Lip Service
His fantasy revealed: blindfold, bound, vulnerable.
She sits astride him, fingers confidently dancing vibrato across his chest. Quicksilver kisses fall gently as scarlet snowflakes, decorating his pale torso in a random tattoo.
His body arches; beseeching. She bends, and from harlot lips a whispered word; one hot, smoky promise has him trembling like aspen.
“Ready?”
Mark Brown.

Eternal
“Don’t say it if you don’t mean it, Evan.”
“Sweetheart, when the angels come to take you home, I’ll keep my side of the deal.”
Thirty-three years ago today, the love of my life expired in this house.
The pact; never fall in love again.
Women have died, but a promise is eternal.

Online Promises
Charlene applied more makeup – yes, she looked eighteen now. She imagined Dirk’s approval when finally meeting him.
She approached the secret rendezvous spot, when rusty van doors opened revealing a filthy, fat couple stinking of booze and sweat. Charlene realized too late as the trap ensnared her, what Dirk’s promise of a different life meant.

Ryan’s Promise
He lowered the barrel of his rifle, aiming it under Frank’s chin.
“You didn’t kill Serena, but you sure as hell coulda saved her!”
“You promised you wouldn’t kill me, Ryan.”
“Who I was, died with her. Now I promise you this much; I may or may not shoot you in the back. Start walking.”

Wrong Partner
“Do you promise to love, honour and obey….”
Candice looked from the ring that Joel was slipping onto her finger to the vicar.
In that instant she knew she had made a terrible mistake.
This wasn’t what she wanted at all. She had sworn to Heather that she wouldn’t do it.
And she couldn’t.

The Whispering Man
The door rattled like a loose tooth as the wind tried to pull little Oleg through the gap beneath the door. “Let me in.” The wind whispered.
“Never. I promised mother.” said Oleg.
“And where is she?” The wind said in a teasing howl.
Fear rose in sticky clumps in Oleg’s throat.

Prodigal Son
“I said I’d be back.”
“Peter?”
“25 years in the slammer kinda focuses the mind.”
“But…”
“You blamed me for what you did.”
“It wasn’t like that!”
“Oh, how and was it?”
“Put the hammer down son, let’s talk.”
“25 years to practise my swing.”
“Please…”
“I promised Ma, Dad…and I keep my promises.”

At My Door
I made a promise, one I did not want to respect.
But my time is up and he’s at my door to collect.
Every soft knock sends my heart through my chest.
A last sip of my drink, to the door I slowly crept.
Twenty-one grams promised and now… I have nothing left.

A Bargain’s A Bargain
“It can’t be my time yet,” said the old woman. “There are so many things I never did, places I never saw. There was never enough time.”
“There never is,” I said.
“What about her?” she pointed at her sleeping roommate.
“Nope. She said that about you.”
“But…”
“Come on. Even Death keeps his bargains.”

Oops!
Bleach fumes encompassed the hairs of my nose.
I saw a guy wearing a radioactive suit for clothes.
I received a dirty look as he cleaned.
He seemed to be the source, that dastardly fiend.
My stomach promised it was nothing more than gas.
I never knew anything would actually come out of my ass.
