Brief, but positive (I think), mention of Chilling Tales.

Praise for Shadows & Tall Trees

"Thanks in no small part to the taste and clarity of vision of its curator, Shadows & Tall Trees comes on like the wendigo, or a will-o'-the-wisp, consistently quiet and ominous and delicious and very welcome indeed."

Glen Hirshberg, author of The Book of Bunk, and American Morons

Chilling Tales — The Sequel

I`ll be reading shortly for the the second volume of Chilling Tales. If there are any Canadian writers out there who would like me to send them the guidelines, please drop me a line. I`m casting a wide net.

Another story for issue 2

I've just purchased Eric Schaller's "Voices Carry" for issue 2 of the journal. It's shaping up to be an exciting and eclectic mix, to be sure.

Let's do that again

Yesterday we officially launched Chilling Tales at Bakka-Phoenix Books in Toronto.

Wow! What a great turnout. Packed house. So many friends and colleagues came out to celebrate the book. I think Bakka sold a good number of the copies they had on hand. Many thanks to Ben and Chris and the staff at Bakka-Phoenix. Good people. Buy their books.

I was particularly moved to see Don Hutchison in attendance. Don's seminal Northern Frights series was the impetus behind Chilling Tales. The man is a true gentleman, and I'm humbled that he took the time to come down and wish me luck. I was also quite moved when another dear friend brought me a bottle of Veuve Cliquot. Thank you. I'll be opening that next weekend when Carolyn and I celebrate 30 years together.

Speaking of which, Carolyn, Courtney & Daniel all came to the launch. Their presence put me at ease. I'm blessed to have such a great family.

I'm also blessed to have such good friends. And I want to thank all the contributors who came out to share part of their day with us: Suzanne Church, Michael Colangelo, Gemma Files, Richard Gavin, Brent Hayward, Sandra Kasturi, David Nickle, Ian Rogers, Brett Savory, and Simon Strantzas.

In a few weeks we'll be doing a panel discussion and another launch of the book at Ad Astra in Toronto. Then, at the end of April, we're heading to Austin, Texas and the World Horror Convention to spring the book on our American friends.

I hope to see you all again very soon.

Thank you!
