Okay. This Made My Day

I am sure that many of you might not be aware of who Cynthia Rothrock is. But when I was a kid, she was absolutely my hero. She was a champion martial artist of several disciplines, she took no shit from anyone, she was beautiful and tough as nails and smart and funny and kind, and she starred in some movies that I totally ate up like candy because it was a WOMAN kicking everyone’s ass, and that was just completely new to me.

The movies, most aren’t great in terms of plot or direction or that stuff…but Cynthia had the charisma and skills to make them a blast to watch. I was just a huge fan, and every interview I have read of hers told me I was right.

She was and is one of a kind, and making kickass fight scenes and starring in her own action films when that was almost unheard of, at least in the American film industry.

This was in an interview she did with a movie site this past week.

THANK YOU, CYNTHIA ROTHROCK.

I Am Working On A Thing

That requires a TON of character research, but is fun, fun, fun.

It’s so absurd and so wonderfully surreal, I can’t wait. I THINK it’ll be announced next week!

WOOT!

On Being Poor

The contempt and disgust people who have never been poor have for people who ARE poor is a sign of their lack of their basic humanity. It’s hard to be poor. It’s dangerous to be poor.

Most of the people I know who say that poor people have it ‘too easy,’ couldn’t last a goddamn week being poor. They wouldn’t know what it’s like to have no support system, no fallback options.

Not knowing if you can feed your kids, or if you will have a place to live, that is a world they can’t even imagine.

If you have never been truly poor, good for you. I’m honestly happy for you. But you don’t get to judge the people who are, because you will never, ever know what it’s like.

About Scripts At London Film And Comic Con

I messed up.

This never happened before, we’ve been very careful. But my hubby, @RocketSpouse had to go take care of something (he keeps track of all the scripts) and we had two boxes with us, and he had the reserved ones in one box, and the available ones in another. He told me specifically which box to use for new orders.

I immediately accidentally sold the ones in the wrong box. He tried to take the heat but it was entirely my fault, which meant some of the people who reserved did not get their script and I feel like the biggest jerk ever. All I can say is that I was very, very sleepy and trying to take care of everyone in the signing line. That is no excuse.

I messed up, and I am really sorry. RocketSpouse got all the emails of the people who didn’t get their script, and we are sending them the files for free plus, I hope, a nice bonus. Obviously, we’re not charging anything. I hope this makes up a little bit for my goofy mistake.

The scripts were ridiculously popular in the UK, we could have gone through twice as many as we brought but that is way more than we can effectively deal with, and we do want to keep them in small numbers.

I promise, we did everything we could to try to get new scripts made. Rocketspouse ran several blocks to the London Printer shop thing, but it was closed on Saturday. Then he ran even further to Mails, Etc. but they could not agree to get them done in time. And he couldn’t find another print shop close enough, not knowing the area. We really did try!

I sincerely apologize. We are going to make this up to you by the end of the day today! If you haven’t heard from us, drop a note tomorrow in case we can’t read your email or something. Okay?

Thank you all for being so gracious and understanding. We are working up a new system so this doesn’t happen again.

I am thinking about Secret Six 100% of the time

Heh.

The time that isn’t taken up with thinking about Hobbits and Red Sonja, for me, is pretty much thinking up Secret Six or Birds of Prey or Ryan Choi.

In regards to the last post, I wouldn't call it homage, more like an Easter egg for fans of the original BoP.

It’s a different chemistry, but still a lot of fun, is all.
