A Locus roundtable discussion about EA Poe
The roundtable took place last year and consisted of Gary Wolfe, Peter Straub, Brian Evenson, and myself in a hotel room. The result is now online as a couple of writers, a critic, and an editor sit around drinking and talk about Poe, the fantastic, and horror .
We hope you enjoy the transcript as much as we did the experience.

Book Expo second day
Today was even better because I got enough sleep the night before that I wasn't already tired when I arrived. Also, I didn't have to be there until noon. I met a LOT of librarians, something I've been trying to do for several years. I always thought I had to attend the ALA or some other professional Library convention that I couldn't afford and had not entry into ...

Found out that The Best Horror of the Year, volume 2 had arrived and been signed for but no i...

DVD catchup
Over the weekend I watched the beautifully filmed, wonderfully acted but dead-in-the-water (wayyyy too long) adaptation of Somerset Maugham's The Painted Veil, with Edward Norton, Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber, and Toby Jones.
And then, the awful Live Free or Die Hard aka Die Hard 4 which was all you'd expect it to be--but still, somewhat mindless fun. I didn't recognize Timothy Olyphant as the bad guy (even though I'd seen his name in the opening credits) until the closing credits. I kept wond...
