Thank You So Much, Everyone At Wondercon

I am exhausted and behind on work, but I can’t believe how nice everyone was. The panels were all busy and full of great people asking interesting questions, the lines at the signings were at maximum, people could not have been kinder or more lovely.

An amazing weekend, thank you.

The only thing I’m sad about WonderCon is missing Gail Simone, I was helping at the Mando Mercs booth and they reminded me of the panel too late *gross crying*.

I am sorry to have missed you! That blows!

Wait, I don't get it, why are people mad at you today?

Someone’s mad at me every day!

How was it working with Terry Dodson on Wonder Woman? Would you want to work with him again?

This is a weird thing. I love Terry’s work, I think he is brilliant, and Rachel is easily one of the best inkers in comics. Together they are unbeatable.

So here’s what’s weird. I was born in a TINY Oregon town in the middle of nowhere. We have no theater, no bookstore, two stoplights, for years, we didn’t even have Chinese food. It’s remote.

Terry is also from there. So is Rachel.  So a town of 7000 produced the entire core team of Wonder Woman for a while. We all still live in the same town and see each other now and again. I just find it a mind-boggling coincidence.

Anyway, they are lovely people, very kind and soft-spoken, but MAN ARE THEY TALENTED. They both draw like bandits. Rachel only works on Terry’s pencils, but she is still one of the best there is, and Terry is famous for a reason. Working with them on Wonder Woman was a dream come true.

What's your beef with Howard Stern?

No beef at all. It’s just not my thing.

But I pretty much loathe all talk radio. It’s just not for me.

Was Strix always going to be an ongoing character when she was introduced, or was she originally intended as a one-shot villain like most of the Talons from Night of the Owls?

When I created her, I thought she had great potential, but she was created with the idea of being part of the Owls storyline, which was not in my control, and originally, the idea was floated that she would meet a tragic end at the finale of her appearance in Batgirl.

When I sent the notes on the character and her full origin to my editor, she passed them on to Scott Snyder, and he said, DON’T KILL HER. He liked her, he thought she had potential.

It was never a set idea that she would die, it was a possibility (as it is for ALL new characters), but Scott saw something there he liked and he kept in contact with me and he really wanted to see something happen with her. She quickly became one of the very most popular Talons, we got lots of mail from people who wanted more of her.

I am not sure whose idea it was to put her in Birds of Prey, but I am glad because I think she brings an interesting POV to the DCU, particularly having lived many decades…that’s something we don’t have much of right now.

I want a new on-going or mini-series by gailsimone and Amanda Conner SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BADLY!! Gail breaths so much life into her characters, and Amanda’s art is amazingly expressive, any story from them would be mind-blowing!

We keep talking about it…we want to work together, but we want it to be filthy!
