Hi Gail! I am super upset that I somehow managed to miss you at lfcc AGAIN, I always seem to miss you at UK conventions! I've been wanting to show you my Wonder Woman cosplay inspired by you for some time. And generally get all flustered at you. One day I

I will be at the Lakes District event, I think that is in October, but how did you miss me? I only left my table for lunch and one panel at the very end? Other than that I never left my table.

I am sorry we missed each other somehow!

How do you respond to rumors that your new book is Secret Six?

With some pie and a ten minute guitar solo.

I don’t read Gail Simone but her online presence makes it seem like she deserves to be on a book somewhere in the new 52

Which is probably part of her marketing/publicity plan

So props to her for creating that image, i guess

Huh?

Oh, Man!

The spotlight panel SHOULD have been a huge failure, venue mess-ups meant we had no room to have a panel in, it was the last panel of the day, it was LITERALLY held in an open corner…it should have sucked.

But instead, it was great. Fun and intimate and lively (AND HOLY CRAP, BEST LOOKING AUDIENCE EVER), and overwhelmingly female, lots of great, honest and insightful questions, just lovely people all around.

We had a great chat.

And I MAY have given out more secrets than I intended. And we MAY have shown more art on my ipad than I was supposed to.

OOOPS.  :)

I’ve been terribly upset about, (what I consider the end of Batgirl), but I’ve read that Gail’s new project involves another red head. I’ve been thinking about comic book red heads and my heart nearly stopped when I came to Angela! Please, please, please oh comic book gods! Please bring Gail Simone to Marvel! Please give Angela her own series! Please let this be the red head in question!

That’s an interesting idea, but I don’t really know the character very well!

I Might Have A Hint Today

About a new project.

Something might slip during my spotlight panel.

Maybe. :)

First off, Congrats on your Award! No one deserves it more. Now for the question, you said that you quit Batgirl due to creative differences, did DC want you to make changes you were not comfortable with? Or did you want to do something that DC didn't like

I do appreciate that people are interested in these discussions, and I hope people understand that right now, I’m a little too close to it all and really need to kind of put the whole thing in a box for right now. I am focusing on what I am working on now, almost all new stuff I am very excited for, new things I have never attempted.

I am tremendously proud of the Batgirl work we did, I am thrilled I got to work with the artists I got to work with. It sucks, but sometimes you just have a terrible mix of editorial and creative visions, where they simply don’t line up.  So it was a struggle.

Other than that, I am exceptionally happy, this is the best group of editors I have ever gotten to work with, champions all of them, and art teams I adore. I am a million times blessed.

And I am very optimistic about the new creative team, they are being given a LOT more freedom to write a happier Batgirl and that is long overdue, and the preview art looks smashing.

I just don’t have a lot more I want to say about it right now, I hope everyone understands.
