, Spock placed his son back into the artificial womb. McCoy reattached the cord, and reset...

Fic: Kicked From Inside - Chapter 17/18 (Kirk/Spock, NC-17)
Chapter Seventeen
Jim greedily reached for his son as Bones pulled him out of the artificial womb.
Bones didn't relinquish Grayson. "Relax, Jim. You've got an entire hour with him, as long as his vitals stay strong. There's no need to rush."
"This is his first time leaving sickbay!" Jim carefully took his four-week-old son into his arms. He supported the head, as Bones had shown him, and carefully wedged him into his elbow. "Can you blame me for being excited?"...

Life Sucks
So, I have a master's degree in Special Education. Currently, I work as a cashier and I'm trying to find a job as a teacher because I HATE retail with all my heart. However, I'm not having much luck. Between work stress and job hunting stress, my anxiety levels are sky-high.
I'm not sure what to do at this point. I can't keep doing my job with the amount of stress it's causing me, but I can't stop doing my job without another one to fall back on. I'm exhausted,...

ARG and Question?
Came home from a decent day at work only to find my dad hollering at my brother. This is nothing new, as my brother is a lazy-ass brat who is neither going to school nor working and who my parents support fully even though he's almost 20.
However, nothing sets me off like my dad yelling. He's such a calm guy that when he's perturbed enough to yell, you know he means business. Neither of my parents are good at discipline, so growing up I always disciplined myself. (Hence why I...
