"Thank You for protecting Dami ." it always surprises me that people still say stuff like that. Damian is the son of Batman a hero,I have to deal with this stuff all the time in real life. It’s not funny for me. Since I’m Asian, the constant racist rema

I am very sorry to hear this, people can be shitheads, but it’s important to remember that what THEY think of you comes from their own problems, not any inadequacy on your part.

I am glad to know you’re out there, fighting. It would be lovely if that was no longer necessary.

Do you ever find yourself getting a little weary of Tumblr?

I still love seeing the art and stuff, but I seem to remember the conversations being a little more lively.

I don’t know if Tumblr has changed or if it’s something I am doing wrong (entirely possible).

Was Alex Hayden asian?

Physically, yes. Mentally, he was half-Asian.

What's your opinion on the Birds of Prey TV series?

I only saw the pilot. I spoke a lot with the show’s creator, Laeta Kalgrodis, and she could not have been more wonderful, but they didn’t really let her make the show she intended to make, which was much closer to the comic. I love Dina Meyer as Oracle, though!

Okay. About being rude.

I can deal with trolls. They don’t really bug me.

But I have a few people here who email me every day, sometimes several times a day, after I have told them I will not respond any more.

I can only spend so much time responding to email and DMs.  I think I probably do more such responses than virtually anyone in comics, and it’s all unpaid, and on top of my regular work assignments, which are many.

I am happy to do that. But responding does not mean I owe you email or responses every single day for the rest of my life. And if you are asking for personal responses (no kidding, some of these people email me four times a day, sometimes under their handles and sometimes under ‘anonymous’ with the exact same wording) when I have already answered your question repeatedly, you are not endearing yourself to me.

If you are asking for this much of my time while posting insulting, completely dishonest and inaccurate crap about me elsewhere, I am absolutely baffled as to why you think I owe you any more of my time than I have already spent on you.

I don’t know if you realize how creepy it looks to be sent essentially the same private posts day in and day out for YEARS. I have tried to be kind, I have tried to be understanding, but enough is enough, and your posts will no longer be read, not even looked at.

99% of the people who DM me could not be nicer. Even the obvious trolls sometimes have at least a point of view and make their points and move on. Emailing me EVERY DAY FOR YEARS with only minor variations in the wording is not cool. Seriously. I don’t care what the reasoning is at this point, I just will not be reading this stuff anymore, under any circumstances.

I’m sorry, but enough is well past enough, and no one should have to deal with this shit.

Oh, I see. I wasn't aware that it wasn't really your decision there, and sorry if I made it seem like it was &/or if that bothered you. Thanks for answering though! :)

Not bothering at all, how could you know?

It’s just that it was frustrating at the time. I’m glad Cass is coming back. I wish she had a bigger platform, she needs her own book!

Hey Gail, Why is it that you never had a Bat on the Birds of Prey team, like Cassandra, Stephanie, or Kate? I know it might not have worked with the whole Bird theme but I was wondering what your reasons were, if there were any

Urgh.

I fought for ages to get Cass on the team. I didn’t have Steph or Kate because they already had books when I was doing Bop and we were trying to spotlight female characters who didn’t have a book already, who didn’t have a spotlight.

Cassandra had lost the Batgirl mantle…we fought, begged, bribed and pleaded to get her. When they did the new52 and she was benched, I argued with higher-ups CONSTANTLY trying to find ways where they would let me bring her back. I offered to do books I wouldn’t normally write JUST so she wouldn’t be on the bench. To no avail.

It was not for lack of trying. And I used Stephanie and Kate whenever I could, but they had a spotlight where the rest of the BOPpers did not.
