"In this community, this cape thing… I have a lot of people I respect. A smaller handful I trust. And a couple I flat-out adore. Black Canary is in the center of all those groups. I haven’t been back in the cowl very long. But Dinah’s faith in me never wavered. So, yeah. I just love her, all right?"

I like friendships in my superheroes, dammit!

Scripts for Boston Comic Con!

Okay, so…this is a bit tangly.

I had a rotten health weekend this past week and was unable to write or even organize my thoughts. Because of this, I didn’t have the time to separate out some scripts for Boston or get them printed, even though a bunch of people have already asked me to do so.

So I was feeling pretty bummed about letting people down. Went to the doctor, got some meds, and then just on off-chance, I called the print shop that we trust to do the scripts (I live in a TEENSY remote Oregon town) and they very, very, very kindly agreed to do them on a rush if I could get the scripts to them right away.

SO!

If I can get these to them in the next hour or so, we are golden.

I have chosen

SECRET SIX #12

RED SONJA #6

BATGIRL #26

And one more script, haven’t decided if it’ll be Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, Tomb Raider, The Atom, the Movement, or Gen13 or something. Not sure yet, I am still trying to work it out.

Same deal as always, I am only bringing 20 of each, they will absolutely sell out, and once they are gone, they will not be reprinted ever. They are just fifteen dollars each.

HOWEVER, because I am behind and trying to get ready for the con and the flights, I will not be able to take reserves in advance this time, I don’t think.

So if you want one, or more than one, that’s lovely, but I suggest coming by my table at the Boston Comic Con as soon as you possibly can make the time. I will save a few back for Sunday for people only coming that last day.  You don’t have to wait in a signing line, just come and let the tall blond guy next to me (that’s my  hubby!) what you want, okay?

So that’s the thing. If all goes well, we will have the scripts out at my signing table first thing. But we won’t likely be taking reserves, so it’ll be first come, first served, okay? If you have some very good reason why you can’t come the first day, drop me a direct message or something and we will try to figure something out.

Okay?

Can’t wait to see everyone! Yay, Boston!

EDITED TO ADD: By special request, the fourth script will be THE MOVEMENT ISSUE ELEVEN.

Thank you again!

Thoughts on the casual sexism between Cyborg & Shazam in Justice League #32?

I don’t know what this is referring to but those are two characters I would never imagine as sexist.

What happened?

Quick Question About Comics

Just wondering, not trying to pretend this is truly representative.

But how many comics are on your pull list that have a female lead as the title character?

How many that have an lgbtq character as the lead?

How many that have a POC as the lead?

Not counting team books, please.

Gail Simone has been one of my favourite writers...

jamesdleech:

Gail Simone has been one of my favourite writers since I read her run on Secret Six. The dark sense of humour, shifting loyalties and various warped moral codes made it a must read for me, and I have since sought out her other work, which universally shows an empathy and eye for human behaviour that marks her not only as a brilliant writer, but a great person. Her battles on the internet and in print for people who find themselves marginalised in society are a wake up call for an industry & fanbase that sorely needs it. And, having met Gail & her husband at the London Film & Comic Con, I can confirm they are as awesome as you might expect!

Anyway. I may have missed the boat slightly, but, at least when I started drawing this, it was Gail’s birthday, and I felt I should mark that somehow. So happy birthday, Gail!

Reblogging because I LOVE THIS DRAWING!

It was so lovely to meet you, James! :)
