It's been so much fun exploring the story from the angles of the three characters who have the most at stake!

Here's a teaser from a scene between the princess and her mentor:

“I know you wouldn’t steal from a villager, and we’re out of coin.” He stepped back from her and bent to unknot the rope that tied the mouth of the bag shut. “I also know you’re smart and cunning. If anyone is capable of finding a stash of food this close to winter, it’s you, but I can’t think of where you could find so much unless you …”

The bag opened to reveal loaves of bread, bags of dried huckleberries and green tomatoes, a sack of beans, and a generous handful of shiny red apples.

“Robbed the queen’s garrison.” Lorelai finished Gabril’s sentence and braced herself.

“And the fire?” Gabril’s voice was the kind of quiet that usually meant Lorelai was about to be assigned hours of calisthenics, archery practice, and chores.

“I set it myself.”

“You robbed the queen’s garrison and then burned it down?” His voice rose.

“Not *all* of it. Plenty of buildings were undamaged.”

Sara I just finished Deception and I can not wait for the next book!! Deception was, hands down, one of the best sequels I've ever read. It suffered none of the second book blues and it didn't get political and boring. You are amazing and I'm a fan for life!! Any idea when the next book is going to be out? I feel like I need to preorder it today ;)
