You post a lot about supporting minority groups. And I think you're amazing for bringing that awareness. How do you feel about otherkin?
I am honestly not very informed on the topic at all, to be honest.
Do you think people expect you to represent LGBT÷ people on Tumblr because you're one of the few high profile writers who does so in comics? I'd think that for the many people who learn about LGBT+ mainly through fiction, writers like you, though straight,
I am not saying there’s no value to speaking up for lgbtq, poc, and pwd groups, I don’t mean that at all. Showing support, even if it’s just to add your voice to stand behind people, I think that’s important.
I just get very squigy when people who aren’t IN a marginalized group present themselves as authoritative voices for that group, including when people think that of me, when it’s clearly not true.
I will continue to be loud and obnoxious in support of causes I believe in, I just make no claim to be an authority.

Hi Gail! Apart from your panels, where will you be signing books and meeting fans at MegaCon (i.e, table number/area)?
Yes, I will and you had better come and say hi, Black Canary cosplay or not!
I am at table 431 in Artist’s Alley, I think, and I will also be giving away the Red Sonja mini-prints, with art by NICOLA SCOTT, that Dynamite generously had printed up.
Yay!

If you didn’t just fall in love twice looking at this picture, HOW ARE YOU STILL WALKING AROUND WHEN YOUR HEART IS DEAD?
A Request
I have given this a lot of thought over the past few months. I get an endless stream of people asking me questions about topics of which I am not an authority; topics of race, gender, sexuality, ability, and more.
And it’s frustrating because there are so many amazing Tumblrs who actually live those lives and share that with readers every day. Following them would be infinitely more rewarding and informative on those topics than I could ever be if I lived to be a million.
So, my question here is, what tumblrs do you recommend someone follow, if they genuinely want to hear these voices?
A couple caveats, please only suggest someone’s tumblr if you are relatively certain they have no objections to being included, or to having new followers. And please don’t use this space for personal grudges against other tumblrs, if possible, I am hoping not to let this get derailed.
Who are you following who on Tumblr who writes about these topics well?
Thanks for helping!
Hey! Just wanted to say that you're a great writer and your work really got me into comics and I especially love the way you write Cheshire as a character. Just one question: When you've been working on a book with an artist, did you ever get tempted to as
No, not really.
I know a lot of writers do that, but…
…urgh, I feel like that’s cult of personality stuff. To me, the stories are the star, they are the whole point of the effort. Sticking me in there, bleah, no, I wouldn’t do that.
I’ve been put in some crowd scenes in comics, Sergio Argones has done it a few times, I love that guy. But from him, it works!
