New painting, new techniques
Just started this one. Lot more acrylics, and the soft pastels will come later.
Bidding Skirmish
Just under seven hours left on the "Dark Lab" painting. So far this has been the most popular piece. I think I'll do some more super hero themed paintings in the future.

Color Studies
One of the numerous uses for Photoshop is for working on a color scheme before committing paint to canvas. Just gessoed a fresh canvas, then switched to PS to see exactly what I wanted to slather on it. Here's what I came up with:
One advantage to working with pastels is the ability to easily lay down bright, pure color. I'm trying to get away from duplicating the colors I use in the strip.
So far I've sold every painting. We'll see if people like the newer experiments. I'll post some pics along the way of the process.

Sledding on a Sunday.
If I was to draw this strip today, I'd have to replace the snow tube with an Artic Cat.
Need some Post Pics
I really haven't posted any pics on here lately. I have a few to share from the first 30 inches of snow that landed on us and need to get some of the 30 inch sequel of snow. That and some progress pics on the new paintings.
In other news, I've started on the site for "The Prince's New Pet". Getting a jump start as I'm going to be doing lots of different content for that site. Some video, online chatting and lot's of info on the creation of the book. Certainly a fun project. If it goes well, and I get the hang of managing the different media on one site, I'll start to remodel this site with some of the same bells and whistles.

Visit the Cafe Press Shop
The big advantage of the new Cafe Press shop is that I can upload new designs anytime. Obviously, the V-Day stuff just went up in a timely manner, but I've got some new cool stuff coming. How about some Alabama Lab t-shirts?
And there are still a few days left to . The new painting is maybe halfway done? Hard to tell. I don't call it finished till I'm relatively happy with the image. That and I'm still experimenting with the process.
And I'll be digging out of my hermit hole and will hit a few cons in the near future. Once I finalize the dates and which cons, I'll post them here.

Couple of things…

And also, I forgot to mention that the "" . Already one bid and a bunch of people watching it. It's a tribute to one of the best comic images ever (in my opinion).
More paintings will be coming, but they take awhile and I'm trying out new things, which means many times paintings go horribly wrong. Hopefully after we move I'll have the room to paint at a much larger scale.
