I think Gail is trying to tell us something...
Hey Gail, how angry are you over NBC's Bi-erasure of Constantine and admission that they think his smoking is more important than his sexuality? I'm trying to get everyone to band together on the #Biblazer tag on twitter to let NBC know that is NOT COOL. -
Wha? I haven’t heard any of this!

I want you to know that today is my birthday and if that is Secret Six I'm gonna cry oh my absolute goodness gracious. That book is everything, absolutely everything to me. But knowing you're gonna do ANYTHING is birthday gift enough. Thank you thank you t
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I can’t say what my new book is but it does have some fun stuff and also that one guy and that other girl and ALSO GREAT STUFF!
Hi Gail, I wanted to ask you a question from a creator's POV. I love going to conventions and would love to some day cosplay, but have yet to do so (mainly just don't have the time to make the costumes). The thing is, I also am working towards a career in
I want to be a little bit careful, because there may be someone who actually judges someone’s work by the fact that they cosplay, but jeez, that would be one lousy editor.
I guess it is possible that some editors might be that small-minded. I hate to think it, I can guarantee that editors USED to think that way and used to mock cosplayers openly, but I would hope they had outgrown it.
I feel like you should still go ahead, if they genuinely care that you are cosplaying, break in anyway just out of spite.

A Little Thank You
Okay, this month has been surreal in the extreme. Some amazing things have happened that, even in my wildest daydreams as a hairdresser, I would never have imagined even remotely possible.
So this entire month, I have been thinking about readers. Every good thing happening in…
We have advice on their from people like Greg Pak, Dan Slott, Adam Hughes, and tons more, but also from retailers, editors, convention organizers and more.
And lots, LOTS more coming.
I hope people take advantage of this stuff, some of it was very helpful to me and I have been doing this for years!

A Little Thank You
Okay, this month has been surreal in the extreme. Some amazing things have happened that, even in my wildest daydreams as a hairdresser, I would never have imagined even remotely possible.
So this entire month, I have been thinking about readers. Every good thing happening in my career, I owe to readers. Readers read my parody column, they supported Women in Refrigerators, they made Deadpool and Birds of Prey into hits, on and on. Publishers and editors can move on, but readers have always been there for me and urgh, I get mushy thinking about it.
So here’s the thing. For years, I have been collecting little bits of advice from comics pros in every facet of the industry. Without question, the biggest requests I get every week are questions about the industry…how to break in, questions of craft, and practical questions about surviving once you get published.
I wanted to create a place where readers could get advice from the best, not just about craft, but also practical, concrete things, like how to not upset your artist, what an editor looks for in a portfolio, and how to talk to retailers.
There are some great books on the subject, definitely read those. But I started a tumblr for this amazing information and asked a million friends to contribute. A few things are reprinted with permission. The rest is all new stuff.
This is a little way to thank some of the readership, and hopefully help some of you pursue your dreams. LOTS more stuff coming. Hope you enjoy!
A Lovely Moment
I am fortunate enough to have lovely readers say amazing things all the time, most of which I don’t ever repeat because they feel very private and precious. This trip to the UK, I have met some readers who shared very profound things with me about what comics have done for them. It is very humbling and I often find myself without words to respond properly.
This weekend, an incredibly lovely young woman came up and just said, “Thank you for showing people like me.”
We talked about Scandal for a while, but I was trying not to cry because, jeez, that really hit hard, it seemed such a simple thing to say but it has stuck with me all night.
So to the lady with the amazing hairstyle and her lovely friends, thank you so much. Your kind words meant so much. And I agree, Scandal is awesome. :)
