Milwaukee's M12 Batteries Are Nearly 50% Off Right Now, and Shoppers Say They Work Great

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

Most power tool brands are centered around one primary collection or series; DeWalt is best known for its 20V collection, for instance. Milwaukee tools, as good as they are, are somewhat different—there are two popular lines. The M18 series is probably more prevalent, but there's a ton to like about the M12 tool collection as well, including how inexpensive it is to get replacement batteries.

Right now, you can get a Milwaukee M12 RedLithium High Output XC5.0 Battery for just $69. It's a Walmart bestseller and is a fantastic way to power your lightweight tools.

The M12 High Output’s key purpose is to provide extended power to your M12 tools. M12 tools, such as the M12 Cordless Ratchet, M12 Compact Cut Off Tool, and M12 Stubby Impact Wrench, tend to be on the smaller side than their M18 counterparts. Typically requiring less power, they’re the ones that you use to squeeze into tight places or use for precision manipulation.

Oftentimes, these tools are perceived as being used for finishing touches. That means that, normally, this 5.0Ah extended life battery would be geared for the person who spends serious time with technical tools. However, at this special price, even the hobbyist who uses M12 tools for minutes at a time can enjoy extended battery life affordably.

What Shoppers Are Saying

One shopper tested the battery with their saw: “Quite light and compact yet delivers a lot of power. I bought it for the 2521-20 Saw I have from Milwaukee, and I love it!”

Others piped in to confirm they received a “genuine” Milwaukee battery, with one going as far as to say they “took it apart and confirmed that it is not a fake.”

The Milwaukee M12 RedLithium High Output XC5.0 Battery is incredibly well-priced at $69, and everyone from the DIY hobbyist next door to the pro is going to be buying one. Get yours before they sell out.

NBC Is Bringing 'The Traitors' to the Masses With a Non-Celebrity Season

The Traitors is inviting everyday people to the Scottish Highlands as NBC has officially greenlit its first-ever civilian season of the Emmy-winning series.

Hosted once again by Alan Cumming, who is the face of the U.S. version of the franchise, this new installment will see everyday Americans step into roles that have only so far been filled by reality stars like Survivor's Boston "Rob" Mariano, Real Housewives' Phaedra Parks and the most hated man in America at one point, Tom Sandoval of Vanderpump Rules.

Filming is scheduled to begin in spring 2026 at the iconic Ardross Castle where they also film the celebrity version and the U.K. installments. This civilian spin mirrors versions in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand, all of which have leaned heavily on "regular" contestants instead of notable names.

"We’re excited to bring along The Traitors' highly addictive fan base as we discover the next generation of legendary gamers and schemers,” Sharon Vuong, executive vice president of unscripted programming, NBCUniversal Entertainment, said. "With our resident host and gameplay master of ceremonies, Alan Cumming, on board to introduce complete strangers to new epic missions and twisted gameplay, this new version for NBC offers a unique opportunity for the cast and audience to meet each other for the first time and we know it will be incredible to watch."

Cumming talked about his excitement for the new spinoff at Televerse 2025, according to Variety, saying, “The money will mean more to them… I’m pretty excited about it. I think it’s going to be a hoot."

Casting is now underway, and open to U.S. residents 21 and older. You can apply at TheTraitorsUS.com through March 10, 2026.

Meanwhile, the regular celebrity version will continue on Peacock with Season 4 set for a January 2026 premiere. The cast was revealed back in June when they left for filming and includes Travis and Jason's Kelce's mother, Donna KelceThe Bachelor's Colton Underwood, Big Brother's Tiffany Mitchell and Ian Terry, Survivor alums Rob Cesternino, Natalie Anderson and "Yam Yam” Arocho, Top Chef host Kristen Kish, in addition to two Olympic figure skaters, five Real Housewives, actors and more.

Illinois-based Oberweis Ice Cream & Dairy is making its first big move in years, opening a new scoop shop in Winnetka, Illinois later this month. It will be the company's first new location in five years, and the inaugural store under new parent company, Hoffmann Oberweis Dairy, LLC, with plans to open more than a dozen shops over the next two years in Illinois, Missouri, and Florida.

"We chose Winnetka for our first new opening in five years because it's a family-centered community, and ice cream simply tastes better when shared with family," said Adam Kraber, President and CEO of Hoffmann Oberweis Dairy.

Ice Cream Parlor Reimagined

The Winnetka store is more than just another Oberweis outpost. It's a reimagined ice cream experience. Building on the nearly 100 years of Oberweis history and tradition, the new store is a nod to the classic ice cream parlors of yesteryear, blending a warm color palette with the brand's signature red and white stripes. The shop will feature a new full-service counter where, for the first time, customers can watch as their ice cream is scooped.

"We’re reintroducing beloved elements like the chessboards and our signature red and white colors, while also adding exciting new touches, including...a waffle cone installation, and elegant black and gold accents that give the space a refined, modern feel," said Kraber.

This Popular Electric Mountain Bike Is Now Under $500 at Walmart

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

The world of personal electric vehicles is booming right now. Things like skateboards, scooters, and even unicycles are all getting motors, and the rising accessibility within this category could leave a lasting impact on the way people get around town. If you look closely, though, what you'll see most often are electric bikes. In the last five years, they've become far more affordable at places like Walmart, where a great one just dipped below the $500 mark.

The Totguard 500W Electric Mountain Bike is on sale for just $480 right now—70% off its normal $1,600 tag. This hardy bike has earned over 300 five-star ratings from Walmart shoppers who say it's a "powerhouse" with "great torque, speed, and range." You can get it in three colors at this price—black with either orange, blue, or white—and they all ship for free.

This mountain e-bike is equipped with a 21-speed Shimano gear shifter and a powerful 500-watt motor that can crank it to speeds of up to 21.6 mph. It runs off a 48-volt 10Ah battery that, depending on riding conditions and the riding mode, can get up to 65 miles of range on a single charge and charges back up in just 5 hours. Amazingly, it only weighs 49.6 pounds, which is on the lighter side for a bike like this, and it's still rated for a 300-pound load capacity. It can be used in three riding modes, including manual bike, pedal assist, and pure throttle, and its 27.5-inch tires are fine to ride on pavement, sand, dirt, and even snow. It comes with an LCD screen that shows you battery level, speed, and mileage, and Totguard even added a front headlight for convenient night riding.

Shoppers have been thrilled with how much value is packed into this affordable e-bike. "Overall, a really nice budget-priced e-bike for city/trail riding," a shopper said. "I've already clocked over 150 miles on city streets, paved bike trails, and some gravel trails. It rides wonderfully." Another shopper agreed, saying, "This bike offers excellent value for the price and is well-suited for both daily commuting and recreational riding."

Others have been impressed with this e-bike's power and range. "The pedal assist system is great," a shopper said. "I was able to travel 30 miles yesterday and still had three out of six battery indicator lights on...There's an additional feature where holding the minus button activates a 'walk' mode, allowing the bike to move at about 2.3 mph until you brake."

If you've been looking to add an e-bike to your daily commute or simply want to experience the thrill of riding one, there's no better bike to start with than Totguard's 500W Electric Mountain Bike, especially while it's on sale. Make sure to pick up your soon, though, because we've seen these sell out before.

This Nearly Unknown Beach Hotel Is a Quick Chicago Escape

Just 90 minutes northeast of Chicago’s bustling streets, you can find the small town of New Buffalo, Michigan, which feels almost otherworldly in comparison to the neighboring metropolis. While popular weekend escapes like the Wisconsin Dells or Starved Rock State Park draw crowds, New Buffalo offers something quieter, slower, and far more intimate, a place where lake breezes replace car horns and the day moves at its own pace.

Its charm draws travelers who crave both a minute to relax and a touch of polish, and at its center sits a boutique hotel that feels like home, only better. Visitors come from Chicago, Indiana, and beyond, all seeking that perfect blend of small-town warmth and elevated comfort.

Checking In

The Neighborhood Hotel Grand Beach is that oasis. Its soft white exterior and plethora of porches overlook tree-lined streets, evoking the timeless elegance of coastal Maine or Charleston, minus the tourist throngs. Inside, just nine thoughtfully designed rooms blend jewel-toned walls—deep rose, emerald, and moss—with warm wood accents and natural textures.

Oversized windows let in generous light, framing views of the leafy neighborhood. Bathrooms remain serene with beige walls, seashell-hued tiles, and finishes that nod to understated luxury. Every touch, from plush bedding to tactile, retro-inspired decor, feels considered, creating spaces that are equally suited to curling up with a book or getting ready for a night out.

The communal areas strike a balance between connection and privacy. A fully equipped kitchen, sprinkled with bistro tables, means it's just as easy to prepare a lazy weekend breakfast as it is to brew a quick cup of coffee. Step out back and you’ll find covered patios with long tables ready for family dinners or sunset wine with friends. It’s a place designed for lingering, where time seems to slow without you noticing.

Days by the Dunes

Beyond the hotel’s porch, New Buffalo unfolds in small but meaningful ways. Two blocks away, the New Buffalo Township Library offers the perfect place to pick up a novel for a weekend of porch reading.

Head toward the shoreline, dodging cheerful golf carts that dominate the streets in summer, and you’ll find 16 miles of uninterrupted beach, equipped with the New Buffalo Light, a replica of an old lighthouse that once guided ships on Lake Michigan. Elevated dune paths lead to scenic lookouts framed by tall grasses, while paddle boarders drift over calm waters below. Seasonal concessions add to the nostalgia, serving beachside classics that feel like the summers of Midwestern childhoods.

When evening rolls in, families and locals alike gravitate toward The Stray Dog, a lively local favorite where burgers and sunset shrimp share the menu with other Midwest comfort staples. The rooftop deck, strung with lights over blue and white umbrellas covering picnic-like tables, catches the breeze off the lake and hums with conversation.

Pours Worth the Trip

For something quieter, drive 20 minutes inland to Dablon Vineyard and Winery. Sitting atop 57 acres of rolling vineyard, the mesmeric tasting room offers fireside warmth in cooler months and panoramic views year-round. Here, award-winning wines crafted in the styles of Burgundy and Bordeaux are best enjoyed at an unhurried pace, whether you’re sharing a bottle or savoring a single glass.

In New Buffalo, life moves in gentle waves. Days are filled with sun and sand, evenings with good food and conversation, and everywhere you go, there’s the sense that you’ve stumbled upon a place that’s content to stay just as it is. The Neighborhood Hotel Grand Beach captures that feeling perfectly, offering not just a place to stay, but a way to slow down and savor a much-needed weekend away.

Parenting Tips: Expert Explains Why Flipping Your Approach to Misbehavior Works

Many parents with children a few years removed from toddler years have witnessed the rapidly emerging independence that comes shortly after. This time can also mark one of the tough crossroads of parenthood, as children begin pushing their boundaries—an entirely normal, yet still tough thing for parents.

This is why one beneficial approach to navigating the ever-expanding personalities of children is a bit of trial-and-error. During a recent interview with Peter Attia, M.D., and host of The Drive podcast, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Charles Duhigg offered a unique approach for parents to consider trying.

Parents Flipping From Punishment to Potential Reward Lays the Path for 'Permanent Behavior Change'

Duhigg, who is known for utilizing complex neuroscience and psychology to create strategies around behavior change, performance, and decision making, spoke about several topics with Attia, including an approach to altering the way of handling child misbehavior.

Attia lays out a scenario where your child is misbehaving and won't brush their teeth, for example. While a common approach for some parents is to consider some type of discipline in an effort to fix the issue. However, as Attia describes in the scenario, which Duhigg details, it's just the opposite approach that may work far better.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Peter Attia, M.D. (@peterattiamd)

"Your child is misbehaving. Bedtime routine is a disaster; they don't want to brush their teeth or whatever it is," Attia says of a hypothetical situation. "There's a punishment that you could allocate for that behavior. You could say, 'Look...if you don't go to bed now, you do not get to play Xbox tomorrow.'"

"There's a reward, which is, if you do this thing, I'm going to give you an extra 15 minutes of playing Xbox tomorrow."

Attia then asked Duhigg if offering those 15 extra minutes, as opposed to the alternative, is "significantly" more likely to produce the desired outcome.

"Absolutely...We're talking about permanent behavior change," Duhigg replied. "We don't want them just to brush their teeth tonight; we want them to brush their teeth every night. A positive reward, positive reinforcement, is going to be much more powerful at ingraining that habit in their life."

It's a flip to an age-old approach, and while it'll surely come with some rough waters at times along the way, it's unquestionably a strong parenting tip that can also help your children in the long term.

Giving Children Control and Command Over Themselves A child takes a ride on his suitcase while his parents check in at the ticketing counter at LAX.

Attia goes on to highlight a very interesting point regarding giving children control and command over themselves. While he correctly states that it's something parents badly want to teach and instill in their children, there's little training or insight into the "how" behind doing so.

Duhigg proceeds to discuss the topic of giving children a sense of agency and reveals a hypothetical situation in which parents can do so.

"Teaching children a sense of agency...When you bring home an 'A' on your report card, instead of saying, 'Oh, you're so smart,' which is something you don't have control over," Duhigg says. "[Instead] say, 'Oh, you must have worked really, really hard,' because that's something you do have control over. I'm reinforcing your sense of agency."

The best-selling author explains that this helps to teach children that they have control over their habits.

The full episode of The Drive with Peter Attia and Charles Duhigg can be found on most platforms, with the details provided on Attia's website.

ESPN Analyst's Son Was Just Named The No. 1 Recruit in America

ESPN on Thursday dropped its SC NEXT 60 for the high school basketball Class of 2027, and a very familiar name sits at the top of the list.

Marcus Spears Jr. has been named by ESPN as the No. 1 basketball recruit in the country. And if his name sounds eerily familiar it's because his father, Marcus Spears Sr., is an ESPN and Monday Night Football analyst. The elder Spears was a standout at LSU before he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys with the 20th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.

That Marcus Jr., a 6-foot-7 power forward, opted for basketball instead of football comes as no surprise. His father was once a highly touted basketball recruit who earned Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year honors in high school before committing to play football at the SEC powerhouse.

What's more, Marcus Jr.'s mother was also a standout basketball star. Aiysha Smith played at LSU before the Washington Mystics selected her with the seventh overall pick in the 2003 WNBA Draft.

Suffice it to say, Marcus Jr. has some serious basketball pedigree.

“I have a lot of respect for my peers and they are great talents as well. To be recognized as the top player in the country in my class is not only an honor but a testament to all the work that’s been put in so far," Marcus Jr. said via ESPN. "Much more work to do but honored to be in this spot. The work is all that matters."

It goes without saying, Marcus Jr. will have plenty of collegiate options. According to the national recruiting site 247Sports, Marcus Jr. already has 12 offers, including from Kentucky, Houston and, of course, LSU.

No word if Marcus Sr. will encourage his son to follow in his parent's footsteps and become a Tiger, but it's safe to say Marcus Sr. will carve out time from his busy schedule as an NFL analyst to watch his son ball out.

Spirit Airlines Flight Attendants Receive a Warning

Earlier this week, Spirit Airlines issued a significant warning about its future, revealing that it is in imminent danger of shutting down if it doesn't raise more cash.

The company's CEO pushed back on that concern a little bit in a statement earlier this week, explaining some of the concerning language the company used in some recent filings.

Still, the company's flight attendants have been issued a warning about the future.

Spirit Issues a Warning

On Monday, Spirit filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) stating that "there is substantial doubt" about its future.

“Because of the uncertainty of successfully completing the initiatives to comply with the minimum liquidity covenants and of the outcome of discussions with Company stakeholders, management has concluded there is substantial doubt as to the Company’s ability to continue as a going concern within 12 months from the date these financial statements are issued,” the company said in the filing on Monday.

The airline warned that it will need additional cash to avoid defaults and will attempt to sell aircraft, real estate, or airport gates in order to raise the needed cash.

This comes after the airline filed for bankruptcy back in 2024.

Spirit CEO Addresses the Concern

The phrase in Spirit's filing stating that there "is substantial doubt" about the airline's future obviously turned some heads, but Spirit Airlines CEO Dave Davis offered a bit of an explanation.

Following the airline's filing, Davis explained that the phrase was required by outside auditors to convey the risk if no changes are made.

"Yesterday, we filed our 10-q, outlining our second quarter 2025 financial results. This filing generated media coverage and, naturally, a lot of questions," said Davis in a statement this week.. "... The report uses the phrase 'substantial doubt about the Company's ability to continue as a going concern.' This is a phrase required by our outside auditors to convey that there is risk if we do not make changes. But, we are."

Davis added that the airline wouldbe "moving away from the elements of the business that no longer work," including "strategically growing our network in stronger markets with more opportunities and making some difficult decisions like re-evaluating unprofitable routes."

Spirit Airlines Flight Attendants Receive a Warning

Despite Davis' reassurances, Spirit Airlines flight attendants were given a pretty significant warning through an internal memo from the Association of Flight Attendants.

The memo warned Spirit flight attendants to take stock of their personal finances.

“We need to be direct,” the memo said, via Paddle Your Own Kanoo. “Spirit is in a fragile financial position, likely more so than at any point in the previous 24 months.”

“We urge you to take an honest look at your personal situation, examine all your options, and prepare for all possible scenarios,” the memo continued. “Use this time to assess your financial situation and begin strategizing how best to weather the financial impact that flying cutbacks may have on your household.”

We'll have to see what the future holds for Spirit Airlines.

Ex-NBA Star's Pregnant Wife Speaks Out After Surviving Shark Attack

The pregnant wife of former NBA star Danilo Gallinari is sharing her story after she survived a shark attack off the coast of Puerto Rico.

Eleonora Boi, an Italian sports journalist, spoke to Good Morning America on Thursday to share the harrowing experience. For starters, the mother of two is currently six months pregnant. She was with her family vacationing in Puerto Rico and enjoying the beach when the nightmare unfolded.

Boi says she was waist-deep with one of her kids when she says she was bitten in the thigh. Boi told the morning news program that the experience left her traumatized, to say the least.

"I felt a strong pain, and my thigh was burning, but my idea was, 'Maybe it's a huge jellyfish.' But in the reality, it wasn't a jellyfish," Boi told GMA. "I started crying and screaming and I was screaming for help in Italian."

Boi recalled screaming in Italian, desperately hoping she wouldn't die from the injury and that her unborn child was OK.

Fortunately, Boi and her family were comforted by a Good Samaritan who ran to her aid and applied pressure to the wound until paramedics arrived. Seemingly making matters worse, doctors told Boi that they had never treated a shark bite victim.

That being said, Boi, who is due in November, says doctors told her she'll make a full recovery.

Gallinari currently plays in Puerto Rico. He spent 16 seasons in the NBA after the New York Knicks selected him with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.
