Urban Meyer Has 7 Word Message For Arch Manning

Texas Longhorns star quarterback Arch Manning is probably the most recognizable name in college football right now, but that doesn't mean he's earned the hype just yet.

Manning is the starting quarterback on the top-ranked team in the country, the consensus Heisman Trophy favorite, and has already been projected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. That doesn't even consider his famous last name, which he shares with his NFL legend uncles, Peyton and Eli.

The expectations are nearly off the charts. But before the season opener, one legendary coach is pumping the brakes a little bit.

While Manning hasn't ever been a full-time starting quarterback at the college level, that hasn't stopped NFL Draft experts from projecting him at the top of the 2026 NFL Draft.

In his most recent mock draft, NFL insider Field Yates of ESPN projected that the Cleveland Browns would select Manning at the top of the upcoming draft.

"Manning has a very good build, throws with accuracy to all levels of the field and shows solid movement traits. He's a different QB than his uncles Peyton and Eli were in that he is a threat with his legs. He is inexperienced and needs to add more weight to his 6-foot-4 frame, but it's easy to see his immense ceiling," Yates wrote on ESPN.com. "I know the Browns just drafted two passers this year, but if they are picking first overall next year, then yes, they'll be taking a quarterback."

It's worth noting that there's no guarantee that Manning would even enter the NFL Draft even if he does have a strong season, but he's clearly already got the attention of NFL Draft experts.

Urban Meyer Sends Message to Arch Manning

Needless to say, there is a lot of hype surrounding Manning before he heads into his first season as a full-time starter. However, three-time national champion head coach Urban Meyer isn't necessarily ready to buy in just yet.

"Arch Manning hasn't done a thing yet," Meyer said during a recent appearance on "The Joel Klatt Show."

Meyer explained that he thinks Manning is a "really good player," but he wants to see him actually play some competitive football before having discussions about the Heisman Trophy or the NFL Draft.

"I’m hearing the word Heisman. I’m hearing the words national champion and first pick overall," Meyer said. "I went back and watched [him] recently. He’s a good player. He's a really good player. But get a couple of first downs."

Manning Kicks off 2025 Season

Manning will face his first major test right out of the gate, as his first game as a full-time starter will come on the road against the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes.

Texas will take on the Buckeyes at noon on Saturday as Manning and the Longhorns look for revenge from their loss to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff Semifinal last season.

'Mortal Kombat 2' Movie Delayed: Updated Release Date & Possible Reasons for Decision

As summer winds down, the intrigue surrounding upcoming movie releases this fall continues to grow by the week. On the surface, this makes the decision by Warner Bros. to push back the release date of the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat II film by nearly seven months seem surprising. Originally slated to hit theaters on Oct. 24, the decision was made to move Mortal Kombat II’s release to May 15, 2026, as The Hollywood Reporter detailed.

Now comes the million-dollar question: Why was that decision made? Especially considering the hype and excitement surrounding the film, which immediately became apparent after the red-band trailer garnered an incredible 107 million views in 24 hours globally.

However, anticipation and an eye-opening number of views for the trailer weren’t enough to avoid the change.

‘Mortal Kombat II’ Delaying Release Date Could Be Due to Timing & Warner Bros.’ 2025 Success Brec Bassinger attends the world premiere of Warner Bros' ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ at the TCL Chinese Theatre. The movie opened to a franchise record box office number and became the highest-grossing film in the series.

While there’s no clear-cut answer as to why Warner Bros. opted to push back Mortal Kombat II’s release date, there are a few very obvious reasons that could have been factors. Several noteworthy movies are set to hit theaters during the latter part of 2025, which, paired with a release one week before Halloween, may have influenced the decision.

However, one very strong possibility for the move is related to Warner Bros.’ tremendous success in and around the May timeframe this year. As Deadline detailed, the company’s release of Final Destination: Bloodlines opened to a franchise record of $51.6 million. The movie was released on May 16 and became the highest-grossing film in the franchise, while also receiving the best reviews among the six-movie series, which first debuted in 2000.

If Warner Bros. were attempting to weigh the risk vs. reward of remaining in the late-October release slot or pushing Mortal Kombat II to mid-May, the success of Final Destination: Bloodlines likely made it an easy decision.

'Mortal Kombat II’ Setting Release Date in May 2026, Avoids Several Noteworthy Upcoming Movies

Although Warner Bros. likely didn’t need to dodge any competition after seeing how well the trailer for Mortal Kombat II performed, they still managed to do so for the most part.

Interesting early-2026 movie releases like 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, The Rip (Matt Damon, Ben Affleck), Send Help (Rachel McAdams, Dylan O’Brien) and the Stephen Curry-produced GOAT are all hitting theaters in either January or February.

Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary is slated for a March release date, while the new Street Fighter movie and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come are currently set to hit theaters in April. The biggest competition at the box office for Mortal Kombat II is bound to come one week after its May 15, 2026, release, when The Mandalorian and Grogu premieres on May 22.

The popular video game adaptation is also more than a full month clear of DC Studios and James Gunn’s big-screen follow-up to Superman, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which hit theaters on June 26, 2026. Mortal Kombat II’s new release date is also well and clear of the likes of The Odyssey (July 17), Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31), The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (Nov. 20), Jumanji 3 (Dec. 11) and Avengers: Doomsday (Dec. 18), among others.

This No-Frills Body Weight Scale Is 50% Off, and It's Incredibly Accurate

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

Having a reliable body weight scale is every bit as essential as owning comfortable running shoes, whether the aim is to track the effects of cutting Doritos or your new fitness journey. And right now, Walmart has a killer deal on a scale I've personally used and swear by.

The Renpho Digital Body Weight Scale is on sale for $18, 50% off the normal $36 price at Walmart right now. You can get the wood and blue colors at an even lower price than what's being offered on Amazon, where I bought mine.

Renpho Digital Body Weight Scale, $18 (was $36) at Walmart

Courtesy of Walmart

[image error] What Shoppers Should KnowSize: 10.2-by-10.2 inchesColor Options: Walmart offers the Wooden and Blue Gradient styles.Weight Limit: 400 poundsPower: 2xAAA battery (included)Surface: Tempered glassBest Use Case: As a no-frills scale for tracking body weight.

Setup is simple, too—just pop the included AAA batteries into the back and place it on a level surface to get started. Stamp the surface with a foot and let the scale automatically calibrate itself before beginning the first weigh-in.

Like most scales, the display will go up or down as you wiggle slightly on the scale. However, after a moment, the Renpho will suss out your actual weight, down to the nearest decimal, and flash it at you for a few seconds. The result is a reading that feels reliable, and I notice a difference in my weight of no more than roughly 2 pounds from one day to the next, as expected based on clothing and hydration changes.

Our Thoughts After Using It

My household and I have been on a bit of a health kick lately, with the Wenoker stationary bike and this Renpho scale being the latest pickups. Why not use the latest smart scale, you ask? Since multiple family members are using these objects, something with no frills, zero accounts to log in to, and no app association has been a big bonus.

I’ll admit that the tempered glass surface had me at least slightly worried. Most scales have mottled surfaces or indents for your feet, and missing out on that could be bad, especially if balance issues are present in the house. In actuality, however, I find that the Renpho’s surface never feels slippery, even with socks on, and the scale’s non-slip feet keep it stationary while in use. Instead, I find the tempered glass to be a much more attractive and easier-to-clean surface than what’s been present on any other scale I’ve previously used.

While some shoppers might be attracted to smart scales like the Withings Body Smart Scale or Fitbit Aria Air Smart Scale, the increased price ($130 and $45, respectively) of these devices didn’t reflect what my family needed. Even the similarly priced Wyze Scale S (currently $19) added more complexity than necessary for the simple weigh-ins we require.

The Renpho Digital Body Weight Scale was the best scale for my family, and at over 50%, it might be for yours, too.

This $400 Metal Storage Shed Is on Sale for $118 at Walmart Right Now, and Weather Is No Match for It

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Labor Day weekend has many ogling over deals on mattresses and or a new set of tires, if not an entirely new vehicle, but it's also wise to start thinking in advance about packing up summer for the incoming fall season. Those already limited on space should look to Walmart for the best solution: There's a wide variety of backyard storage sheds on sale, and one compact model just dipped below the $120 mark.

The Asofer 5 x 3 Outdoor Storage Shed is on sale at Walmart for $118, a 71% discount on its regular price of $400. It’s one of the retailer's least-returned storage sheds, and it's earned over 400 five-star ratings from shoppers who are thoroughly impressed by its spaciousness, ease of assembly, and ability to keep water out. This one does come with a $50 shipping fee, but it's marginal compared to the discount.

Asofer 5 x 3 Outdoor Storage Shed in Galvanized Metal, $118 (was $400) at Walmart

Courtesy of Walmart

This storage shed is made of galvanized metal, meaning it is highly resistant to rust. At the top, it has some downward-facing vents to prevent the buildup of nasty chemical and gas fumes while keeping water out. The door also has a lock, so you'll be protected from low-level thievery. This is a great place to keep your power tools, lawnmower, and possibly even your mower’s gas if you don’t think it’ll overheat.

Right away, you’ll notice shoppers finding all of Asofer's sheds quite functional. One said this shed kept all their yard equipment dry “through multiple rainy days and some bad winds.” Another called it “waterproof” and reported, “We had our new garden furniture cushions stacked in here all winter, and they all were dry; so very happy with it.”

Even if you aren’t that handy, you’ll be able to assemble this shed easily. One satisfied customer called it a quality shed that's "easy to put together with two people," while also noting that their shed came with caps to cover the ends of the screws and bolts that are exposed.

Getting this outdoor shed for your yard for only $118 is an excellent way to get your summer packed up for the incoming fall season, but the price is likely temporary, so grab yours soon.

'Unknown' Medical Event Leads to Man's Evacuation from Mount Washington

A Massachusetts man was rescued from Mount Washington in New Hampshire after suffering what officials are calling an "unknown medical event." 29-year-old Tyler Viruent from Carver, Massachusetts, was reportedly "unable to move" while hiking through the state park on Tuesday, August 26.

One member of the group Viruent was with, an off-duty EMT, described his friend's sudden symptoms to emergency personnel over the phone around 4:30 p.m.. Staff from Mount Washington State Park were able to reach the incapacitated man at 5:48, according to the official statement from The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

While little information was given about Viruent's health or what led to his immobilization, the statement insinuates that weather may have had an effect. "Hikers are reminded that weather in the White Mountains is beginning to change rapidly," it concludes, "wind chills are already below freezing in areas above tree line, and it will not be long before ice and snow arrive." At the time of rescue, it was around 40 degrees at Mount Washington and felt even colder due to winds and light rain.

Rescue workers advised the group of hikers to move Viruent to the auto road that leads down the mountain. Once found, the 29-year-old was assessed and officials helped to assist him the remainder of the way to the paved main road. Once he was standing and began moving again, Viruent "started to feel better, and was then able to hike with assistance the rest of the way out,” New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officer Matthew Holmes told The Boston Globe.

Viruent was driven down the mountain on the auto road and was assessed again by medical personnel at the bottom of the mountain. He refused an ambulance ride, but was brought to a hospital in a personal vehicle instead.

One of Tecovas' Bestselling Cowboy Boots Is 40% Off Right Now, and It's Selling Fast

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

It's hard to break into the footwear market, where shoppers are often loyal to a handful of brands they like and often approach new labels with some skepticism, but that wasn't the case for Tecovas.

The Western-wear brand, now in its 10th year, saw some early movement in brand awareness and is firmly atop the wave of cowboy boots that's trending across the country as the best high-quality, mid-tier price option. Part of the brand's success comes from price control, but it's offering shoppers a chance to save on its Last Call styles this Labor Day weekend.

This includes Tecovas' The Johnny Cowboy Boots, which are now $207, a 40% discount compared to their full price of $345. With three colors available, nearly 5,000 reviews on this pair, and an impressive 4.8-star rating, it’s not hard to see that it's one of the brand’s bestsellers.

Tecovas The Johnny Cowboy Boots, From $207 (was $345) at Tecovas [image error] What Shoppers Should KnowColors: Honey, camel, earthSizes: 7 to 15Materials: Unfinished bovine suede, rubberBreak-in Period: NoneSoles: HybridShape: Round toeShaft: 12 inchesHeel: 1 1/2-inch stacked leather heel with rubber heel capGoodyear Welt: YesWater Resistant: Yes

Tecovas may still be paving its own legacy, but the brand isn’t lacking in craftsmanship, and The Johnny boots are proof. They're made with Roughout suede, the unfinished underside of bovine hide. It showcases the suppleness of suede, yet offers a more rugged and durable finish that holds up for the long haul. This makes them better off in the elements and more abrasion-resistant, unlike other lower-quality suede cowboy boots.

They're also crafted with Tecovas' signature hybrid soles for a more comfortable walking experience. The rubber heels and forefoot help absorb impact, reinforcing the traditional leather construction while also providing a better grip (whereas leather soles can be quite slick when worn). They come in Honey, Camel, and Earth colorways, all neutral shades of brown, and sizes 7 to 15, though they'll likely sell out before the sale is over.

What Shoppers Are Saying

Fans of The Johnny can’t help but note that they’re their “dream boots.” Reviewers are saying that they check off all the boxes: They “fit beautifully,” are “incredibly comfortable,” and their looks are stylish and handsome.

Even city slickers are getting in on the action, stating they look like “dressy desperados,” that sort of have a “wedding Western” thing going on. With sharp-looking details, these boots can have anyone looking like they spent all day on horseback, according to one person who said they "make me feel like I actually did some cowboy activities.”

The Tecovas The Johnny Cowboy Boots are a bestseller, and now with a discount this steep, they are bound to sell out faster than the brand can restock them. Be sure to pick up your pair before your size is gone.

Former 'Superman' Actor Tyler Hoechlin's Unique Pitch to Become DCU’s Next 'Batman'

While the roles for high-profile superheroes such as Superman and Batman are limited as it is, whenever there is a new name cast for one of those parts in a movie or television show, it’s often someone making their first jump into the world of Marvel or DC Studios. However, one former Superman actor has his sights set on doing the almost unthinkable—suiting up as Batman after just wrapping up playing the Man of Steel.

Tyler Hoechlin, who played the role of Clark Kent, aka Superman, in the CW series Superman & Lois, which ran from 2021-2024, has officially thrown his hat into the ring for James Gunn’s DCU reboot, admitting his desire to play The Dark Knight.

Former ‘Superman’ Actor Tyler Hoechlin Admits ‘Selfishly’ He Wants to Play ‘Batman’ Tyler Hoechlin attends the ‘Superman & Lois’ press room at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

Araya Doheny/WireImage

During a recent panel at Fan Expo Canada, ScreenRant asked Hoechlin if he thinks the current star of The Batman and the upcoming film, The Batman Part II, Robert Pattinson, would fit into Gunn’s new DCU. His response was a surprising one, as the actor admitted that “selfishly” he’d say no, but only because he wants to take on the role in the next Batman film.

“Well, selfishly, I'm going to say no because I still want to play Batman,” Hoechlin said. “I think, and I say that Rob did a fantastic, fantastic job and [with] Matt Reeves it was great. So I'm happy to let them keep doing their thing, and maybe leave the door open…”

There was no sugarcoating it for Hoechlin, who made his desire to join Gunn’s expected The Brave and the Bold film very clear. It’ll be interesting to see if the 37-year-old is in consideration for the role, as it’s been one of the most often-discussed future superhero roles in recent memory.

Although it seems unlikely Pattinson would reprise the role of Bruce Wayne in Gunn’s DCU reboot, that also makes for an interesting aspect of the debate. Regardless, Pattinson is slated to return for Matt Reeves’ sequel The Batman Part II, which is currently scheduled to be released on Oct 1, 2027.

The expectation is that following Reeves’ encore to the 2022 film The Batman, the franchise will shift to Gunn’s highly anticipated film. Several names have been linked as potential options to play Bruce Wayne in The Brave and the Bold, but while Gunn has shut down the idea of a few high-profile actors taking on the role, he hasn’t tipped his hat on anyone in serious consideration yet.

DeWalt's 20V Max XR Brushless Jig Saw Is Nearly 50% Off, and It's 'Perfectly Balanced' for Easier Cutting

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

Many shoppers use Labor Day sales to score big-ticket items at low prices, and for some, it's all about power tools. This year, there's a Walmart Tool Sale flying under the radar with troves of pieces from Milwaukee for 40% off or more. The best DeWalt tool deals are happening over at Amazon, though. In addition to the mechanics tool sets and 20V batteries on sale, there's one of the brand’s top jig saws marked down by nearly half.

The DeWalt 20V Max XR Cordless Jig Saw (DCS334B) is marked down to just $125. Like nearly all DeWalt tools, it is highly rated (4.8 out of 5 stars) and beloved by DIYers and tradespeople alike, giving it the vaunted No. 1 ranking among Amazon’s best power jig saws. It sold through very quickly at Walmart and might do the same on Amazon, so make your purchase soon if you want one.

DeWalt 20V Max XR Cordless Jig Saw (DCS334B), $125 (was $239) on Amazon [image error] What Shoppers Should KnowKey Feature: Brushless MotorCompare To: Directly compare this to the DCS331B before making a purchase.Weight: 5.2 poundsSize: 10.25-by-3.75-by-8.38 inchesBattery: DeWalt 20V (not included)

The DCS334B jig saw must be immediately compared to the DCS331B before purchase. While there are subtle differences (this drill is smaller and weighs slightly less), the tools operate nearly identically. However, the DCS334B (this one) uses a brushless motor, and the DCS331B does not. People who use tools regularly or professionally swear by brushless motors for their efficiency and long lives.

Otherwise, the tools largely operate the same. Again, subtle differences are there, but the ability to easily cut at 15-, 30-, and 45-degree angles, a keyless blade change, integrated dust blower for clean workspaces, and variable speed trigger grip are all there on this model, too.

The price of the two tools is also noteworthy. The brushless model currently sits at $129, $4 more than this model. Professionals are opting for this deal on this brushless model at $125 right now, and the fact that Walmart is struggling to keep this in stock at this price confirms that.

What Shoppers Are Saying

The balance and proper weight of a tool in the hand is somewhat subjective, but one user nevertheless chimed in with an opinion, “The size and weight of this brushless model is outstanding. Perfectly balanced with cell packs attached.”

Another user who's been using an old corded jig saw said, “The brushless motor is quieter than my old one, by far.”

The DeWalt 20V Max XR Cordless Jig Saw (DCS334B) is just $125, a price that has made it a target for quickly selling out. Get yours while supplies last.

Here's What You Can Expect to See On Travis Kelce's New Restaurant's Drink Menu

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are opening a new restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri. The steakhouse, 1587 Prime, will be located in the Loews Hotel at 1500 Baltimore Avenue, and is named after their Kansas City Chiefs' jersey numbers, 15 and 87.

According to the restaurant's website, which is adorned with a "coming soon to Kansas City" message when visiting, is "a contemporary steakhouse from NFL legends Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, created in partnership with Noble 33 and infused with the spirit of Kansas City". Noble 33 is a hospitality management company based in Plano, Texas.

The restaurant will reportedly feature a steak flight experience with a sampling of a wagyu filet, Black Angus ribeye and Japanese New York strip; A5 Carpaccio with pickled mushrooms, pine nuts and truffles; a diablo shrimp appetizer; a chopped salad; and tuna tartare with ponzu, avocado and chili oil.

News broke this week on 1587’s Instagram page that their cocktail menu will feature a sweet gesture to a Taylor Swift song. The post was captioned “the cocktails you won’t stop talking about - and for good reason” and showcases The Alchemy, a refreshing cucumber and orange peel cocktail.

Instagram

Swift’s song, The Alchemy is believed to be about her relationship with Kelce, featured on her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department, which has nods to football. “So when I touch down, call the amateurs and cut ‘em from the team. Ditch the clown, get the crown. Baby I’m the one to beat”, read a few of the lyrics.

The Instagram video with the words “the first sip” scrolled at the beginning also featured an old-fashioned cocktail and “their version of shrimp cocktail” with a flight of sauces. Mahomes nodded in approval after sipping the cocktails.

Fans are apparently thrilled with the announcement, commenting “Counting down the days!” and “So looking forward to trying one! 4 weeks to go”. And “Wow! I’m going to HAVE to fly in to try this one” and “KC is sooooo ready for this”. “The Alchemy, a nod to Taylor?” said another person.

Kelce and Mahomes announced their restaurant venture in March 2024, describing it as a “unique modern American steakhouse". The restaurant images on the 1587 website show fluted wood and black and white marbled walls, a curved edge bar with brushed gold light fixtures and rolled arm and leather bar stools with modern carved art set behind.

1587 Steakhouse will open on September 17, 2025. You can now make reservations, purchase gift cards and inquire about private events on their website.
