Mix & Match 12 Block Quilt has three different block designs; Courthouse Square Block, Cornerstone Block, and Cabin on Point Block. Today, we’re illustrating Courthouse Square!
Follow the fabric placement photo, along with the instructions included with our Exclusive NEW! Quilt As You Go: Mix & Match 12 Block Quilt Bundle Box by the Stitch it! Sisters. We’re using an array of Bali Batik Rainbow fabric-cuts by Benartex Designer Fabrics.
We’ve arranged our block layout as shown below:
Assemble Quilt As You Go: Mix & Match 12 Block Quilt
Place wrong side of backing fabric on (unprinted) side of batting. Make sure backing fabric completely covers printed area.Baste stitch around outside perimeter pattern line.
Use June Tailor’s Quilt Basting Spray to spray baste batting to backing fabric!
Place piece one – 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ right side up.
Printed lines are for placement only and are not stitching lines!
Stitch with a scant 1/4″ on long side of the rectangle as shown.
Assemble Quilt
Prepare quilt blocks by pressing and starching and trimming all blocks to 14-1/2″ x 14-1/2″ square.Layout block rows as shown below, or you’re the designer–you may choose your quilt block layout!
Attach Sash in a Dash
Cut eight, 15-1/2″ Sash-In-A-Dash strips for vertical sashing.Cut three 47″ Sash-In-A-Dash strips for horizontal sashing.
Optional: Using Clover’s 3/4″ Bias Tape Maker and create folded accent fabric strips for a coordinating sashing accent!

Using rotary cutter, ruler, and mat, cut two 3″ x 21″ bias fabric strips for curve trim.Fold 3″ x 21″ bias strips right sides together. Press.
Create Handles
Using rotary cutter, ruler, and mat, cut two 2″ crosswise fabric strips for handles.Using rotary cutter, ruler, and mat, cut four 2″ x 20″ strips Sof-Shape Interfacing for handles.Following manufacturer’s instructions, press Sof-Shape Interfacing to wrong side of crosswise fabric strips.Using 1″ Bias Tape Maker, create bias trim.Insert fabric strips into wide end of 1″ bias tape maker, using a stiletto awl.Press folded fabric at narrow end of bias tape maker, while advancing maker.

Quilt as You Go Mardi Gras Table Runner Sewing Tutorial
In today’s blog posting, we’re sharing our festive Quilt-As-You-Go sewing tutorial for stitching our Mardi Gras Table Runner! This “quilt-by-number” flip-and-sew project technique stitches the top, batting, and backing – all in one step!
March 4th is Mardi Gras, French for “Fat Tuesday”, the celebratory carnival that leads up to the beginning of Lent. Follow along below to create our Quilt As You Go Mardi Gras Table Runner with June Tailor’s Quilt-As-You-Go Morning Blend Table Runner Design.

Clover’s 7-3/4″ Bordeaux Ultimate Shears
Clover’s Straight Tailors Awl Stiletto

Prepare your fabrics! Pre-shrink fabrics by steaming and pressing. Then, stabilize fabrics for the sewing process by pressing and starching fabrics with Quilter’s Starch Savvy.

Assemble Quilt As You Go: Mardi Gras Table Runner
June Tailor’s Quilt-As-You-Go Table Runner Printed Batting – Morning Blend
Printed lines are for placement only and are not stitching lines!
Repeat steps above for opposite of the table runner.
Create Bias Trim
Using Clover’s 3/4″ Fusible Bias Tape Maker, and Clover’s 10 mm Fusible Web, create bias trim.Insert fabric strip and fusible web into wide end of bias tape maker, using a stiletto awl.Press folded fabric at narrow end of bias tape maker, while advancing maker.
Add Bias Trim
Measure width of table runner and cut bias trim to fit.
