I had no idea you had fibromyalgia, too! I've been a fan of you for so long but I never knew we had that in common. I'm really glad you can get through the pain and keep doing your amazing work.

Thank you for the kind words, I only recently revealed it online. It’s been a long struggle, one that is ongoing.

Just part of my life at this point.

Hi Gail! I've been wanting to jump into Wonder Woman's lore for some time, but I don't know where to start! Do you have a particular story in mind that I can start with, or a particular writer I should look in to? Your advice on the matter is much apprecia

I am wild about the runs of Rucka, Perez and Jimenez, they all did great stuff. If you want to try one of mine, the CIRCLE is my fave WW tpb.

A lot of people rave about the current WW run but I have not read it yet. Good luck!

So my younger brother gets a little snotty when it comes to comics (he once tried to tell me there WERE fan fangirls) and whenever he brings up Deadpool I'm tempted to tell him I know the awesome lady who wrote him just to see if he's a little less smug.

Heh.

Maybe he’s just uninformed?

The fun thing is, right now there are actually CHOICES of female writers he could try…Kelly Sue’s great superheroes and western, Marjorie’s espionage and mutants, Amanda Conner co-writing Harley Quinn.

He might actually find he enjoys some of these!

Beware Being on Panels When You Are Exhausted

Because on the panel I linked to a few minutes ago, I actually told people NOT to make three-dimensional female characters.

Why? I have no idea. :)

I just realized that following @gailsimone on Twitter is like following Deadpool because so much of that wackiness we associate with him came from her brain first.

That is nice of you to say!

I think Joe Kelly cast the biggest shadow on that character, though.

Strong Women & the Creators that Empower Them.

It’s the full panel, but worth your time:

"If you can take a character and replace her with a sexy lamp and your plot still functions then…fuck you…" - DeConnick

That was the first time Kelly Sue and I were ever on the same panel and I was so happy!

It Is Far, Far Easier...

It Is Far, Far Easier...:

…for the mainstream to embrace a feminist message, no matter how trivial or weighty, if it comes from a male source.

That will always be weird to me.

Those of you always wondering why I don’t ever shut up about feminist stuffs

This is why

My words are…

I don’t know where this ‘scorn’ thing is coming from. I am not blaming male allies, I tend to assume they mean well (although some do talk right over actual female voices, which is just a different form of mansplaining).

I am happy and grateful we have male allies. But it can be frustrating watching women make a point, and it’s not taken seriously until a guy says the same thing.
