Mrs Durham's Girl and the Stories that she Told

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This author writes with a good deal of humour. The warmth shines through in the characters. I have had a chuckle, and also (quite literally) been reduced to tears. That story was 'The Christmas Tree'. It hit me completely in a totally unexpected manner. If you buy this book for just one story alone, it is worth it just for that one delightful tale.
This book spans all ages, and you can safely buy it for your prudish aunt. The stories stand completely on their own merit. A quite delightful read.

Gunfight at the Old Leake Canal
Currently a giveaway draw for this book, ending on June 2nd, but also a great bargain on Amazon as they have reduced the recommended price. They will soon up it again when this book sells more, so don't miss this chance for a bargain. It's also quite thought-provoking at the moment - and please tell your friends.

Amazon reviews
Yes, it's changed a lot since I started publishing in 2008. Back then you couldn't review any book that you'd published, even if you weren't the author. That used to really annoy me because if a publisher can't support their authors, then who can? But now, whenever I buy a book, even if it's my own, they send me an offer to review. Of course i don't review my own book, but maybe I should tell my winners of giveaways to send their reviews to me, and I will post them on Amazon seeing as I bought the books in the first place. I've already told them to post on Goodreads, Waterstones, Google, etc as these have no such restrictions that I know of. Shame I'm terrible at writing reviews anyway.

The Dragon Sanctuary

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Through the ages, dragons had gradually been tamed to be kept as pets before being hunted to extinction. These particular dragons - being bred with wings too small to lift their bodies, so that they were unable to fly away - were not always properly cared for by their owners – and so the Dragon Sanctuary was created.

Born 1946 so I guess that makes me ancient. Never thought of writing until I read 'Jennie' by Paul Gallico, aged 12. Only wrote poems at first in my schooldays and did so for several years after until 1987 when I started to write fiction and actually wrote 4 novels between 1987 and 88 - only 2 of which have ever been published + 2 children's since then. These days, I tend to help other authors who don't have a clue about getting published, or even those who do, but are fed-up struggling alone.
