I love the original characters you've created for the DC universe. I was wondering what process if any you use to craft them? It seems to me that generally they have been in some way connected to established characters, concepts, or settings. Is this in

Partly it’s because when you are introducing characters, they generally don’t start off with their own series, so they need an organic way to meet or know the star of the book they appear in first.

Misfit meets the Birds of Prey, so she starts off wanting to be Batgirl, that sort of thing.

The MOVEMENT characters are MOSTLY new and the connections come later. ;)

Thanks!

You guys all know that cosplayers make me happy.

Well, two of the best cosplayers ever, Tallest Silver and Kit Quinn (you may have seen them as Powergirl, Poison Ivy, the genderbent Superman, or any of several other characters they completely owned in their attitudes and costuming), are working…

I’ve backed this project, take a look y’all.

YES!

Thank you!

Tumblr, I Love You So Much Sometimes!

You are already making a difference on this fabulous cosplay webseries, featuring the ridiculously amazing Kit Quinn and Tallest Silver!

The numbers are ticking up…they are over the halfway point with eight days to go on this fun, exciting project. If you love cosplayers, please help spread the word!

One of the many, many reasons why I miss pre-new52 Birds of prey.

Some people feel fortunate that they get to write Spider-man, or Batman, or whomever. That’s fine, I get it.

But I got to write Zinda, Helena, Dinah, Babs, and Charlie in ONE BOOK.

I win.

Sweethearts of The Galaxy

You guys all know that cosplayers make me happy.

Well, two of the best cosplayers ever, Tallest Silver and Kit Quinn (you may have seen them as Powergirl, Poison Ivy, the genderbent Superman, or any of several other characters they completely owned in their attitudes and costuming), are working on a new project that sounds INCREDIBLY AWESOME.

The web series is an original story that sounds hilarious and intriguing. They are working with highly skilled people to make this happen. Kit explained the premise to me at Emerald City Comicon and it really sounded amazing.

They are not asking for the complete funding from readers and followers, the rest is made up from other sources. The kickstarter is just to fund a portion of the project. And there are some awesome reward goals, including personal appearances, costumes, and photos.

Tumblr is good at supporting cosplayers, and they are a little more than halfway to their goal of of 35k with just eight days left.

These two women are brilliant, funny, talented, and gorgeous and I dearly love them both. They bring so much to the industry and the conventions they attend and they never ask for anything in return. They are dedicated and when they’re cosplaying, they completely become those characters. I have no doubt that their webseries will contain the same kind of commitment.

If you have a few bucks to throw their way, please do. I am certain you won’t regret it. Their page is here, and if you look through it and on the updates, you can see some of the cosplays they are famous for, and you can see why they are two of the best in the entire fandom.

This is a project that needs to get funded, and there’s no way it would get funded except by readers demanding to see it and sending a few dollars their way. If you can’t, please spread the word, anyway.

This is a chance to see some of what cosplay can add to the industry beyond the things we already know. It’s a story about cosplay, by cosplayers, for the enjoyment of everyone.

If you’re like me, you’ve enjoyed the work of these two wonderful women for a long time. Let’s support them as they take their art to the next level!

Posting it again, go take a look, Tumblr!  This is exactly the stuff Tumblr has been championing, and with good reason. Let’s make this thing happen! You know you want it!  Please go take a look and spread the word!
