“It can’t be my time yet,” said the old woman. “There are so many things I never did, places I never saw. There was never enough time.”

“There never is,” I said.

“What about her?” she pointed at her sleeping roommate.

“Nope. She said that about you.”

“But…”

“Come on. Even Death keeps his bargains.”
