Paintings for Sale
Speaking of Dynamic Duos…
Jake and Murphy certainly are a dynamic duo. I'm contemplating doing a spin-off strip from time to time with Jake and Murphy as a super hero team. For now, it'll just be some random notes and sketches in the notebook.
But on that note, here's a pic of my favorite dynamic duo rendered by the brilliant Colin Fix (be sure to visit his blog and check out more of his work):

Fan Boy Post
Yah, I'm a complete and lifelong fanboy and comics nerd. But, c'mon Kenneth Branagh directing Thor? I've been a mega fan of Branagh since Henry V (although I don't think he directed the first four) and Thor used to be one of my regular reads. Mostly when Walter Simonson was on the title. So I just have to post the new trailer. Have to. It looks amazing:
New Paintings on the Auction Block.
Two new pastels are up for auction. First up is the Doctor Who painting. I'm planning on doing another one based on the Doctor's latest incarnation:
.
The second piece is a might bit smaller. I'm calling this series "Panels". There will be more of this size, all taken from the panels from the comic:
.
Two more paintings are sitting on the easel right now. Both are the poster size, which seems to be my favored scale so far. I'll post some pics of their progress.

In the Works.
Here's a few of the things on the easel at the moment. Hopefully I'll find a local scanner soon and I'll be able to get some prints of these newer paintings.

Whole buncha painting going on!
Four new pieces are underway. They take a bit of time, time I don't really have. I'll try to post some process images as I go along. I try to do a little each day, however days filled with doing nothing on the paintings are more common. Still struggling to keep up with the strip deadlines and also trying to get the pitches for my new books out to my agent. All in all it's not a terrible catch 22 to be stuck in.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Doctor Who Painting almost complete.
The Doctor Who / DeD mash up painting is almost finished. Had to pick up some pastel pencils to work on the smaller scale stuff. But I must say, the Faber-Castell pastel pencils are a thing of beauty, that is if you like working with pastels.
In the meantime, this larger portrait of Sophie is still :

Pens and Paintings
So I'm giving the Faber-Castell PITT pens another go around. I had used them years ago and my memories weren't fond. I remember the brush pens fraying from a light sneeze and the ink coming off as more of a tainted water color than black. But I must say on this go around, they are much better than I remember, which leads me to believe that my past experience was due to narcotic induced psychology experiment covertly implemented by Pilot to get me to switch to their pens.
And also, you can still bid on this painting ():
Long day, late post
Sorry if you were looking for the strip earlier today. Today was a go, go, go, go, breathe, go, go, go. But here it is. Kind of a different layout for a strip. Probably doesn't look sharp in the newspapers due to the sub-negative shrinking on the comics page.
