RMF FM Kazimierz Gródek Tadeusz Sołtys presents new opinions

On Thursday, we announced that we have joined the RMF Group after several decades of work President Kazimierz Gródek and Vice President and Program Director Tadeusz Sołtys bid farewell. How do industry representatives assess this decision? Will the station change its strategy under the new government?

– Both gentlemen are icons of this radio station and the company. Gródek and Sołtys were the creators of RMF’s power. I am a bit surprised that these two managers are leaving the company at this time. The background to this decision is very interesting, which we do not yet know – Andrzej Matuszyński, former president of Eurozet, told Wirtualnemedia.pl.

Kazimierz Gródek started working for the RMF Group in 1995. In 2004, he became vice-president and five years later president of the broadcaster. He is a legal consultant by profession.

Tadeusz Sołtys has been associated with RMF FM since the station’s launch in 1990. He started as a reporter and for 10 years hosted the morning show, as well as other programs (including “Nie ma przed”, “Trzykrotka”, “Podróż za dziennik się miłość”, “Três tres (nastej)”). In mid-2004, he became program director, responsible for program supervision of the stations RMF FM, RMF Classic, RMF Maxxx and the company’s internet projects. In the spring of 2004, he became its president, and in 2009 he moved to the position of vice-president.

“Great job”

The announcement did not specify the reasons for Gródek and Sołtys’ departure from the company. – We would like to thank both of them for their long service – more than 30 years – in the case of Kazimierz Gródek – and 35 years – in the case of Tadeusz Sołtys, as well as for their significant contribution during the period in which they managed the company – notes Vivian Mohr, President of Bauer Media Audio.

Leszek Kozioł, former president of Radio Eska, now at Radio Wielkopolska, is also surprised. – I see Kazek as a very good manager who has transformed a company that was spontaneously run by its founder into a professional and highly profitable enterprise. We have been working together on the market for many years and despite being competitors, we have always had good relations. I think he did a great job at RMF, as did Tadeusz Sołtys – says Koziol.

>>> Praca.Wirtualnemedia.pl – thousands of media and marketing ads

Marek Dworak, former member of the RMF Group’s management board, also did not expect such a decision. – RMF’s cooperation with Baur was good after my departure. The fact that the latest incident with editor Marek Balawajdr probably upset the relationship between the owner and management a bit, but I didn’t think it would be this much. Does Bauer want to have more influence on radio? I don’t think so. In my time, there were never any suggestions related to program elements, it was treated as a business, they looked at indicators. But maybe that has changed recently, we have to wait for new decisions – emphasizes Dworak.

In February this year, Marek Balawajder, the director of the information department, left the RMF Group. The investigation conducted by the police station did not confirm the allegations of moral harassment, but stated that there was behavior considered a violation of the company’s code of conduct – Bauer Media Group reported at the time.

Will there be changes?

What will happen to RMF FM under the new management? Leszek Kozioł does not expect any major changes. – I don’t think anyone would want to interfere too much in the programming. RMF is a very well-made station. There is no point in introducing radical changes. Of course, you can always make small changes to update the product. As a rule, the music and information policies are very well implemented. I would be surprised if successors tried to change it significantly, because that would only ruin it. – he admits.

However, Jan Dworak does not rule out the possibility of some changes. – These changes could affect the station’s strategy. I have my theory about why RMF is the market leader. From a programming perspective, Tadek Sołtys was a guarantee that there would be no sudden changes that usually do not please listeners. I do not know who will end up managing it. If someone from outside comes in, they may want to introduce bigger changes, he points out.

At this time, it was announced that Tomasz Ramza has taken over as interim president of the RMF Group.. He has been associated with the broadcaster for 15 years, most recently as general director of the sales department and director of corporate negotiations for Bauer Media Group in Poland.

Political scientist Adam Szynol also does not expect a revolution in the RMF. – With such a strong position, I do not think anyone would want to suddenly experiment. It will rather be an attempt to maintain the position, perhaps to stop the slight decline. This is the number one task, but I doubt that this can be achieved through revolution. Successors should also look at the market situation, where internet radio and music streaming providers are becoming increasingly important. Perhaps there will be small changes here when younger managers replace the departed gentlemen. The question is also what happens to DAB+. RMF was against it because it did not want changes in the market that were favorable to it, he says.

Could this be a new opening in the RMF Group after Agora’s acquisition of Eurozet and the recent increase in Radio ZET’s audience? Andrzej Matuszyński would not explain this through changes in competition. – Maybe a bigger change is coming to RMF? However, I don’t think it has anything to do with Eurozet. Radio ZET’s growth is noticeable, but RMF still has a significant advantage in the market. Both managers built this station and I think they still have the knowledge, competence and experience to compete with the competition. Or maybe they are just tired after years of working in one company and are going to start something new in life? – he wonders.

On the other hand Iwona Bołdak was appointed program director of RMF and Przemysław Kula was appointed antenna director. Both were previously deputy programme directors. Iwona Bołdak took over this position at the end of 2014. She has been associated with RMF FM since 2006, previously as a writer and editor, among others. Przemysław Kula became deputy programme director in 2007 and has worked at the station since 1996.

He remains vice-president of the RMF Group. Ewa Miszczak. He will now expand his management area to include RMF FM and will continue to play key roles at RMF MAXX and RMF Classic..

Will the village headman and Gródek remain in the media?

Adam Szynol suspects that Kazimierz Gródek and Tadeusz Sołtys may have other career plans. – Both gentlemen spent many years in this company. I don’t think they dream of a peaceful retirement, but perhaps they still want to make a name for themselves elsewhere, use your potential, market knowledge, recognition. I think this is the perfect time for them to find themselves in a new medium and develop it. XYZ is being created now, there is Channel Zero, public media is still hiring for some positions – says Szynol.

The political scientist is the only one of our interlocutors who is not particularly surprised by the decision to say goodbye to the managers. – It seems to me that this is a continuation of the changes we have seen in recent months at RMF. Even excluding the scandal with Marek Balawajdr, at least a dozen journalists have left the channel. Many are going to TVP taking advantage of the “transfer window”, as they say in football, he concludes.

Since last year, many journalists have left RMF FM. Among others, Kuba Kaługa, who worked in Tricity, Krzysztof Kot from Lublin and Marek Wiosło from Wrocław, left the company. Roch Kowalski, Paweł Balinowski and Mariusz Piekarski left the Warsaw branch of RMF FM (they all joined Telewizja Polska). Editor Amelia Panuszko and head of the editor’s team of journalists Jonasz Jasnorzewski also moved from RMF FM to TVP. Katarzyna Staszko, presenter of “Fakty” RMF FM, also left the station.

RMF Group: No revolution is necessary

The RMF Group announcement stated that RMF FM has been the market leader in radio in Poland for years, and the aim of the change in the composition of the board of directors will be to strengthen this position and further develop the station. It was noted that “the station’s new management system is made up of people from the team who have worked in the group for many years, which ensures the continuity of the course set by the RMF Group”

It was emphasized that the company “is like a well-oiled machine.” – There are no more designers, the service staff is changing, but everything is set up to have it running perfectly for 34 years. This machine is a team that knows what to do in every situation – he described.

There will be no revolution because there is no need for revolution. The idea behind the success of the RMF group is stability and… peace. This tranquility was reflected in the feeling of security of the third generation of RMF FM listeners for 34 years – they were assured.

How much does the RMF Group earn?

As we described in June, RMF Group achieved a 14% increase in consolidated revenue in 2023. PLN 443.33 million, and its net profit increased from PLN 172.6 million to PLN 202.5 million. It paid out this year. Bauer Media concerns PLN 89 million in dividends.

Broadcaster RMF FM and Internet Radio RMF24 achieved record financial results in their history in 2023. With an increase in revenues of 18.8% to PLN 99.7 million, it earned PLN 23.4 million net.

Political party financing models. Will private subsidies improve transparency?

In their 2019 paper “Typologies of Party Financing Systems,” political scientists David Wiltse, Raymond La Raja, and Dorie Apollonio outlined four main types of party financing based on an analysis of more than 120 countries around the world. The first is a market-based model in which the law allows almost any individual or legal entity, including corporations, to pay any amount. However, the price here is full transparency of expenditure and amounts transferred to the account – parties must submit detailed financial reports that are publicly available. In some cases, voters can even check for themselves who is financing a particular politician. The political scientists included selected African countries (South Africa, Nigeria, Angola), developing countries (India, Indonesia, Ukraine), tax havens (Estonia, the Netherlands, Ireland), and, perhaps surprisingly, northern Europe (Germany, Norway, and Sweden).

The second, more popular type is the public utility model, which features high transparency and restrictions on payments. Parties here are supported largely by public money, and the possibility of using private sources is limited – donations cannot be made, for example, by people permanently living abroad or by companies. There are also deposit limits. This system has been chosen by the vast majority of EU members.

Why Crypto & Stocks Crash? What to Expect Next?

In the latest podcast interview, Opening Bell Daily co-founder Phil Rosen and Professional Capital Management CEO Anthony Pompliano discuss the factors behind the decline in stocks and Bitcoin. They also discuss Trump and Kamala economic policies, the proposed capital gains tax hike, and what asset prices could look like with potential interest rate cuts.

He notes that Bitcoin is hovering around $56k, down 12% over the past six months, with a 30% drop in daily active addresses. Despite this downturn, Pompliano points out that Bitcoin holders are long-term players, treating it as a financial asset rather than a simple consumer product.

Why Are Bitcoin and Stocks Falling? Let’s Dive In!

Are there catalysts on the way?

Rosen also discusses potential catalysts that could impact Bitcoin’s price over the next six to 12 months. While there’s no clear cause for a massive price surge, he suggests that events like interest rate cuts or even large-scale purchases by sovereign wealth funds could spark bullish momentum. However, he tempers expectations, saying that a full-blown bull market may not be imminent and that volatility is expected to decline over time, making Bitcoin less risky than the S&P 500.

Stocks: September dip or steady rise?

September has historically been the worst month for stocks, with the S&P 500 losing an average of 7% over the past 75 years. Despite this, investors remain optimistic, with record levels of investment in stocks and the S&P 500 hitting nearly 40 record highs this year.

Rosen emphasizes two important points: First, investing in stocks has proven successful for many over the long term because consistent investing over the long term can lead to wealth accumulation.

Second, while there are concerns about overexposure and a potential stock market crash, the real focus should be on long-term investment strategies rather than short-term fluctuations.

Dollar Devaluation: The Key to Long-Term Growth?

A key part of Rosen’s argument revolves around the inevitable devaluation of the US dollar. As the dollar loses value, financial assets such as real estate and stocks will naturally rise in price. This phenomenon explains why real estate investors consistently make money even when the intrinsic value of the property has not necessarily increased. The loss of purchasing power in the dollar means that future buyers must pay more for the same asset.

A bull market with a bear twist

Continuing with the advice to stay long in the market, Rosen sees the bull market rolling along, but doesn’t expect sky-high 100% or 200% gains. Instead, steady growth is the game, fueled by the devaluation of the US dollar. While some fear a crash, Rosen believes the key is long-term, consistent investing, with the S&P 500 proving to be a wealth-building powerhouse for those who can ride out the bumps.

People find a clever reason UK coins have ridges

Get ready to have your mind blown with this latest information.

The intricate design of British coins, from their color to their shape, is a marvel in itself. However, have you ever stopped to think about the purpose of the grooved edges on your shifter?

The TikTok sensation revealed the reason behind this feature. User @CoinCollectingWizard, who has 191,000 followers, explained in a viral video that garnered hundreds of likes and plenty of comments.

He said all the coins were made of gold or silver and lacked ridges. The value of each coin was determined by its gold or silver content.

However, according to a TikTok insider, there were those who tried to illegally profit from these precious metals.

“They filed the edges and sold them with gold or silver with gold or silver,” he explained.

This subtle size reduction often went unnoticed, but it reduced the value of the original gold or silver coin.

Authorities introduced milled or grooved edges to combat the problem, making it immediately obvious if a coin had been tampered with.

Although modern coins no longer consist of pure gold or silver, the tradition of milled edges continues.

He elaborated: “This meant then that people could just make the coin smaller, keep the gold that they took out of the coin and still use the coin as normal, so they would put grooves in it. So it would be much harder to do that. Now it’s just tradition.”

There is another reason why coins have ridges, also known as edges. The purpose is to prevent counterfeiting and make it difficult to cut or grind the edges of the coins.

The ridges on the 10p coin also make it easier to distinguish it from the 2p coin, which has a smooth edge. Since this information was shared, one person commented: “Interesting, I didn’t know this.”

Another expressed his gratitude: “Thank you.”

Movie recommendations: Tim Burton and Yorgos Lanthimos – two powerhouses of modern cinema

Director: Yorgos Lanthimos

Performer: Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemons

After the Golden Lion of Venice and the Oscar success of “Poor Creatures”, Yorgos Lanthimos made another film with almost the same team. “Kinds of Kindness” is three different stories. Each one stars the same actors, including Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe and Jesse Plemons. The most interesting is the first study – a kind of satire of the modern corporate world. The story of a guy whose life – in matters big and small – is decided by his boss. He tells him what to eat (a man cannot be emaciated), how to dress, how to behave. He forbids him to have children and finally orders him to cause an accident in which another driver dies. Lanthimos portrays a world that strips people of their personality and takes away their very will and life. Unfortunately, it gets much worse later. In the second study, a man’s wife, who was considered missing, suddenly returns to him. But he becomes obsessed: he does not believe that the person who appeared on his doorstep is really his wife. In the third story, the heroine follows an evil cult leader in search of a woman who can resurrect the dead.

Lanthimos looks at those areas of life where one person gives power over himself to another person. In corporations, in marriage, in faith. I admit that the last two acts, full of sex, cruelty and surrealism, do not convince me. They lack discipline, sin with intellectual exaggeration and seem extremely absurd. “It is not our film that is absurd. The world is full of absurdities,” defends the director against similar accusations.

It’s worth watching this film and forming your own opinion about it. And besides, Lanthimos is Lanthimos – without a doubt a great personality in contemporary cinema.

Walz is talking about Trump and the Republican Party with his harshest campaign rhetoric

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz used his sharpest language on the campaign trail Thursday in speeches since both former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Speaking at a rally in Erie, Pa., Walz quoted the state’s Democratic governor, Josh Shapiro, saying that “whenever Donald Trump talks about America, he talks about America.”

Shapiro has said several times that Trump “talks” about the country, which Walz acknowledged when comparing the Pennsylvania governor.

Walz, who was first elected governor of Minnesota in 2018, went on to say that Trump got his “butt kicked pretty hard and lost” in the last election and that he “violently tried to overthrow our democratic government.”

When reached for comment, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Walz “set his state on fire during the riots and has destroyed its citizens since he became governor. He and Kamala Harris are weak, failed and dangerously liberal.”

Trump has falsely claimed for years to have won the 2020 election, despite admitting in a podcast episode released Tuesday that he lost the race “by a whisker.” He has pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges related to efforts to overturn the election results and has consistently denied wrongdoing.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz greets supporters during a rally on the boardwalk in Erie, Pa., on Thursday.

Walz also referred to the Republican Party as a “cult” on Thursday.

“This country needs at least two viable political parties,” he said. “We don’t need one, a cult on the other side, we don’t need that.”

The Minnesota governor’s comments come less than a week before the first conversation between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, are scheduled to debate each other on Oct. 1.

Democrats and Republicans are hotly contesting Pennsylvania, a state President Joe Biden turned blue in 2020 by a narrow margin — 50% of the vote to Trump’s 48.8%. In 2016, Trump narrowly defeated Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, receiving 48.6 percent of the vote to Clinton’s 47.9 percent.

National polls show Harris and Trump locked in a tight race, much of which is likely to come down to a handful of battleground states like Pennsylvania.
