Did you get a lot of money from re launching dead pool cause I have student loans and uhhhhhh....
Not as much as I got for creating Spider-man!
I think I know why it blew up. Most women who love comics have had men who love comics try to tell us we don't love them in the right way or that we really don't know anything about comics. When we read your tweet, we didn't think, "That's adorable. He did
Well, it does happen to me, it’s happened a lot, and it can go from slightly amusing to sort of annoying.
:)
But it didn’t happen in this case, I don’t feel, and I hate to see things that aren’t really true become bigger deals than they are, you know? I get why people are upset about not being considered ‘true nerds,’ that’s frustrating, but I do want the conversation to be honest and truthful.

Sorry you got hate today. I know you don't need to hear this probably, you're Gail Simone, but I think you are just awesome!
Thank you!
I don’t worry about the hate, it seems like mostly a misunderstanding to me.
can't lie if id seen you in line id not have known who you were, would have likely gone on a rant about deadpools superfan collecting his peices or alternate universes etc, is it true though that deadpool has always basically been Ryan Renolds?
Heh. I don’t know actors so I wouldn’t have known Ryan Reynolds when I was writing the book.
And I keep saying this, but it was never about, “Harrumph, how does he not RECOGNIZE ME?” There is absolutely NO reason why he should recognize me. I still can’t pick most creators out of a line-up after years in the business.
I GENUINELY thought it was kind of a cute story and somehow it blew up.
Have you been following the LGBTFansDeserveBetter and WeDeservedBetter movement? I'm watching it unfold, fans upset over Female Queer characters being killed just for shock value and being considered "representation" and I can't help but see the parallels
I have been.
I think it’s great. These tropes, these things where we keep seeing the same cliches over and over again with lgbtq characters, they do not happen in a vacuum. Someone makes those decisions. They may not realize they are part of a bigger trend that is shitty at its core, but that doesn’t change the fact that they could have avoided these tropes entirely if they cared enough to look into them.
We all mess up, every creator, every creative person. I like this movement because they want things to be better. Good for them, they have my absolute support forever.

i feel bad for reblogging that first one now. (i'm going to reblog the other one a few times and hope enough people see it)
It’s not a big deal, if people ONLY see that first tweet, they will understandably think it’s something other than what it was, just some guy happy to see a movie with his hero and wanting to talk about it.
The problem with twitter!
Thank you so much for writing Deadpool. If you'd never had, life would have been so much more crappy. There wouldn't be the two exact same posters I got for my birthday of Deadpool (one of which is on my wall) nor would there have been the adorable Funko P
Well, this note is absolutely lovely and thank YOU so much.
Listen, Deadpool is a favorite. I miss writing him, I LOVED writing him, I love that he was rude and not very polite. And he changed my career for sure, it was the first time I realized there might actually be a space for me in comics.
But the bigger deal is, it’s just like I said here on Tumblr a few minutes ago. Deadpool fans are amazing. They bring the joy to every con they go to, they love what’s GREAT about comics, and they’ve never been anything but amazing to me. So when I meet someone who loves Deadpool, I can’t help but already like them by default.
I was in Shanghai, at the first western comic con in China, and I didn’t know how it would go, no one knew if the readers would know who we were.
So I was nervous, until we walked in, and saw a dozen Deadpool and Lady Deadpool cosplayers. It turns out, Wade is universal. :)
