If one wanted to begin reading Red Sonja, where would you suggest beginning?

Well, we just put out a number one issue of a complete relaunch a couple weeks ago…that’s my first suggestion. But almost any of the recent DYNAMITE graphic novels will suit you well, they are written by people like Mike Carey and Mike Oeming and Eric Trautmann, so they are all very very good!

Next Week's Issue of Batgirl

…is INTENSE. Seriously, fair warning. I just got the finished copies today and was surprised.

The BATGIRL: WANTED story goes to some surprising places!

So, I’m not familiar with Red Sonja beyond Gail Simone’s #0 and up to page 19 of #1. But the general feeling I’m getting so far is that she’s Xena with less clothing and more booze?

I love Xena, but she came later!

Red Sonja was the first, and she’s definitely boozier…but they are different characters, really. Hope you stick around to see, we have some AWESOME stuff coming!

My design pitch for Gail Simone’s The Beef Squad, it was passed over because apparently it’s not sexy enough… Whatever that means…

Such bullshit… I’m obviously being discriminated against because I have weenus.

Look. I’m not saying guys shouldn’t make comics. Go on and have your little hobby, it’s adorable!

:)

Also, this sketch is amazing. Now there are two competing Beef Squads!

Honestly, I have noticed that there are a lot of hostility towards some of the anonymous comments. You are right, the comic should be more directed towards a female audience (not just a male audience), but I think the fear is that the comic is only aimed

I hate to keep explaining this stuff. But nowhere did I ask for comics that were aimed at exclusively a female audience. Nowhere.

But even if I did, WHY would that be such a bad thing? There are hundreds of comics each month aimed with very little thought to a female audience and only a handful that are aimed at a primarily female one. It’s ridiculous that people actually have the idea that adding female appeal to some books is somehow taking away from this vast wave of books aimed almost exclusively with male readers in mind. I don’t get why this is complicated.

And no worries about your English, it’s very good. But good representation of female characters usually DOES mean an increased female audience, actually.

Not trying to be brusque, but it seems impossible for people to read any post on gender issues without bringing in a ton of stuff that was never brought up in the post at all. It’s frustrating.

how come you are writing american vampire?

Because Scott Snyder asked me?

It’s an anthology with lots of great writers, like Greg Rucka and Ray Fawkes, it’s a big honor to be asked.

I will say though, the story is brutal. The whole thing ought to be one big TRIGGER WARNING.
