Of Xmas, pressies and intimate garments…

I am blessed with so many friends who keep me in their thoughts always. I don't know what I've done to deserve them. Only God knows why He blessed me with so much love…for I think that I am not worthy of it.

It's Christmas again…and this year…I received presents as early as November. First presents was from my godbrother. It came in the form of donation made in my name to a charity body that I supported. It was one of the most touching thing that someone ever done for me.

Then…came a belated birthday present and Xmas present from a lovely mummy with twins.

A lovely cosmetic bag from a lovely mummy with twin boys.

Just when I thought the gifts will stop coming…my friends, bloggers and readers alike showered me and my family with these. Wonderful presents that came straight from their hearts.

image

Loads of Christmas presents this year…

image

A set of book with a stuffed animal for my boy…

image

An Angry Bird T-shirt that came all the way from Sibu from STP. It's for my boy, and he loved it very much. :D

image

And a Star Wars T-shirt. It's for my son, also from STP but I intend to hijack this pressie and wear it myself since my son and I now shares the same T-shirt size. :P ROFLOL!

image

A blue Kryptonite perfume from Smallkucing and his Mamarazzi. (Can you see the House of -El logo? The Superman logo? I LOVE THIS PERFUME!)

image

Face masks from a lovely mummy with two darling little girls. This will definitely be pasted on my face soon enough. LOL.

I don't know what I've done to deserve all these presents from my blogger friends and non blogger friends alike…but I certainly know what I've done to receive these panties.

image

TSK TSK TSK. Yups. The intimate garments came not from my husband but from a lady reader who have been following my blog and novels for quite some time. I was really surprised to receive these…but well…a gift is a gift. The person who gave me this bought me a correct size and by far the most useful gift of all,  so I'm definitely not complaining. :D

I think sooner or later, I'll get used to receive such intimate gifts. LOL. After all, this is not the first time I've received something really sexy and intimate. =.= Last September, during my birthday, I even received cloth pads and smoking hot sexy lingeries from my friends. The look on my husband's face is priceless. You see, he never bought me any intimate gifts before as he's not the kind who feels comfortable going into a lingerie store to buy intimate garments for me.

Some people would feel offended to receive such gifts, but I don't feel offended. It's good to know that these people really treat me as their friend… or else, they wouldn't feel comfortable buying me these. :D

So… did you guys received anything funny or intimate this year? Share with me. I certainly would like to know. :D

Cleffairy: Merry Christmas, and God bless you and your loved ones always, and may the coming year be a more fulfilling and a more fruitful one than this year. :D

Slurpy slurpy slurp!

It was after midnight, and my entire family was feeling hungry. I didn't feel like cooking anything, and so, we ended up going to SAS Corner in Danau Kota since all of our regular lurk was already closed for the day.

image

This place is well noted for their western food like chicken chops, burgers and grilled meat, but none of us wanted anything Western that night and opt to order their Malay dish instead.

image

We ordered mixed tomyam soup to go with the rice. It's Rm4.50 per bowl, and it was something that I wouldn't mind having again any time soon. It's yummylicious and sour and spicy enough for me. Better than the regular tomyam house that I usually patronize.

image

Crispy fried omelette. Rm1.20. Nothing to shout about.

image

Their daging masak merah was wonderfully done, and the meat was tender too. This one costs s Rm4.00.

image

The boy would like to have something fried, and something crispy, so we ordered the fried prawns, which was really crispy and nice. This one cost us Rm5.50.

image

And last but not least, we ordered iced tea, iced milo and iced bandung to wash everything down with.

Total damage to the pocket: Rm23.40. Quite pricey for a midnight meal, but well… I have no complains cuz I did not have to cook and everyone was well fed by the end of the meal.

If you'd like to try the tomyam dish in this restaurant, here's their address:

SAS Corner, No.62A, Plaza Crystal Ville, Taman Danau Kota,5300 Kuala Lumpur.

First Date

First Date by Krista McGee is definitely an interesting, tongue-in-cheek and a refreshing read. I love this book and I can't help but laugh when the characters were put in strange predicament in this story.

This is a Christian fiction, and therefore, there's bits of Christian element in it, and one could see that clearly at some point of the story. But that's all right, I suppose cuz it was not overdone.

Wonderful and a light read, and something that could be easily finished within 2 hours. I highly recommends this book who loves a light reading or those who loves a good Christian romance.

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Thomas Nelson Publisher. I was not compensated in any ways for writing this review.

Book description:

Addy Davidson is the last girl in the country who wants to be on the new reality TV show to win a date to prom with the President's son. She's focused on her schoolwork so she can get a scholarship to an Ivy League college, uncomfortable in the spotlight, never been on a date, and didn't even audition for it.

But she got selected anyway.

So she does her best to get eliminated on the very first show… right before she realizes that the President's son is possibly the most attractive guy she has ever seen in person, surprisingly nice, and seemingly unimpressed by the 99 other girls who are throwing themselves at him.

Addy's totally out of her comfort zone—but that may be right where God can show her the most about who she is . . . and who she was meant to be.

The Bones House

'The Bone House' is the sequel to 'The Skin Map' and while I loved the intriguing book cover, I can't very much say the same about the story in this sequel. I very much preferred the first book, 'The Skin Map'. I believe I've reviewed it quite some time ago and I was really hooked on the story.

While this book have the same thrilling factor in it, I can't seems to pay attention to the story because there's too much scenes shift. I struggled to read this sci-fi book and I find it difficult to finish.

Perhaps this book is just not for me. If you're into sci-fi, however, don't let my opinion stop you from reading it. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I rate this book 2 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Thomas Nelson Publisher and I was not required to write a positive review for it.

Book description:

One piece of the Skin Map has been found. Now the race to unravel the future of the future turns deadly.

An avenue of Egyptian sphinxes, an Etruscan tufa tomb, a Bohemian coffee shop, and a Stone Age landscape where universes collide …

Kit Livingstone met his great grandfather Cosimo in a rainy alley in London where he discovered the reality of alternate realities.

Now he's on the run – and on a quest, trying to understand the impossible mission he inherited from Cosimo: to restore a map that charts the hidden dimensions of the multiverse while staying one step ahead of the savage Burley Men.

The key is the Skin Map – but where it leads and what it means, Kit has no idea. The pieces have been scattered throughout this universe and beyond.

Mina, from her outpost in seventeenth-century Prague, is quickly gaining both the experience and the means to succeed in the quest. Yet so are those with evil intent, who from the shadows are manipulating great minds of history for their own malign purposes.

Across time and space, through manifest and hidden worlds, those who know how to use ley lines to travel through astral planes have left their own world behind in this, the second quest: to unlock the mystery of The Bone House.

Waking Hours

Are you a fan of highly exhilarating, high paced fiction? If you are, then this book, Waking Hours by Lis Wiehl is definitely one for your library. I'm one of those people who loves to judge a book by it's cover. And the first time I saw this book, I thought I wouldn't like it. You see, the cover wasn't really inviting in my opinion, but I'm glad that I picked up this book.

I like the fast paced story and highly engaging characters and scenes that could spook me and gives me chills. Definitely one of those books that you wouldn't want to put down until you reached the end of it.

I highly recommends this book to all readers who appreciates a high quality, fast paced plot kind of stories. I rate this book 4 out of 5. I received an ARC of this book from Thomas Nelson Publisher and I was not required to write a positive review for it.

Book description:

Welcome to East Salem: A deceptively sleepy town where ancient supernatural forces are being awakened.

A high-school girl is found murdered in a park in Westchester County, New York. The shocking manner of her death confounds the town and intrigues forensic psychiatrist Dani Harris, who is determined to unravel the mystery. All the suspects are teenagers who were at a party with the girl—yet no one remembers what happened. Could one of them be a vicious killer? Or is something more sinister afoot—something tied to an ancient evil?

But it's not just Dani's waking hours that challenge her. Each night, her eyes open at 2:13 due to troubling dreams—dreams filled with blood, water, and destruction. Is it a clue—or a sign?

Across town, former NFL linebacker Tommy Gunderson finds his security system has been breached by an elderly woman who attacks him with preternatural strength. Before he can process the attack, someone close to him is implicated in the high-school girl's murder. He agrees to help—and finds himself working with Dani, the only girl who could resist his charms when they were in high school.

It will take astute analysis and forensic skills to solve the crime. But Dani and Tommy suspect there's more to the mystery than murder, more to their growing friendship than chance . . . and more to the evil they're facing than a mere human killer.

Sweet sweet love…

I'm not really into sweet desserts, but I have this problem where my blood pressure and sugar level in my blood is constantly low, so every now and then I need to take red meat and sweet things to keep myself from feeling dizzy and keep myself from having vertigo. You see, red meat helps to raise my blood pressure while sugar provides me the energy that my body needs.

My parents was in Kuala Lumpur, and my dad wanted to have some desserts after a heavy dinner. And so, despite of being full, we went for these at the 3rd floor food court in Midvalley Megamall.

image

This is not the famous Snowflake dessert, mind you. I hate those Snowflake desserts, especially the ones with taro balls in it. The taste is too weird to my liking. I very much prefer this; a special cendol. I ordered the cendol to be shared with my mum. It was nice and wasn't unbearably sweet, but in the end, I ended up hijacking my dad's bowl of dessert instead after stealing a spoonful of his dessert to taste. LOL!

image

Poor daddy had to give up his strawberry ice floss. Apparently these are not overly sweet like it looks like in the picture, but sourish instead. And I liked it a great deal more than the cendol that I ordered in the first place.

I may not like sweet desserts too much, but this strawberry ice floss is going to be my sweet sweet love for quite a long time.

Wherever they go…

I'm not in my best of mood. Just last night I was forced to give some coffee money…or rather Starbucks money to the legal terrorist who are obviously working part time on the side of a shady street.  This time around was Rm20. Tsk tsk tsk. If I were to donate money, I would very much prefer to give it to the homeless or beggars on the street rather than these nincompoops who misuse their power.

I was absolutely furious, not because I lost money, but because I felt violated…but of course…there is nothing much I can do cuz they are apparently the favourite fungal pets of the current ruling government. Tsk…I do wish that they get STD and live to suffer pus in their scrotum for a very long time. *nods* Either that or they live to see their family members to die in the most horrible way possible. :D Such thoughts really makes me happy.

Just like these bags makes me happy… they are from my friends whom have been very thoughtful and bought them for me whenever they go for a vacation and whatnot.

Apparently I am much more transparent than any ruling government on the face of the Earth. People seems to be able to guess that I really do fancy bags.

This cute black and white bag with black elephant prints is from a mummy with two darling little girls. I think she bought it during one of her vacation. Cute, isn't it? This one is one of my personal favourite apart from the handmade bag that Smallkucing's Mamarazzi gave me for my birthday last year. :D It's very chic, really. I even bought it to a formal dinner and a wedding dinner. Beats having those glittery but not so functional bag people usually carry. :P

This bag is also from one of my blogger friend. I dubbed this unique bag a 'condom dress bag', because they really do looks like they're made from colourful condoms. LOL. This one is not only unique, but it's also very functional. I can put quite a lot of things in it and I usually use it to put books when I'm on the go. Geez, I don't know why my friend thinks of me when she bought this bag. Seems like I am not so innocent in her eyes after all. Tsk tsk tsk!

The most recent addition to my bag collection is these. Another friend gave them to me as a belated birthday and Christmas present. She's a mummy with twins.

A small bag with flower and almost transparent turtle prints on it. I don't know what this bag is for, but I've already used it to put some of my make ups and sunblocks in it. :D

And this cute handphone bag

Ohhh, I absolutely love this one. It can fit my phone just right and it's made from really nice fabrics. I wonder if it's hand made? I've never seen anything like this being sold commercially.

Looking at these bags makes me feel very happy. It's really a consolation that I don't just attract troubles from street dogs who asks money from me to go for a Fruppocino or two in Starbucks as my friends do keep me in their thoughts no matter where there go.

Cleffairy: Hopefully…I can get them something nice in return too whenever I manage to go for a vacation or someplace interesting. :D

Do you make them…?

Do you make them help out with house work? Who, you ask me? Well, the kids, of course. Do you make them help you with your house chores? Well, I do. I'm not exactly' loving mother of the year' material like most doting mothers out there, but I can definitely win the Evil Stepmother award if someone were to nominate me for it.

Yups… I do make my boy help out with housework like Cinderella, whether he likes it or not. And since now it's school holiday, I made it a point to make him sweep the floor and picks up rubbish around the house almost everyday. If I spotted any dirt that bothers me, I'll just yell for him to clean it up for me instead of cleaning it up myself.

Just last week, I enjoyed reading one of my favourite comic while my son cleans up the whole livingroom. I was practically shaking my legs while listening to music while he was buzzing around with the broomstick and throwing rubbish into the wastebasket.

My son wasn't so happy with the fact that I was enjoying myself while he had to sweep the floor and clean up the whole house, of course, but I made him see and understand that this is exactly how I felt when he messed up the house and I had to clean up after him. I gave him no reward for helping me clean the house either. I told him that I got no reward when I clean the house, and so he'll share the same fate as me. :D

*GRINZ* I noticed that now that he knows that his mum won't let him off for making a mess, he's extra careful not to make any mess on purpose. And if he did, I noticed that lately, he'll quickly sweep it away before I made him clean up the entire house again. ROFLOL.

So… what finally turned on my evil stepmother mode, you ask me? Well, I got fed up of not getting any help around the house. I got tired of picking up and cleaning up after people's mess and since I don't have a maid to help me out, I thought that my son will do just fine. And I was right. LOL.

You see, my husband don't really help out with housework unless I coerce him into it, and as a wife, I don't really approve this unhelpfulness. I don't suppose this can be helped, though. The chauvinistic attitude must have come from his upbringing, just like my own father and my grandfather.

My father and grandfather comes from a typical Peranakan family while my husband comes from a typical Chinese family. Like both my father and grandfather, my husband were probably taught that it was women's job to do all the washing and cleaning at home, and therefore he don't think it's part of his job description to help out with housework voluntarily.

I always thinks that it is ridiculous to let women pick up after men's dirty stuff. We're not cleaners, you know? The 'cleaning is women's job' kind of thinking must be stopped at some generation somehow, and it must be stopped at this generation.

I can't change my husband, my father or my grandfather, but I certainly can shape my son and make sure that he knows that it won't be his future wife's job to do all the bloody dirty things, and if he messed up, he'll have to clean up!

I know, I know, quite a twisted logic, no? LOL…but hey, at least when he's all grown up and have a wife of his own, at least she'll say that I brought him up well and teaches their children the same value. :P

Cleffairy: Next on my list would be making him mop the floor, do the dishes and do all the dirty laundry at home while I supervise (in case it's not clean enough).  This will continue even when the school reopens. Don't worry, it won't interfere with his studies. I'll make sure of that.*EVIL GRINZ* Who needs a maid when you can get your son to be useful around the house? And no, I don't feel guilty for doing that. Why should I? He's old enough and sons are supposed to be helpful like that. *smiles innocently*

Great Thinkers

What makes a person a great thinker? Some may say that great thinkers comes from college graduates or university graduates. People always say, as long as you made it into the university and graduated with honours, you'll be a great man/woman afterwards. And people too, always say that if you're a college or university dropout, you'll be useless for the rest of your life and there's no future ahead of you.

But those statements are plain stereotyping. It's not true. Not everyone who made it into university and graduated with honours become great men and women who contribute great things to mankind. Not all college graduates becomes great thinker who made it into the history books and is remembered for as long as the eyes can see.

More often than not, most ended up being chained and shackled to the office desk from 9 to 5 every day and leads a mediocre life. And the truth is, not everyone who drops out of college ended up homeless on the street and took up begging for food or money as their lifelong profession.

Just take a look at the info-graphic below and tell me what you see.  I don't know what you see, but from the info-graphic, I see greatness that came from people who were once labeled as a failure as they dropped out from universities or college at some point of their lives.

So, never give up if you failed in university or college at some point of your life. It's not the end of the world. A lot of people failed too, but what differentiate them with common losers is that they persevere and stands up again when they fall.

Earn a MFA Degree and become one of these smart thinkers.

What makes a person great in the history of mankind in my opinion is not just the education that they received in college or universities (or lack thereof), but how they use their knowledge to benefit others. What makes someone really great is their courage to fight for what they truly believe in for a better and a more peaceful world.

Remember, folks, people who are destined for greatness is people who never gives up and dares to be different.

The Great Recession

I never really cared about the socio-economy and the political environment until I quit my job in a mainstream newspaper as a journalist and goes freelancing. You know, taking up writing jobs and get paid according to the projects that I decided to take.

You see, there was no need for me to really care about the economy or political stability. Back then… I was pretty dependant on the company that I worked for, and as long as they are operating, I will get paid by the end of the month. There was no need for me to worry unnecessarily about the impact of the slow economy growth and whatnot back then.

But things are different now that I decided to be a freelancer. I come to realize that my savings account is pretty much affected by whatever that's going on out there in the world of trade, politics and economy. If any of it is in the state of disability, so does my pocket and my livelihood.

Sure, being a freelancer entitles me to all the flexibility and all the freedom that I don't get when I was employed, but money is a huge issue when you're freelancing. Money don't come easy and I come to realize that freelancing can sometimes be harder than when you're working with certain company as a permanent employee.

I find it hard to get paid for the projects that I have done, especially in the times of great recession. Some of those people who owed me would gladly run a mile or give me thousands of excuse just so that they can escape clearing their payments in time.

I really hate their lack of conscience. It's really disheartening and frustrating when you don't get paid in time for all of the hard work that you've done.

There's not much thing I can do to fix that except for planning my personal finance properly so that my family and I I won't end up penniless or starving by the end of each month. There's no room for luxury and I have to save for the rainy days as some people simply have no conscience and downright selfish as they often refuse to pay for the services rendered until you issue them some not so friendly reminders.

But thinking back, such situations can't really be helped, can it? According to the info-graphic below, the US economy is in a great recession and yet to make any bouncing back. (Do click on the graphic for a bigger version of it)

Learn More with Accounting Degrees

It's a common knowledge that every part of the world is pretty much dependant on the US economy. When the US economy is terribly slowed down by the great recession, the rest of the world would follow suit; inflation would go up and cost of living would sky-rocket without any hopes of going down again and consequently, people would hold onto their money tighter and tighter. I suppose that is why it's so hard for me to get paid for the projects that I've done.

I don't know how long the economic recession will last, but I do hope that the leaders of the world would work on improving the economic situation so that the terrible recession would end soon.

Cleffairy: I've chosen my poison, so I suppose I have to bear with it as long as I can.
