Tumblr time?
Hey guys,
I've been fooling around on Tumblr for a few days. Nothing special going on yet, but I'm looking for input -- what are the advantages to blogging there as opposed to here? Or should I maintain separate sites? Is Tumblr better for people like me, who aren't the best at long-form blogging regularly? Would love to hear all/any thoughts.

Writing from the male perspective
As you may already know, the first book in the FURY series features a dual-POV (point-of-view) narrative; both Em and Chase tell the story. I chose to write both POVs from a close-third-person perspective (also called Limited Third Person). In other words, the reader experiences the world as the protagonists do -- we are privy to their thoughts, feelings, observations -- without the intimacy that a first-person "I" narrative would provide. There's a great round-up of posts on third-person...

Envy UK Cover!
It's actually still unclear to me whether this is the cover that will be on the shelves in the UK, or what (so many variations, all of them beautiful!). Regardless, it's hot and awesome, and I want to make sure you guys see it. Ta-da!

Maine Festival of the Book details
There is so much exciting literary stuff happening in Portland this weekend, I can hardly stand it!
Here's the full schedule for the Maine Festival of the Book; I'll be presenting on two different panels:
1) At 11 am, I'll be talking with Alma Katsu, author of THE TAKER (who was in USA Today, today, nbd), about what "the supernatural" means to us and our books. I'll be discussing the influence of Greek tragedy on FURY's narrative arc, and she'll touch on how she considers her work to be akin to...

Like a Phoenix (ahem), rising from the ash - plus, COVER REVEAL!
I haven't written since December. Shameful.
I've been trying to get better at prioritizing. Between my day job at the newspaper, the writing of the third book in the Fury series, copy-editing and prepping Book Two (ENVY), producing an art installation/theatrical show at SPACE Gallery with my theater company, and trying to maintain some grip on real life, blogging got pushed way down the list of "things I must get done." Facebook and Twitter haven't suffered as badly, if you want to scroll thr...

THINGS I LOOKED AT AND LIKED
(Post title courtesy of my friend Oh My Goodness.)
I'm going to start using this blog as a depository for interesting (at least to me), enjoyable (or sometimes not) links / stories. Of course I'll also still give the heads up when something of note happens to me or with the books. Like when my Book Smugglers Smugglivus post goes live, tomorrow. Or when the Pawing Through Books interview gets posted as part of their "12 Days of Christmas Extravaganza."
In the meantime, here's some cool stuff fro...

BOOKS FOR EVERY PERSON ON YOUR HOLIDAY LIST (plus a BOOKPLATE GIVEAWAY!)
It's getting to be that time of year again...
While I would never participate in Black Friday (an event *not* tailored to mild agoraphobics), I will be tackling my holiday shopping list soon. While this is in no way a comprehensive list of the books I enjoyed in 2011 (that list would be much longer), these are some of the books I'll be gifting this year. Thought I'd share in case you're hunting for literary presents. (You'll see that all the links go to IndieBound - that's my little way of say...

ALMA KATSU on LOVE, ALLAGASH, and UPPING THE ANTE
I met Alma Katsu at a New England Independent Booksellers Association event in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, earlier this year. She read from her new book, THE TAKER (also published by Simon & Schuster), and I immediately wanted more. I snagged a copy of her debut that day and devoured it soon after - the story of Lanny (a mysterious woman who shows up in a northern Maine hospital one cold winter's night), Jonathan (her mezmerizing, if confused, love object), and the doctor to whom she tells...

THE BEST TIME A SQUIRREL FELL ON ME FROM A ROOFTOP
Was definitely this morning. Mostly because it's the only time that's ever happened to me (or anyone in the world, as far as I know).
In other news, I went on a little bit of a nostalgia bender today, and this is still one of the most beautiful love songs ever, even if I can't listen to it anymore:
And lastly, I must figure out what I'm making for Thanksgiving. It's wide open - app, side dish, dessert...any ideas?
