Hi Gail! I was wondering how you go about choosing the questions you answer on here. Do you have a system or just answer as they come to you?

I get hundreds of questions a week and can’t possibly answer them all, so I have to pick pretty carefully.

If it’s a question I have answered many times, I probably have to ignore those. If it’s a long, long, long answer, I probably can only do a couple such answers a week. Some are a little passive aggressive, I don’t respond well to those.

A surprising number of questions are about things I know nothing about, books I don’t work on, sometimes even from companies I don’t work on. Generally, I leave those alone.

I try to pick questions to answer where more than just the asker might like to see the answer. There are tens of thousands of readers on my Tumblr, I am trying not to clog up their feed with archaic answers only a couple people care about.

What would be your ideal Justice League line up to write? Like if you had carte blanche and you could just pick ANYONE to be in the league of 7 or so?

I like two versions of the League. The classic one, which I got to write, with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (John, not Hal, thank you very much), J’onn, and Flash (and Aquaman, who wasn’t available for my issues).

The other is, I like the idea of a scrappy, younger League filled up with lesser-known characters. I would create a League with someone like Black Canary in the lead role, and everyone else be a younger, newer hero…Black Alice, Gypsy, Static, Freefall, characters like that.

Ever since reading your Wonder Woman run, I imagine Hippolyta glaring at me whenever I leave the toilet seat up.

Writing Hippolyta was literally one of the most fun things about writing Wonder Woman, and one of the funnest characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of writing.

I am still kind of irked we didn’t get to do the story where she asks Phillipus to marry her, that would have been a huge, wonderful, and much-needed story.

Hi Gail! I was wondering if you were going to attend WonderCon in Anaheim this weekend. I went through your feed to see if you had already mentioned it (I hate bugging people with questions they've already answered!), but didn't see anything. I'd love to s

I was asked, but unfortunately can’t, as I am in the wonderful town of Perth, Australia, and the commute would be a BITCH!

But I MAY be at SDCC this year, not sure. Maybe come to that, if you can?

My advice is…

…make people make room for you in your art, not the other way around. :)

In addition to meeting Gail Simone at MegaCon last week I had the pleasure of meeting Vanessa Gabriel and getting some pictures with her as Black Canary.  Overall an amazing Saturday.

Black Canary

Red Robin

Oracle

Nightwing

Lady Blackhawk

GAIL SIMONE NO REALLY WE GOT TO MEET HER HOW COOL IS THAT

This was the best day!

That Oracle was crying and that made ME misty but LOOK AT ALL THESE AMAZING COSPLAYERS, YOU GUYS.

Look at Zinda and Canary! Look at Oracle and Red Robin! Look at Girl Nightwing!

Some days are so great you remember them forever.

here is a fun story: a couple days ago i went to a reading/discussion panel with a few ya authors published in the last year! i won’t tell you who they were but like, i had seen all of their books around, and you probably have as well; they all had multi-book contracts. and all

I have heard all of these excuses and they are all 100% unadulterated bullshit.

Can you be more specific?
