Hello! It’s an exciting day for me, as I’m celebrating THREE things today. First, and foremost, it’s CANADA DAY! So, happy birthday to my country, and HAPPY CANADA DAY to all my Canadian peeps!

Annmar and her new employer had just agreed on the size of the advertising label when the door opened again, and in walked the fascinating young man, wiping his palms down heavy brown trousers held by worn leather braces.
He was big. Much bigger than she’d realized from across the platform, he had the firm muscle of a broad, well-defined body. His rolled sleeves revealed fine, dark hair that covered the lovely brown arms he loosely swung. He planted his feet before them.
“This is the artist from the city?” His deep voice nearly purred.
“Yes.” Mistress Gere crossed her arms, but couldn’t keep a smile from curling her lips. “I should have known you’d be in here as fast as you could manage, my boy. Annmar, may I introduce Daeryn Darkcoat, perhaps the most gregarious individual among our farm family. Daeryn, Annmar Masterson, who, as you noted, is a city girl and not at all used to our casual country ways. You will keep to the borders of her territory until she gives you permission to enter.” The tall woman fixed him with an eye-to-eye look.
Annmar blinked at the bizarre introduction, so forthright, and made while he lacked a jacket, or even a waistcoat…never would such an impropriety occur in Derby. Yet she’d been warned and had promised to pardon their atypical customs.
Daeryn, which Mistress Gere pronounced day-rin, seemed to take it in stride. He nodded, a single dip of his chin. “Yes’m.”
He didn’t pause between that acknowledgment and extending his hand. His gaze searched hers curiously, and he smiled, not the grin of before, but almost shyly.
Her stomach flipped. Sweet wasn’t how anyone would normally describe a young male who had so clearly crossed into manhood, but that was her exact thought. She wiped her clammy palm discreetly in her skirt folds before shaking his hand.
“Pleased to meet you,” he said. “Are you finding the Basin to your liking?” His rough-skinned hand clasped hers in neither a strong nor a weak manner, but one that conveyed gentleness for its size.
His warmth felt nice, and her head muddled a bit. “I, uh, I’m happy to have arrived, to be here. Yes. It’s all been…fine,” her mouth murmured.
Then, too quickly, he released her. Somehow, Mistress Gere took over the conversation, discussing an animal problem in the fields and listing several possibilities she wanted Daeryn to look into. His brows came together over narrowed eyes, changing his face into a calculating contemplation that had Annmar glad she wasn’t the source of the problem.
“We’ll delay dinner,” Mistress Gere said. “After I show Annmar to her room, I’ll speak with your team and the growers.” She shook her head, and when she spoke again, her tone was solemn. “The damage isn’t significant at this point, but the rate at which it’s increased bothers me. If the losses continue to rise, the squash harvest will suffer like the tomatoes, and I’m afraid what we’ve seen so far with the turnips means the onions will follow the same track. The last we can’t afford to lose.”
Daeryn patted her arm and, to Annmar’s surprise, gave the older woman a quick hug. “The creatures can’t avoid us long, don’t you worry. We’ll wait in the yard.” He nodded to Annmar. “Be seeing you.” He strode out of the kitchen, leaving the doors to swish closed.
Mistress Gere turned her gaze back to Annmar. “That boy heads my nocturnal guards. I trust him with my property and my life. Having just met you, I hesitate to say this but feel I must. Some of the farm members can be overly friendly, but everyone will be respectful of your person and your territory…er, social needs.”
Social needs better explained what her employer probably meant when warning off Daeryn. He had to be from one of the Basin’s cultural pockets with different customs. Telling him to keep to the borders of her territory must be a country way of describing propriety. Good. Mistress Gere set out the rules more clearly than Mrs. Rennet could have in town.
“I’ll make the rest of the introductions at dinner,” Mistress Gere said. “Please come to me with any questions. Or if you prefer to talk to someone closer to your own age, may I suggest Mary Clare? She has an excellent grasp of the subtle differences in individuals and how to set them straight.”
Annmar did not want to admit that she might just do that.
Laurel Wanrow loves misty mornings, the smell of freshly dug earth, petting long-haired guinea pigs and staring at the stars. She sees magic in nature and loves to photograph it.
Before kids, she studied and worked as a naturalist—someone who leads wildflower and other nature walks. During a stint of homeschooling, she turned her writing skills to fiction to share her love of the land, magical characters and fantastical settings.
When not living in her fantasy worlds, Laurel camps, hunts fossils and argues with her husband and two new adult kids over whose turn it is to clean house. Though they live on the East Coast, a cherished family cabin in the Colorado Rockies holds Laurel’s heart.

Here’s the third excerpt AN ALIEN TO LOVE, which comes from the third story in the box set, Another Night, Another Planet:
“Okay, what do you do? How’d you end up on Elatia?”
“A little of this and that. Transporting small packages between planets, mostly.” Cargo no one else wanted to carry. He grasped her hips, sliding her toward him, her robe slipping up her thighs. She grasped his shoulders and stared at him, eyes wide. But no objection came from her lips, so he continued. “As for why I’m here, well, I came to meet you. Right now, I don’t want to be anywhere else.”
Her cheeks flushed, and he could think of nothing but having his way with her. He leaned forward, tasting her sweet lips. She didn’t pull away, but wrapped her arms around him. Lining his tongue along the edge of her mouth, he deepened the kiss. He absorbed her essence into every cell. He couldn’t get enough. Reaching between their bodies, he undid the tie around his waist. Then hers. Delirious, he pulled the robes from between them until skin pressed against skin. Exactly as they were meant to be. Nibbling his way down her neck, he took pleasure in her soft whimpers. She leaned back, opening herself to him. For a moment, he could do nothing but stare at her luscious body, unable to believe she was there with him again.
He ran his tongue across her stomach, from her navel, all the way up to one of her rosy peaks, the taste of tropical fruits and her femininity overwhelming his senses. He sucked a nipple into his mouth, drawing his teeth over her tender skin. She cried out, but held him there rather than pushing him away. As he switched to savor her other breast, she began to rock over him. His semi-hard-on turned into a rock, seeking out a warm pussy. The head of his penis slid easily along her wet lips, but he refused to take the plunge. Way too soon.
Rising to his feet, he laid Ava across the lounger. “Stay here. I’ll be right back.”
He rushed over to the gourmet spread of food before his lust took over and he ruined the evening. Collecting a selection of pastries filled with creams and small chunks of juicy fruit, he took a deep breath, trying to stifle his aching cock. Anxious to satisfy another hunger, he carried the plate over to Ava.

Setting a chunk of fruit between his teeth, he captured her lips again. Their tongues darted around the juicy flesh until he swallowed it down. He licked a trail of sweet nectar down her neck. Gods, he’d missed her.
Pinching one of the flaky pastries, he wiped its cream onto her pert, rosy nipples. Hunger and lust pulsed through him, but under it all, something more. More than want. He needed her. Always had. He refused to walk away from her again. Tonight was about more than pleasure, a one-night stand. Somehow, he had to convince her to never return to Earth, to stay with him. An impossible task. But he had to try.

Here’s seven from AN ALIEN TO LOVE, a 1Night Stand box set with five heroes from space that releases on July 1st. Enjoy!
Set-up: I received a 5-star review from a reader earlier this week who received an ARC of this box set. In her review, she mentioned that Nate was her favorite, so I decided to share an excerpt from his story, which is Another Night, Another Planet. In this scene, he sees Ava for the first time in years.
In an instant, the couple had folded up one of the tables then hurried away. Nate pierced her with his gaze from the other end of the massage platform between them. Even with the robe on, she felt exposed in front of him. He’d already seen her naked. Many times. Now, he was the only one left with her. The same man who’d gotten in Jacobus’s face minutes earlier, ready to fight him.
“You’re so beautiful.” His sultry whisper sent shivers across her body.
“Pardon?” She had to have misheard him. If he meant his words, he never would have vanished from her life.
Nate stepped around the table and approached her. Though she wanted to back up, gain some distance from the hunk of a man with his hungry eyes, her feet refused to move. As he stood in front of her, she gasped, her heart pounding in her chest. He gripped her hips, drawing her closer. Leaning down, he whispered in her ear. “I said, you’re beautiful. Just as precious as the first time we were together.” His warm breath across her neck left her body tingling, wanting more.
If a stranger, he would have made this the best day of her life, with delicious food, a relaxing massage, and now, the sexiest man alive touching her. But her date had to end now. She couldn’t go through him leaving again. If only she could respond, her tongue gone numb.
“Why don’t you climb back on the table? I’ll finish your massage, bring pleasure to every inch of your body.”
She gulped then shook her head, still not able to respond. Even with his god-like physique, he could be nothing more than a distant memory.

Here’s the second excerpt AN ALIEN TO LOVE, which comes from the first story in the box set, Celestial Seduction:
She stood in front of him then and held out her hands. His black eyes met hers as he wrapped her hands in his. “You’re okay with what I told you?”
“No, but I’m trying to stay open-minded.” She tried to keep her hands from shaking even as she showed him she could handle the information. “I don’t feel like you want to hurt me though.”
He lightly squeezed her hands, a smile forming on his lips. “I would never bring you harm.”
Lifting one hand up, she gently placed it on the side of his face. “Will you show me what you really look like? I can see your real eyes, but I want to see the rest.”
“You won’t run away?” She winced seeing all of the confidence he’d had at the beginning of the night gone, but it made her trust him even more. “Whatever you do, please don’t scream.”
“I promised to stay the entire night, didn’t I? And don’t worry, I don’t scream unless someone sneaks up on me, or if I see a spider. You don’t look like a spider, do you?” The very thought sent a chill through her body.
He smiled, some of his confidence back while his human image flickered for a few seconds before completely disappearing. Unsure what to expect, she tried not to judge until she’d set eyes on his entire figure. Long, spindly fingers intertwined with hers. He tried to let go, but she held them tight. His body appeared taller and leaner than before. She saw the same black eyes, a less prominent nose and barely visible ears. His hair became jet black and appeared longer and curlier than before. Underneath luminescent scales, his skin shone a light blue.
“So, what do you think?” His mouth quirked, revealing his uncertainty.
Except for their color, his lips were the only thing that didn’t change. She leaned towards him, wondering if they would still feel the same. She had to stand on the tips of her toes to reach him, but wrapping her arms around his neck helped. The feel of his skin surprised her. Perhaps he didn’t have scales, but the pattern lay beneath his skin.
He’s beautiful.

That’s it, I’m leaving. She didn’t need to stick around and be reminded of another night she’d been stood up by a blind date and passed over by every other available male.
After slipping her shoes on and grabbing her clutch, she headed for the door.
“Leaving so soon?”
She shivered at the sound of the deep, sexy voice. Spinning around, she gazed up at an enormous, captivating man. Very rarely did she meet a guy so much taller than herself. His black velvet justacorps fit tight across his broad shoulders, but not too snug. And the silk shirt lining his wide chest matched the color of her dress. Almost as if they were made for each other. I can only hope.
Flowing down his back, his long, thick, dark mane appeared to have feathers throughout. In the dim lighting, his hair, and even his skin had a faint blue glow. She couldn’t help but be enthralled by his presence; was sure she stood in front of him with her mouth hanging open.
“I…I’m going home.”
“When the night is still so young?” He brushed his hand down her bare arm. “What could be more fun at home? Perhaps you might even enjoy some company?”
How she’d love to spend the night in this man’s company. But this had to be some kind of joke. She looked around for cameras, anxious faces. No one as hot as this man could want to spend a night with her. “It’s been a long day. I was stood up by my date, and my friends no longer need me to stick around.”
Great! She’d just told the guy she was alone. Might as well have put a target on my back.
He rested his hand on her hip, sending intense sexual energy zinging straight to her core. “You mean you wouldn’t want to enjoy an evening in my company? Because I’m your date.”

Reader Letter from AN ALIEN TO LOVE #1NightStand #boxset @DecadentPub

For those who haven’t noticed, I’ve been sharing reader letters from my releases. This is the first I’ve been able to share before the title releases.
With my upcoming release, AN ALIEN TO LOVE, I’m going to be sharing many things about the stories in this anthology on my blog over the next few days. Today, I’m going to share the reader letter, which gives you a bit of insight into the stories, and why this collection of stories was put together.

Dear Reader,
Thank you for your interest in my new 1Night Stand bundle! I have eight stories in this line out now, with plans to write more in the future. They are just as much fun for me to write as they are to read.
I remember a few years ago when I received an email from Rebecca Royce, who I met through the now defunct author meme, Six Sentence Sunday. Her first 1Night Stand was about to release and she suggested I write a story for the line, adding my own touch of sci-fi. I took her advice and, after many drafts, submitted my first story. I cried tears of joy when I heard back from one of the line’s founders. Valerie Mann offered a contract for the story and helped me to make it shine. Four years ago, on July 1st, 2011, Celestial Seduction released. Since then, I’ve had seven more 1Night Stands release with Decadent Publishing, the majority of them being about sexy aliens.
This collection contains five stories about beings from different planets coming together for one night of passion and pleasure. But will their diversity send them fleeing, or has Madame Eve once again proven her magic with these unique pairings?
I hope you enjoy all the stories in An Alien to Love and find at least one sexy alien you adore, too.

It was annoying to Naya to be still for so long. The room started to get crowded as family members of the other victims came in. She had to get up and walk around. She had to go outside. Naya made her way back down the long, white halls. Just as she was about to leave the building, a scent turned her back around. She couldn’t get it out of her mind. The aroma was so intriguing. It was really inviting. She never knew a scent could be so strong that it controlled her.
She forgot about leaving and followed the scent all the way up to a man who was walking. He was some sort of healthcare worker— a physician, a nurse, she didn’t know. He wore sea blue scrubs just like everyone else. His hair was short, dark brown, and very curly— soft curls. Some made it all the way around, a total 360 degrees, to loosely coil. Others were in “C” shapes. Already, she imagined running her fingers through them.
Someone called him from behind. She moved to the side, so she wouldn’t be directly behind him as he turned.
His eyes were dark just like his hair. His skin was a light sandalwood color and would look really good next to hers. Or maybe she would change to her own shade of sandalwood. No, she thought. Just because she could change didn’t mean she would. She was fine with the color she was born with.
The man talked to his friend as he walked backwards. He was really busy. His name was Dante.
Naya managed to concentrate, so she could ignore her senses. She walked briskly past him and back to the nurses’ station in the ER. No more waiting. She was sent to a room on the fourth floor to visit her new brother.
Mia Mitns was born in Houston, Texas but grew up in multiple places including California, Colorado, and a few other areas around Texas. She graduated from school in Atlanta, Georgia and Pomona, California.
After school, Mia wrote her first novel, Tea Leaf: What Hides Beneath, an urban fantasy story that was born from a strange dream. When she is not writing or reading, she enjoys listening to music, going to concerts, trying to play guitar, playing basketball, and drawing.
