Fyre Festival 2 Hits Major Setback

Back in 2017, the infamous Fyre Festival made global headlines for its spectacular failure after what promised to be a high-end festival experience ended in disaster, landing founder Billy McFarland in prison for fraud. Now, McFarland is trying to revive the festival, but it's not going well.

McFarland was slapped with a six-year federal prison sentence for fraud connected to the original Fyre Festival. After serving under four years, he was released in late March 2022 and has since been organizing Fyre Festival 2. But it seems like the festival has hit a snag already.

After already changing locations once, McFarland announced that the event would no longer be taking place in Playa del Carmen, and it was unclear when or where the event would take place.

“FYRE Festival 2 is still on,” organizers said in a statement to ticket holders Wednesday, according to NBC. “We are vetting new locations and will announce our host destination soon. Our priorities remain unchanged: delivering an unforgettable, safe, and transparent experience.”

This comes after Playa del Carmen officials disputed that Fyre Festival was slated to take place in the city.

“The municipal government of Playa del Carmen informs that no event with that name will be held in our city,” a translated version of the statement, originally posted in Spanish on the official Playa del Carmen government’s Instagram Page, read. “After a responsible review of the situation, it is confirmed that there are no records, plans, or conditions that indicate the holding of such an event in the municipality.”

McFarland refuted that statement at the time, but it seems that Fyre Festival 2 has indeed hit a setback.

It's worth noting that any fan seeking a refund is out of luck as the terms and conditinos pretty clearly indicate that no refunds will be given.

Jeremy Allen White's 'Star Wars' Hutt Character Will Be Jacked AF

In the upcoming film The Mandalorian & GroguJermey Allen White will provide the voice of Jabba the Hutt's son, Rotta the Hutt. But, don't let "the Hutt" part of the name fool you. Turns out, this Hutt won't be lazy or slow. Instead, Rotta the Hutt will be an utterly ripped gladiator character, the exact opposite of his dad, Jabba.

At Star Wars Celebration in Japan, new footage for The Mandalorian & Grogu was screened for fans in attendance, which included shots of Rotta the Hutt, in all his musclebound glory.

Holy hell Rotta the Hutt is a fuckin unit. #StarWarsCelebration pic.twitter.com/zmchtRV8Mj

— The Kyber Culture (@kyberculture) April 18, 2025

The character of Rotta the Hutt was first introduced as a small baby Huttling in the 2008 animated movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Since then, there's been little official Star Wars canon material to truly get a sense of what happened to Rotta after he grew up.

Well, now we know! As confirmed by those who saw the footage first hand, it appears that Rotta will be a brawler in this Star Wars adventure, a version of a kind of MMA fighter in the faraway galaxy.

Will Pedro Pascal's Mando have to fight Rotta? Will it be hilarious hearing Jeremy Allen White's voice coming out of this creature's mouth? We'll all find out in a year, when The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026.

John Mulaney Takes Clear Shot at Ellen DeGeneres

Comedian John Mulaney took a pretty clear shot at comedian and former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres during one of his recent specials.

During the latest episode of his Netflix show “Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney,” the comedian, who is a father of two children, made a joke about what it was like to attend his 3-year-old son’s first school performance over the weekend.

And he threw in a pretty clear shot at DeGeneres in the process.

“Every toddler at heart is the star of their own show,” Mulaney said during his set, according to CNN. “You know what having a 3-year-old is like? Having a 3-year-old is what I imagine working on Ellen’s show was like because people come over and they’re like, ‘How is it?’ And you’re, like, ‘Oh, it’s fun. You know, we have fun. There’s games. But some days are hard.’

“’We have dancing, you know. So if he starts dancing, you dance…But if he stops dancing, you [freaking] stop dancing right away.’”

Mulany's joke is obviously in reference to the allegations of a toxic workplace made in 2020 by staffers and employees involved with “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” at the time.

DeGeneres even addressed the allegations on air, apologizing to the employees “that were affected,” by the environment.

“I know that I am in a position of privilege and power and with that comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show,” DeGeneres said in the August 2020 episode.

DeGeneres' show concluded in 2022.

'The Mandalorian & Grogu' Just Revealed the Return of a Star Wars Tradition

In the upcoming 2026 movie The Mandalorian & Grogu, the titular bounty hunter and little Baby Yoda creature will make the leap from Disney+ to the big screen. And in doing so, it sounds like the movie will bring back some very classic Star Wars action.

During Star Wars Celebration in Japan, new footage from The Mandalorian & Grogu was screened for fans in attendance. And, according to the official Fandango X account, some of that footage included a "big fight inside of a massive walker!"

This can only refer to the Imperial AT-AT Walkers, made famous in the opening battle of The Empire Strikes Back.

The Mandalorian and Grogu panel ended with a first look at a bunch of footage, including a big fight inside a massive Walker! The film was shot for @IMAX and arrives exclusively in movie theaters next year. #StarWarsCelebration pic.twitter.com/dffT4hyt1q

— Fandango (@Fandango) April 18, 2025

While the exact nature of this battle isn't clear, bringing back a massive Walker of any kind to a new Star Wars movie is bound to make all sorts of different kinds of fans happy. For those who remember when the classic trilogy could only be watched in the theater or on VHS, the AT-ATs from The Empire Strikes Back were one of the coolest, most terrifying things ever.

And if you loved N64 games like Shadows of the Empire or Rogue Squadron, then you also remember how difficult it is to take down one of those things. Mando and Baby Yoda clearly have their work cut out for themselves.

It was also confirmed at Star Wars Celebration that Sigourney Weaver's new Star Wars character will be a starfighter pilot of some kind. In the movie, she will be sending Mando on whatever mission makes up the central story of the film.

The Mandalorian & Grogu stars Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver, and will hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

Southwest Airlines Flight Suffers Engine Fire in the Air

A Southwest Airlines flight was hit with a scary situation this week as an engine fire forced a plane to return to the ground and sparked an evacuation for all of the passengers on board.

The flight was leaving Hobby Airport in Houston on its way to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, when it was forced to return to the airport as a result of an engine fire that broke out in one of its engines.

When the plane returned to the airport, the passengers were all evacuated from the flight, and firefighters extinguished the blaze as well as a small grass fire near the runway.

All 134 passengers were evacuated from the plane, and no injuries were reported.

“We appreciate the professionalism of our flight crew in responding to this situation. Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety of our customers and employees,” Southwest Airlines said in a statement, according to the Associated Press.

The exact cause of the engine fire is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The latest engine fire comes after a series of airline-related incidents have made headlines across the country, highlighted by the American Airlines commercial airliner that collided with a Blackhawk helicopter earlier this year.

Subway Announces Major Menu Change

Subway is famous for its footlong sandwiches, which have been a staple on its menu for decades. The fast food restaurant franchise got its start back in 1965 when Fred DeLuca, who at the time was just 17, asked his family friend Dr. Peter Buck, a nuclear physicist, for advice on how to pay his college tuition. He opened a sub shop with a $1,000 investment from Dr. Buck, and the rest is history.

Now, Subway has added a new offering to its footlong menu, and it's available nationwide but only for a limited time.

The menu item is the product of a partnership between Subway and Doritos, who have joined forces to introduce the Doritos Footlong Nachos. The cost of the item is $5, hearkening back to the days of Subway's $5 footlongs.

The nachos feature the original Doritos nacho cheese flavored chips topped with a cheddar cheese sauce and shredded Monterey cheddar cheese. Customers are able to add toppings to the dish, such as jalapeño slices, diced tomatoes, red onions and a zesty Baja Chipotle sauce. Other available additions include rotisserie-style chicken or steak at no extra cost and a scoop of smashed avocado for an extra charge.

"Subway's newest partnership takes everything our fans love about Subway sandwiches – from quality veggies, proteins and tasty toppings – to the next level with the cheesy flavor and iconic crunch of Doritos‚" Paul Fabre, senior vice president, culinary and innovation at Subway, said in a statement.

In addition, Subway announced their Sidekicks menu last year, offering budget-friendly food options. The menu offers three footlong snacks with cookies, churros and pretzels. "Subway Sidekicks give fans more of what they love about Subway as the perfect pairing for their favorite footlong, or as a sweet and savory snack any time of day," the company said.

Haley Cavinder Announces Engagement to Dallas Cowboys Star

Earlier this week Haley and Hanna Cavinder took a massive step in their relationship - moving out.

"Moving day ... left me with a mess because she's been living 50-50, so its on me ... Haley stresses me when it comes to moving," Hanna said in a video posted to social media while the sisters were packing.

"I'm in a flow state ... Lugg Movers are supposed to be here, an amazing delivery service and I don't want to be stressed, so, you know, busy busy week. Let's get it moving. We're separating, it's fine...So, obviously, I was very, very excited to move today. I was working with Lugg Movers, who were super easy to book. I booked them in the app, so it was super easy to schedule."

The twin sisters documented their separation as the former got ready to move in with Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson, which was apparently part of a larger plan from the talented Dak Prescott target. On Thursday, April 17 - just a day after the video was published - Cavinder took to social media to reveal a massive rock.

In a wordless post, she showed off her engagement ring

Ferguson brought out all of the stops with an elegant flower arrangement on the beach - along with a serious diamond ring.

The three-year NFL pro had a career year in 2023 when he hauled in 71 receptions for 761 yards and five touchdowns before taking a step back in 2024 while playing without his star quarterback for much of the season.

Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce Make 'Special' Announcement

Just last week Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce made headlines when he felt the need to address a falsehood in his charity work.

“I gotta make a little statement in the ‘Don’t believe everything you read, kids’ category or nice realm that you see online,” Kelce said during his New Heights podcast last week. “Some false claims were thrown out there that I was doing something in the community that I was not, and I’m not even gonna talk about it specifically. I don’t want to bring any more attention to that whole nonsense and article and all that stuff."

“We’re always trying to get out there in and get in the Kansas City communities and the Cleveland community. But this time, I wasn’t doing what was falsely claimed by the social channels or the outlets posting all this A.I. stuff. So, just wanted to set the record straight.”

With the rumor debunked, Kelce and his older brother, Jason, have moved on to more exciting ventures. The future Hall of Fame brothers took to social media on April 17 to hint at a special guest for a new episode dropping on April 18.

The former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman felt the need to tease the guest, but his younger brother had that covered while wearing Cleveland Cavaliers gear.

— New Heights (@newheightshow) April 17, 2025

The hint comes before the Cavaliers face off against the winner of a play-in matchup between the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat. Just a few minutes later, the brothers announced Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell as their special guest.

"We wanted to show some love to Cleveland before the NBA Playoffs kick off TOMORROW. DONOVAN MITCHELL," they announced.
