The Biggest Critic
Day 89
“Don't sell yourself short. No one will value you. Set a fair price for you, your book, your services, whatever it is that you have to offer. Most of us set way too low a price. Put it a little higher than you would normally be inclined to do. The worst that can happen is someone will come along and steal it.”~ John Kremer
There are still occasions when I read a review about my book and think, “Wow, they not only paid for my writing – but they liked it!” I don’t know why, but we’re alway...

Make A Day Of It
Day 88
“Hard work pays off”~Origin Unknown
Not all book marketing is something that you can do from the comfort of your own home. I’m an introvert, so I wish it weren't so – but it is. Getting out of the house and making connections with real people is an important part of book marketing. I’m not saying you have to become a professional speaker, but even just working somewhere in your community and building relationships can get you a long way.

On the other hand, there really is a lot...

I think I Can, I think I Can
Day 87
“Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak.”~ Thomas Carlyle
Are you permanently established in your niche? I’m not sure that anyone other than Jane Austin can answer that with a firm yes. In order to be permanent you first have to be persistent and prove that you will persevere. The best way to do that is to keep working towards your goals, no matter...

Just Ask
Day 86
“By listening, marketing will re–learn how to talk.”~ Doc Searls and David Weinberger
Fans are important – in more ways than one. If you have a following who’s read your book, getting their opinion on your marketing message can be very beneficial – and you don’t even have to create a focus group. Simply asking them what their favorite parts of the book were, what made them laugh out loud, or if they underlined/highlighted anything can be a good idea of where to get some good marketing ma...

Says Who?
Day 85
“Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips.”~ King Solomon
When we’re busy promoting our books, it can start to get confusing about whether we’re calling our selves wonderful, or just trying to get our books into the hands of readers. Sharing reviews is a popular way to market our books, but getting new reviews can sometimes be tough. I've had books go months without having a new review posted, and then have 5 new ones all posted within...

You Wrote What?
Day 83“How can you make it easier for people to do business with you?”~ Dondi Scumaci
I love that question. Have you ever read a blog post by an author only to realize that the name of their book and link to their own website is MIA? This is one of my biggest pet peeves (and I’ll be honest, I think I did it on my first blog tour). I read one blog post where they referenced their book but didn't even tell me the title. They actually did a great job pre-selling me on it... only I didn't know...

Yoda Marketing
“Do or do not, there is no try”~ Yoda
Everybody loves Yoda. He’s probably the most quoted little green guy in the galaxy. I do believe in trying (sorry Yoda), but I still love what he is intending to say. You either give something your all with the hopes of success, or you shouldn't even waste your time. Book marketing should be like that. If you aren't willing to put in the effort to see it through, why bother? Why waste your time, if you don’t think anything will ever com...

One Small Step...
“Even if you can only take one small action step each day, stay in continuous action until you begin seeing results!”~Shelley Hitz
Every step taken to market your book is a step in the right direction. Did you tweet about your book? That’s small, but it’s still something. Did you work on a blog post? It might not be posted yet, but it’s still something. Each thing that you do to market your book works together for accomplishing your book marketing goals. Keep putting one metaphorical foot in f...

It's About A Foundation
“As long as we are persistent in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.”~ Denis Waitley
If I could choose the day that my book became a bestseller, I would choose... the day it came out. Wouldn't you? Not only that, but I would want it to continue being a bestseller forever (and ever, and ever, and ever...). But that’s just not how it works. My books have all hit #1 in their...
