Sophie's Portrait

Comic

Still several days left to bid on the new painting. . I'll hopefully have the Doctor Who painting finished shortly. Waiting on some pastel pencils to finish up the job.

Today, I'll break out another large canvas. Not sure if I'll do a portrait of Doug or not. My fear is that he'll come out looking like a pink moon. I'm leaning towards doing a painting of both characters.

If I make it to the art store this weekend, I'll pick up some more canvases. Hoping to find a loooong one for a painting of the "Evolution of the Nap" strip, which by the way is now on a bunch of t-shirts and other products over at the store.

First Big Painting for Sale

Comic

Finally finished the first larger scale painting. This one is 16" x 20" on stretched canvas. I'm hoping to work larger soon. For now this is the biggest I'll try to squeeze in this house. After we move, I plan on using much larger canvases. My goal is to paint an entire strip, each panel on a separate canvas. That'll need some room, like a barn maybe.

It was only a matter of time…

Comic

…before I painted Doug and Sophie as Doctor Who and K-9. And yes, Tom Baker was my first Doctor. You might recognize this from one of my Sunday title panels. Got a ways to go before it's finished though:

Save Stargate Universe

Comic

Yah, that's right, Sophie won't let SGU go (neither will I). Luckily, because Sophie has been a big science fiction fan in the past, it's not out of character for her to be upset over the show's cancellation. And, judging by all the emails, it has struck a chord. And there will be more SGU strips.

The latest painting is still up for auction is you want to :

Almost True

Comic

In reality Sophie just tries pulling the shovel in the opposite direction than I want the snow to go in. And my son trails behind me knocking snow into the spots I just emptied.

Bidding has begun

Comic

Bidding is now open on this piece:

. Also, the new paintings are taking a bit longer. I'm working on 16×20 canvases with a lot more acrylic layers. Might have the first one up next week. In the meantime, I started a smaller painting. It's a Doctor Who tribute from one of the Sunday title panels. Still looking for a local printer that can scan the paintings so I can offer posters too.
