Last Chance to Enter! And a Plotting Lesson
I'm over at the Bestsellerology site this month with a lesson on step-by-step plotting. It's a system I devised that's now seen me through six novels. The lesson goes up sometime today, so if you go over and it isn't up, check back.
If you're interested, throughout October I'm doing an intensive month-long workshop on plotting that will walk you through a whole novel and leave you with a finished outline, using JR Ward's DARK LOVER as our "textbook." This online workshop is being offered...

Enjoy a Book? Support the Author!
I've been wanting to post this for a while, but haven't had a free day. But the message below is true. The number of reviews--even one sentence reviews--a book has on Amazon, the most often that book comes up in an algorithm the website uses to appear in promotions. The more "likes" at the top of the listing page, the more often the author is promoted.
Does that mean you should go off and give five-star reviews to books you hated? Absolutely not. You can click one star if that's how you felt a...

Continue Playing Amongst Yourselves
I'm on a tight deadline, so no blog today. Come back tomorrow for a great interview with CJ Archer and a giveaway of her book.
Remember that the Preternatural Book Club will resume next Wednesday with the first six chapters of SKINWALKER, the first in Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series. This is my first time reading any from this author or series, and I'm loving it![image error]

New Releases Sept. 8-14 and Reader's Choice C*ntest
Remember how we’ve established that the first and last weeks of each month are heavy release days? Well, the other trend I’ve noticed in the couple of years I’ve been doing these lists is that the second week of the month is serious Young Adult time. So there’s not a huge list this week, and they’re almost entirely in the YA paranormal genre (although zombie fans might get some brain-food from the new Jonathan Maberry title). The good news? Some of the YA coming out these days ar...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

Wherefore Art Thou, Winners?
I’m on the road today, headed back from Naples, Florida, where I’ve been hanging out with fantabulous bookstore owners at the Southern Independent Booksellers Association convention. On the way back, I scheduled a stop at Cedar Key, where our old friend the pirate Jean Lafitte made regular pit stops as he plundered the Gulf of Mexico. I’ll have a report on the trade show and Cedar Key on Wednesday.
As a result, I’ll be announcing two weeks’ worth of winners at once next Sunday. S...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>
