On My Own - guest post by Angela Renee

Please welcome new author Angela Renee to the blog, with her debut release You Are Mine.
I don’t feel like giving up my age today, but when I was a child, the original Fame came out. For those of you who remember, Irene Cara sang this song titled Out Here On My Own. Two months or so ago when I realized my publishing date for my debut novel, You Are Mine, was quickly approaching and I had absolutely no online or offline presence, I thought that maybe I was biting off more than I could chew. ...

Raise the Stakes - guest post by Rayne Hall

Please welcome the fabulous Rayne Hall to my blog, with some great tips on writing fight scenes.
Twelve Tricks to Make a Fight Scene Exciting
by Rayne Hall
Creating a good fight scene is one of the most challenging aspects of the writer's craft. Here are techniques on how to give your readers the thrill they expect from a fight:
1.  Give each fighter a compelling purpose and raise the stakes as high as possible. A heroine fighting for her life is more exciting than a heroine fighting for he...

Interview with romance author Krystal Brookes

Please tell us a bit about yourself: I live on the west coast of Scotland where all it ever seems to do is rain.   I live alone but that suits me.  I don’t have to relinquish the TV remote or share the Pringles.  I started writing fan fiction in January 2011 and haven’t looked back.  Writing is my passion.  It’s just a shame it took me until now to realise it.
Tell us about Bounty: Bounty was originally written and published as part of the Dangerous Men, Dangerous...

Help, I need a Title!

Although the sequel to Keir still isn't ready to submit yet, one major problem with it that I'd like to solve right now is the title. Originally it was called Lost Serenity - I can't entirely explain why as that would be spoilers, but the double word play on Lost no longer applies. Since I can't call it just Serenity (I can hear the Firefly fans screaming at me now), I need a new title. But I'm struggling. So, I'm going to post the current blurb for the sequel and give you the list of ideas I...

Heart of the Dragon Tour - Guest Post by Myra Nour

Please welcome author Myra Nour to the blog at the end of her Heart of the Dragon tour.
Why Write Sci Fi Romance?
Why sci fi romance? Because I love sci fi and fantasy elements in stories, whether in books or on TV/movies. Through the years, I didn’t see a book that combined romance with s/f & fantasy, at least not in the way I envisioned. Then along came Dara Joy’s Knight of a Trillion Stars. Finally,a futuristic that inspired me. I wrote Love’s Captive in 1996 and after fumbling around a...

Pre-order the Print Copy of Keir

Last week my publisher - Lyrical Press Inc - announced the relaunch of print editions, fronted by Keir and Hard Core. I didn't have a formal date for release other than October, but after checking links and buttons last Sunday on the website I'm designing for myself, I made a fabulous discovery. You can now pre-order the print version of Keir on Barnes & Noble here! They're also listing the release date as the 28th October. Woo hoo!

I was surprised, to be sure. It's such a buzz to see it u...

A Symptom of what is wrong with our society

I don't normally talk about my children much on here, or post photos. While I love them and am proud of them, I'm hesitant about exposing too many details about them and my private life. It's all too easy to forget how much access the world has to your information via the internet. However, something happened yesterday that deeply affected me, and my daughter, and I need to write about it.

Over the last year, there have been various changes in my daughter and her classmates. Hormones are start...

Men In Black 3 - Review

Gen

Generally the only films I get to see these days are ones aimed mostly at children. I guess that's part of being a parent, and I don't have a problem with that. I'm finding more and more that often the kids films are so much better than those for the adults. So when my two oldest monsters begged to see Men in Black 3, I wasn't too unhappy about it. At least it's scifi, even if very silly scifi.

For me, the Men in Black films are very much 'leave your brain at home' comedy - entertaining and...
