I Let It Slip...

…at my spotlight panel at MegaCon, that TREMOR will be returning, in the new52, as a core member of the MOVEMENT.

I am really excited about this, Tremor is a fascinating character to me. Like most of the DC characters, she’s a little bit younger and less experienced, here. But she’s a character bursting with potential.

She’s Bengali, she’s asexual, and she has a mysterious past that the rest of the MOVEMENT don’t know about.

I dearly love her, and I hope you do, too! So glad to have a character from the Secret Six return…and could more characters from the past return?

MAYBE.

If Canary existed in the real world, what music genre(s) would she listen to the most?

I think Canary listens to the Ramones, that sort of thing, New York punk.

Why does your husband think he's bad at Twitter? I think he's pretty excellent at it.

Well, he is used to me doing it, he’s just kind of learning how to use it, and he has to be reminded of the difference between @ and #, for example. I think he just feels like a newbie. I would like to get him to get his own account, but I think he is worried he’d get addicted.

People seem to love him tweeting, though, people have been coming up at every con and telling him to do more.

Do you think Vixen will ever get her own title? (and that DC will hire me to write it?) There's just so much awesomeness potential! Also keep up your own fabulous writing and fighting the good fight as per usual :)

Vixen is one of DC’s sleeping giants, like Legion, Black Lightning, and Captain Marvel, that has the potential to move out of the b-list and become a major hit with the general populace. I would love to see it happen.

Amazing character.

You may not be an "official authority" on certain topics, such as sexuality and gender, but you do share the LGBT/gender etc. views of so many people and I think it's wonderful and important that you do and that you are public about it. I have followed you

You are very sweet, Jaay, thank you.

I get wonderfully kind words of support from lgbt readers all the time. I think most know I am far from perfect, but I believe they also know I am on their side.

I think it’s important for non-lgbtq people to speak up and be heard when bad stuff is being thrown around. It can’t JUST be lgbtq people shouldering all of that weight on their own.

I have to go, but thank you for this lovely note that brightened my morning.

Hi, Gail. So I have a question that's probably safely in your wheelhouse. (And hopefully hasn't been asked before) How much time do you spend on research before you write a story?

Sometimes, it’s no research time at all, sometimes it’s months.

If I am writing a personal Gotham story with characters I created or know like the back of my hand, sometimes only minimal research is needed—I shouldn’t say NO research, because there’s always something I need to look up.

But if it takes place in another country or there’s lots of history, it can be a year or more to really try to know the subject before tackling the issue.
