Bong Joon-ho’s film is an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s 2022 science fiction novel “Mickey7”.

What will the movie “Mickey 17” be about?

The main character of the book is the titular Mickey. A man applies for a position as a replacement employee for an expedition sent on a suicide mission to colonize the ice-covered planet Niflheim. After a certain version of the hero dies, a new body is recreated with a copy of the previous one’s memories. After six deaths, Mickey now understands why he was the only candidate to apply for the job. As a result of this mistake, the main character’s routine and professional life suddenly change, and Mickey himself has to face new problems.

In the film adaptation of the book prepared by the famous Korean director, Robert Pattison will play the main character. Although the difference between the film’s title and the original novel’s title may indicate the director’s loose approach to the original, the first announcement of “Mickey 17” suggests that the film’s plot will be largely similar to that known from the novel.
