Mums knows best

A lot of parents control their children's daily diet for various reasons. The reason that most often tops the list is health.

I know this because I've met a lot of parents during my son's kindergarten open day. Usually, this topic will be on our chatting agenda whenever we talk about our children – apart of changing ideas on how we can get them to their homework and stuff. Many parents want to start it right. They want nothing but the best for their children and do their best to provide healthy and balanced meals for their children and most of the time, they ask their children not to take too many sweet food and sweet beverages.

But here's a question for all parents to ponder… how exactly can concerned parents limit added sugar intake in our children's daily diet when even their growing up milk powder can contain added sugars?

Yes. You're reading that right. Did you know that most of the growing up milk that's sold in the market contains a lot of added sugars? These growing up milk may claim to be specially formulated for our children's mental and physical development, but most of them contain too much added sugars, which can be harmful to children's health.

So, tell me… what's the point of giving children a growing up milk that claims to contain 4 times more DHA than other brands and whatnot, when the milk powder in question contains so much added sugars? Many smart parents who want nothing but the best for their children during the crucial growing up years have caught on to this fact and have made a positive change to a healthier option. Just take a look at the testimonial video below. I am not the only parent who decided that we could do without the added sugars in our choice of growing up milk powder.

I can relate to these mummies as our aim is just the same. We want the best for our children during their growing up years. When I see the video above, I feel very happy that other parents are not compromising too when it comes to growing up milk either. It is really good to know that I am not alone and I'm making the right decision.

We chose Anmum Essential for our children because it contains absolutely no added sugars.. On top of that, it contains all the good nutrient for the brain development. And as a bonus, it tastes good too and you can always be sure our children won't waste the milk and will drink it up to the last drop.

So far, the only milk powder that doesn't contain any added sugar is Anmum Essentials.

Parents should be smart when choosing growing up milk powder for their children to drink. I chose Anmum Essential because it's the best choice for my son. I agree with the mummies in the video. Why should we accept milk powder that claims to have specially formulated advanced nutrient for children's mind and body when they contain such high levels of added sugars?

Since I changed my son's growing up milk, I noticed quite a lot of difference in him. It's such a big improvement from before and I bet Anmum Essential played some important role in his changes due to the fact that it contains absolutely no added sugars and all those nutrients needed for brain development.

Tell me, dear readers do you make an informed decision whenever you buy growing up milk for your children? Do you check the labels for expiry dates and nutrient contents? What growing up milk powder is your child using? Do you have any concerns about the growing up milk powder brand that you are currently using?

Do share with me. Don't keep your concerns to yourself. I would appreciate it if you do. And yeah, before I forget, you also can share your parenting knowledge and your daily woes about your children's diet with other concerned mums in Mums Know Best.

This is a great place for you to engage yourself with other parents about your concerns on nutrition for your growing up children. I know so cuz I've been there and I've obtained a lot of tips and tricks on parenting as well as providing the best for my sons diet.

Highly imaginative, darkly amusing and entertaining. I was breathless by the time I finished this book. Anyone who appreciate a good fantasy would be able to love this book, and it's a gem to have in your personal library collection.

I love the mystery and I love the plot development. The characters are highly dynamic and I definitely wouldn't mind reading this book again some time soon. Highly recommended for fantasy/paranormal junkies.

An Angel For Christmas

Pub Date: September 27, 2011

ISBN: 9780778312796

Author: Heather Graham

I have nothing against a holiday romance, but I have to say that while I love the plot structure, I feel that the story's progress is rather slow. I wish the author speed up things a little bit between the characters. It would have keep me glued to the pages.

Not the kind of book that you want to go on reading one page after another, but I suppose it's an acceptable read for a lazy holiday season where you can linger on and on to read a book in front of the fireplace.

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Harlequin via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review for this book.

A snowy mountainside…

A starry night…

The makings of a miracle…

Christmas has never brought out the best in the MacDougal family. Still, year after year, they gather together in the Blue Ridge Mountains to try to make the season merry and bright. But this year is an especially strained one, with Shayne's impending divorce, Morwenna's slavish devotion to work and Bobby's reluctance to face what life has to offer. They've never felt less like a family.

Then, in the midst of a snowy sibling shouting match, a mysterious stranger appears. He could be a criminal, a

madman—or something far more unexpected. Despite their fears and the growing danger in the dark woods around them, the MacDougals take a leap of faith. But when another stranger arrives on the mountainside, they don't know which of them to believe. One of these men can't be trusted. And one is about to bring Christmas into their hearts.

'Tis the season of miracles…

If you're thirsty for something sizzling hot and different, then this book is definitely for you. A bit of a fairy tale, but not quite something for children. Definitely not something for children, though the plot reminds me a little bit of Red Riding Hood and the scheming Big Bad Wolf. I'm not the least put off by the beastiality written in this book.

Reading this book makes me feel that fairy tales and magic lives on after all, even though we're all grown up and doesn't not believe in the Tooth Fairy or Santa Clause anymore.

A wonderful, entertaining read, and I highly recommends this book to all paranormal romance lovers. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Once upon a time…the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden. To save their children, the queen  scattered them to safety and the king filled them with vengeance. Only a magical timepiece connects the four

royal heirs…and time is running out…

For practical Reda Weston, nothing could explain how reading a sexy version of "Little Red Riding Hood"  catapulted her into another realm—face-to-fang with the legendary wolf-creature who seduced women. A wolf who transformed into a dark, virile man…

Dayn cursed the Sorcerer that turned him wolfyn and damned him to a lonely fate. As a beast, he mated with women to gain strength. Strength he needed to rescue his royal parents. But as a man, he craved Reda's heated, sizzling touch. With little time left, Dayn had to either embrace his wolf to save his kingdom…or fight it to save his woman.

The heroine of this book reminds me of Goldilocks. Lost, hungry and desperate, but in a good way, I suppose. I love how the story flow and the sexual tension between the characters. The story was written in a highly imaginative way that I find all of these highly amusing.

I enjoyed reading this book though I wish there's more character development going on in the story.

I have a lot of things to say about this book, but I'll just keep it short and sweet. This book sizzles. Read at your own risk. I was completely absorbed into this book and I feel for the heroine's troubles. Life is not always fair and you have to do what you have to do to survive the judgmental society. Sometimes, one ought to be heartless in order to be good to oneself. I could relate to that. It's what I have to to through every day.

This book is a wonderful and sassy read. There's plenty of romance and plenty of drama. I enjoyed it very much and wouldn't mind picking it up again some time soon.

I rate this book 4 out of 5. I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review for this book and I wasn't compensation in any ways for writing this.

This book gave me a good laugh. A wonderful read when you are feeling down or when you're feeling that the world is against you. Very lighthearted read and would definitely tickles you funny bones. I do take pity on the heroine, though. She was placed in akward predicament many times, but thank God everything worked out well for her…most of the times. I suppose this book teaches me to take everything with a pinch of salt, and everything will be okay…most of the times.

Everyone who loves a good comedy romance should read this book. It's positively funny and heartwarming.

Book description:

As a producer on a reality dating show, Abby Edwards knows that true love is a myth. Her career and her friends are all she needs. Right?

When her screenwriter ex makes a hit movie based on their relationship, Abby's faults are projected on screens across the country. Suddenly the fact that her job depends on orchestrating hot tub hook-ups doesn't seem so impressive.

Her friends rally to help. Zoë thinks she needs to meet a guy. Stephanie suggests an attitude adjustment. Nancy wants her to get in touch with her inner Goddess. Abby knows they mean well, but she prefers to focus on her work. Unfortunately, she's already embarrassed herself in front of her new boss, Will Harper, who she would find totally crush-worthy if he weren't so irritating.

Abby's about to be reminded that life doesn't follow a script-and good things happen when you least expect it…

I cannot ask more from this book. It was really a wonderful read, and I enjoyed every sentence of it. I'm amazed with the author's skill in bringing the readers into the world full of magic, love, frustration and betrayal. Reading this book is like riding a roller coaster. A highly intense and emotional read at times, but not overdone. It gives hope to those who have none, and it taught one to perserve at all times, no matter how tough things get. I love the heroine. She's something to be admired. And I like her guts for doing what she taught is right despite of people's opinion on her.

Absolutely thrilling and I highly reccommend this book to everyone who enjoys a tasteful YA read.

Angry Birds Angpow

image

I don't like Chinese New year, and I usually avoid doing things that's related to it, but ever since I got to know so many mummies with kids through blog-o-sphere, I suppose I can say I look forward to give angpows to the kids. They are just so adorable and appreciative and I find them easier to deal with than adults. Their 'Gong xi fa cai' and 'Thank you aunty' melts my heart.

This year, I spotted some cute Angry Birds angpow packets while I was shopping for Chinese new year stuff, and I was completely in love with it. It's so cute and I couldn't help myself and bought a few packets for me to use. I wonder if the kids will like it? I surely do and my son loves it too.

Cleffairy: It was an angry, angry Chinese new year! Welcome to the year of the raging dragon!

Acting out of character

image

I was bored with homecook food the other day and I was not really keen to eat at those restaurants I usually patronize, and so, my husband drove us to Jalan Alor to hunt for food at 2am in the morning. We were famished, and so we ordered something heavy to eat. We had lala in sweet sour sauce. My husband was praising it to the sky but it was a tad too sour and too eggy for me.

image

And then there's this shrimp paste fried chicken( belacan fried chicken) It was yummy and finger licking good. A set of this wasn't enough and I wished I had ordered more of this to eat.

The meal cost us Rm35,inclusive of the drinks and 3 plates of rice. Quite pricey in my opinion for a late hour meal, but it was satisfactory as the food was good and the portion was more than enough to feed four adults.

Cleffairy: So, if you're bored of the food you usually had, will you go and hunt for something you don't usually eat or you will put up with the food that you are bored with?
