Hona El Kuwait Video…

I loved the idea, loved the soundtrack. My favorite shot is of Shuwaikh Port's sign in the 00:16 of the video. The non-profit video is meant to show the beauty of Kuwait and it does. It must have taken a lot of work to put it together. I just wish it was a bit longer, I want to see more :)

The video is directed by Faisal Aljassar and produced by Cinemagic Kuwait. Thank you for the video o qawakom Allah ma ga9artaw :)

P.S. Its better to watch it in HD. Enjoy!

Blast from the Past: Plasma Globes

Once upon a time in the 80′s up until mid 90′s, Plasma globes were very popular and really cool! I loved Plasma globes as much as I loved lava lamps. One of my friends once gave me a Plasma Globe as a gift and I cherished it and was mesmerized by it for a very very long time.

Then one day something happened and I lost my Plasma globe :( I don't know what happened exactly, I can't remember, but I think it was thrown out like my childhood books from storage. Years later and I still miss my plasma globe even though its considered a bit tacky now. Then again I can't help thinking I could take great pictures of the electric plasma if it was still here :( That's why the 80′s rocked! Cool futuristic stuff like that were amazing!

Do you remember Plasma globes? Have you ever owned one?

Rant: The Definition of a Blog

In case you've been really confused as to what a blog is, I have taken the liberty of retrieving its definition from wikipedia (link) and publishing it on my very own personal journal published on the world wide web.

Therefore, dear illiterate jerk, there is absolutely nothing wrong in Danderma talking about Danderma on Danderma's blog, all the time, 24/7, because its a BLOG! A JOURNAL! A DEAR DIARY!

It is not an online newspaper. If you see a newspaper talking only about its owner then there is something horribly wrong with that. On a blog however it is perfectly fine, the way it should be actually. It doesn't mean I am conceited. It doesn't mean I am self centered. I doesn't mean I am a celebrity and acting like it. It only means it is my VERY OWN BLOODY BLOG!

O guess what? If I am sad I will put sad stuff. If I want to nag I will nag. If I want to berate I will berate. If I want to praise I will praise. Blog too negative? Find bloggers who are on prozac then and follow them to somewhere over the rainbow. Too much food? Oh please like you don't like to eat, shakhbar el zwara? Too many travel posts? Well I like them kaifi, they actually work as a reference to me! Too many reviews? Well its not different from me telling my friend on the phone about something I tried and liked. 9adagtaw keifkom ma 9adagtaw mo ella.

Bottom line is, if you don't like what you are reading then don't read it! Tra mo '3a9ob! You are free to read whatever makes you happy and content. Go read that by all means. Reading my blog is not your homework!

So again back to the conclusion: Its my blog o kaifi. Yes. Kaifi. Finito.

Body Shop's New Chocomania Range

I was in the body shop the other day when I found out that they have a new "Chocomania" range! Soaps, Shower Cream, Body Lotion, the works! I for one am a sucker for shower creams and body lotions and chocolate so I grabbed the ones above to try and indulge in them. After all, if we are not supposed to eat chocolate at least we get to bathe in and smother ourselves in chocolate, mo?

Movie Review: Dream House

I hate Daniel Craig.

I cannot stand him. Ever since he became the new James Bond I've hated him even more. He irritates me. When I booked this movie I didn't see who the lead actor was so when I sat in the chair and his face came up I was like "ohooo".

Then the story started and putting aside my dislike for Mr. Craig's it was really really good! At first I thought it was like every other horrorish movies and that I've ruined it by watching the trailer which gives away the plot -trailers reveal too much now a days- but to my surprise what the trailer has revealed and what I thought I had worked out was only the beginning.

You can feel the man's happiness and bliss when he moves into a new house in the suburbs and out of the city. His daughters are so cute. His wife is renovating the place and he is writing his novel. A happy family. Then the threats and the bizarre happenings begins and you feel the man's pain while he is trying to protect his family from harm. Its all he is got, his wife and those two lovely daughters.

In the end you really have to keep your tears down. Now this should have been a Denzel movie! If Denzel had acted in it I would have booked 4 shows one after the other and watched it again and again and again. Daniel Craig was fine though. Movie is still good. Definitely going on my DVD shelf when its out!

Picture of the Week: Dettol

I don't know about you, but I never feel clean unless I use Dettol. Dettol wipes, Dettol soap for hand washing in the kitchen or the bathroom, Even Dettol shower gel when I take a shower.

Ako a7la min el Dettol o the smell of Dettol?

Book Review: The Ugly Sister

From the writer of "Getting Rid of Matthew" comes the newest novel "The Ugly Sister". The story of two sisters, Abi and Cleo, where Cleo is an international super model and Abi is the ugly duckling of the family. How Cleo's beauty had driven them apart and how, on London summer, Abi was given the chance to come and share the life of Cleo and her family after being driven apart for over 20 years. Only when Abi finally arrives in Cleo's life does she realize what a mess it was and begins to realize she might not be the ugly sister anymore!

Though I didn't enjoy getting rid of Matthew much but I loved this book! I loved it so much I took it with me wherever I went. It was the first book I have fully read and finished in my new apartment too :D When it was finally over I was sad, I wanted more! No sappy everything gets resolved happily ever after ending here either, it is very realistic and I appreciated that. Definitely a keeper of a book! I loved it so much and I know you will love it too!

Here is the book's link in Amazon (link).

When a man takes a tinkle in the middle of the street!

In my 31 years of living on the face of the earth, specifically in Kuwait, I've never ever seen something as outrageous as I've seen last weekend!

As a matter of fact I did once, last year standing in the Qa6ar St. and Salem Al-Mubarak St. traffic light in Salmiya I saw a young man, 15 maybe, giving the cars his back and doing the deed. At least he thought he was hidden by some construction site -but he wasn't- and we didn't see anything except a person's back. I chalked it off to being young and foolish. Maybe he was in a bet? After all Marina Mall was less than a 100m away!

But this weekend? Going out from Ikea and wanting to check a furniture store next to Souq Almeera, in the middle of the meera parking, without any cars surrounding him and with a full view of the main road, stood an old man in a winter dishdasha. I saw him with his dishdasha half way through his legss and I told my husband "El 7ajji eshfeeh rafe3 deshtashtah?"

Usually when I see an old man I coo and say y7leelah so I was looking at him and he looked back at me with a puzzled expression. As in why is that woman looking at me? Then my husband started yelling "Don't look don't look" at the same moment I registered a long yellow stream flowing out of him and right on the parking floor. I started screaming in shock! A man is relieving himself right there in the middle of the road surrounded by nothing to hide his modesty! In full view of the entire world! O mo 3ajba ini ga3da a6al3ah b3d!

After screaming then a fit of retching -never approaching a puddle of "liquid" on the floor again g63- I was angry! So angry! How dare this man think he can take a tinkle in the middle of the street? Where are we living? He is five minutes away from a big supermarket surely stacked with bathrooms! Why wasn't he at least trying to hide? Or do it with his back to people instead of standing there in full view of passersby?

Malat 3leeh g63! I should have called the police for him! Then again is there a law against taking a tinkle with partial frontal nudity in front of people? Would they even bother taking him to the station? Does this happen often or is it a new thing? G63 g63 g63 g63!

Have you ever seen a man doing it in full view of everyone g63!

-P.S. I just remembered that I've seen a worker doing it on the wall of the building where Pick You is located two months ago, at least his back is to people, this year! What is happening? Why is everyone suddenly doing it in the street?

Good Saturday Morning…

Saturday! O the national holidays are getting closer too! The mood is perfectly set for breakfast especially given that the good weather won't be lasting much longer 7safa 3leeh!

What I really really want is to board a plane to Dubai, drive into the Lime Tree Cafe, and have a hearty breakfast there. We once had that amazing Pinapple and coconut with lime pancakes, very tropical and different. Maybe its about time I boarded that plane for a quick visit

What are you having for breakfast today?

Lenôtre's Valentines Day Cake

I received a phone call yesterday from Lenôtre asking me to come to their Gulf Road branch because they have a surprise for me. I couldn't go for I have been having one hectic day but when my Bu Tootee was in Gulf Road area he passed by and picked up my surprise.

A sleek pull out brown box with Lenôtre logo and a fabric handle. I just wish my camera would take more vibrant pictures as its been acting up for the past couple of days.

As I pulled out the side of the box I found that it was Lenôtre's Valentines day cake!

Sleek, red, and gorgeous! With three different sections in three different details! The left most had six white chocolate pieces hanging around in a heart shaped formation. Or maybe white dove's wings? Or a butterfly? Depends on how you look at it.

Its a pity those white things flew off while being driven home and fell out. I put them right back in and the damage was minimal!

The middle had three different heart shaped chocolate pieces.

And the right most side had a single rubik's cube style Lenôtre chocolate piece. The architecture on this cake is brilliant :)

Inside the cake?

Chocolate! Chocolaty chocolate chocolate cake. Ma t'3ashmer! Its like eating mouthfuls of chocolate truffle. A chocoholic dream! The great thing about this cake is that it is not too big. Big enough for a couple to eat it and maybe share a slice or two with others afterwards :p

Lenôtre, you keep spoiling me! Thank you so much for the Valentines day cake. Me & Bu Tootee enjoyed it thoroughly!

I am not sure if the cake is still available to order but you can call Lenôtre at 1805050 extension 28 and check.
