Author Babette James Takes on Our Weird Interview Questions
To ring in the new year at Heart Melting Romance, I’ve invited Author Babette James to answer some of the weird questions and tell us about her newest book. Please welcome Babette.
1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I write contemporary and fantasy romance, and I’ve always loved writing and making up stories, beginning back when I used to act out epic fantasy tales with my dolls. (My Barbies had swords and knew how to use them.) I even have a degree in Literature, but it wasn’t unti...

Call for Street Team Players
ARue Allyn street team is forming and you are invited you to join. The purpose of the team is to generate word of mouth about my books. That’s right, all you have to do is talk (tweet, fb, GR, etc.) about books (preferably mine). Since you follow this blog, I figure you’re already interested in talking about books, authors, publishing et al, so the street team activities just add more of what you already like. To join, send an e-mail to contact@RueAllyn.com. Put “I want to join Rue’s street t...

Please welcome M J Flournoy
When I tried to think of a topic for this blog, Pearl Harbor Day was close approaching and naturally my thought turned to the men and women who serve in our armed forces. I’d like to take a moment to thank them for their sacrifice and let them know they are appreciated.
Navy SEALs are close to my heart because my dad served in the Navy during and before WWII. Daddy was a sailor and had that swagger and bigger than life attitude that men of such ilk are known to possess. My dad loved to talk ab...

A Different Christmas Poem
I was sent this poem by a fellow veteran. I’m posting it here in honor ofthe sacrifices made at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7th, 1941.The author’s name was not given, so in the spirit of the poem, I credit all veterans as the source. Please comment and share.
The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to...

“What’s in your stocking?” — One more day to win
The ‘traditional’ Christmas Stocking is usually displayed as overflowing with small toys, gobs of sweets and at least one or two candy canes. Over the last few decades the sweets have begun to outnumber the small toys. Whether this is so because of the mass production of candy, because we love sweets more than toys, or because candy and cookies fit stockings easier than most current toys is hard to say. The one thing I can say for certain is that it wasn’t always this way.
There is much debate...

Thanksgiving Evolutions

SOURCE: http://biologybiozine.com/bringing-heritage-breeds-back-to-the-thanksgiving-table/2093
During my childhood, Thanksgiving Day was a much-anticipated event. I loved helping my mother cook and decorate, reuniting with family we hadn’t seen for months, havingdays off from school and plenty of time to play and/or read, and of course putting up the Christmastree the day after Thanksgiving Day. Then I went away to college and while I came home for the day I participated less in the preparatio...
