Convention Pet Peeve Post!
Today, I’m asking for your pet peeves, big and small, regarding conventions.
I love them, we all love them. But what things drive you a little bit around the bend at conventions?

Say what you will about DC Comics, but once they gave me a bisexual Hungarian banshee dominatrix who did what she pleased and got what she wanted and that’s beautiful.
I like your priorities!

How excited were you to write the Villains Month Batman the Dark Knight issue?
Very.
I am sure I’m going to get accused of being a shill or whatever, but the truth is, I am an unapologetic fan of crossovers. WHEN THEY ARE GOOD.
They offer a wonderful chance to connect the books, which is one of the reasons I like working in the DC and Marvel universes in the first place.
Great fun. If the crossover sucks, then the goal is to try to rise above it and make something great out of your part. If the crossover is overseen by a great writer, like Scott Snyder with the Court of Owls, then it’s just pure fun to write.
I love them. For me, it’s a part of my fanhood I have never outgrown. Editors often think all writers hate them, so they approach us with upcoming crossovers very delicately, but they are always something I look forward to. If it was up to me, I’d bring back the DC/Marvel crossovers immediately.
The key to a great crossover is a great idea in the first place. Too many are just the same story over and over. That is still fun, but a lot more challenging.
I can’t apologize for being a nerd.
Hello Gail, I don't know if you can answer this, but do you know if Helena Bertinelli going to be a part of the New 52 at any point in time? Of all the characters that have been sidelined since the reboot, she's the one I miss the most. I'm even more worri
I really don’t know, she’s way up there for me, too, but she’s not under my wing anymore. :(

What we didn’t have yesterday.
KINDA BEAUTIFUL.
The New 52 Ventriloquist is very creepy and a great villain. Will we be seeing more of her in the near future?
Absolutely, very soon indeedish…

ALA CONFERENCE 2013
I had the best time at the ALA 2013 conference. It was fabulous, a meeting of librarians from all over the country in Chicago. They apparently asked for me specifically, which was very flattering because I adore librarians. When I was a kid, we lived in the boonies and there was zero access to books and bookstores aside from the library. I wouldn’t be a writer today without them.
I asked what they wanted to see more of, in comics, what they felt was missing. They said more LGBTQ stories and characters, and more all ages books.
These people spend MILLIONS on graphic novels each year, it’s one of their biggest growing sections in their facilities.
They were absolutely lovely and engaged. I had a wonderful time. Thank you to DC COMICS for sending me to this wonderful event and to Random House Publishing for hosting me for signings and panels.
But especially thank you to the librarians who were so amazingly kind and determined to do right by the people who use their services!

Hello all, so this is my dad, and he’s planning on cosplaying as Rescue Captain America at San Diego Comic-Con this year.
Here’s the problem: He’s 53 and he thinks he might be too old to cosplay. In addition, he thinks he’s not buff/handsome enough to pull it off a Captain America costume. So even though he’s put a ton of work into his cosplay, he’s thinking about not taking any of it with us.
I’ve set out to prove him wrong, so tumblr, please help me show this retired Air Force officer that he makes a great Captain America!
Your dad is awesome and cosplay is for everyone!
This is fucking rad and perfect and your dad is the goddamn coolest.
I would be so impressed to be at a con and see him walking towards me wearing that. He looks like a living action figure from my dad’s day.
Are you kidding me? First, he looks amazing, and second, he looks AMAZING!
He should do it, definitely!
