The other side of the coin when it comes to the Ghost Rider lawsuit.

I love Ty to pieces and I still disagree with this SO MUCH.

Oh my god, this totally worked on me. As in, I didn't recognize it.

TUMBLR JUSTIFIED.

LOVE. So much LOVE.

I sometimes wish I were a lot less picky and more tolerant of musical numbers and pop culture references in everything. Because I almost absolutely loved Mulan, but a lot of the stuff involving Mushu and one or two of the song sequences just somehow rubbed me the wrong way. Didn't flow right to me. I however will forever approve of the art.

Maybe it's just that the story to me called for a more serious, and more adult handling in general. Which I know, people already tell me all the time "DISNEY, geeeez." (I get rather annoyed btw when anytime I say something in a Disney film struck me as too silly, people bring up "it's for kids". So's Totoro; things can be light-hearted without being constant silly, and not all themes WORK with silly.)

But back to Mulan itself— I do remember seeing it in the theater, and hearing a small child, very puzzled, ask the adult that they were with.. "Why are they saying she HAS to get married?" and "Why is she having to be a MAN?"

The directors did not want to put the musical numbers in and fought against it, but lost.

My biggest problem with watching Mulan is that I have watched it a gabillionteen times and am running out of excuses to watch it another fortabulatillion.

Happy Valentine's Day

If you have a sweetie, I hope it's a lovely, romantic and meaningful day for you both.

But not everyone has a sweetheart. A lot of people are lonely, or alone by choice.

IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY CAN'T HAVE A  LOVELY DAY.

I hope the best for everyone, and if no one is out there smart enough to be spoiling you with treats and bubble baths, by no means does that mean you can't give yourself those things!

Happy day to everyone, and don't eat too much chocolate. Or, conversely, DO.

Birthday Haul: Comics (by subatomiclaura)

One of the best things about reviewing books is seeing people actually buying them and enjoying them. This wonderful person bought the Secret Six graphic novels because of our reviews of the Secret Six series, and the final book, The Darkest House.

Well, happy, happy birthday!  And I hope you enjoy the books, we clearly need more comics readers of such taste and distinction. ;)

Also, another shout-out to the great GOODLESBIANBOOKS.COM !

Look at what I found! Ok, if you live in Florida and can handle entering Pasco County, I recommend going to Yancy Street Comics at Gulfview Mall. Since nobody in Pasco County can read (I'm kidding. Too mean?), they have a bunch of back issues I couldn't find anywhere else around here.

That's awesome…I AM going to be at that shop on Free Comic Book Day and I can't wait to meet everybody!  Also, I love that cover. It's sexed up a bit, I admit, but DANG!

Wait! You're going to be at Yancy Street Comics in Port Richey, FL on Free Comic Book Day? Port Richey, FL?

I am indeed going to be at BOTH on Free Comic Book Day!

Never been at two stores on once FCBD before, I am quite looking forward to it!

Secret Six mini 4/6

Writing dialogue for the Hatter was my favorite part of that collection. A bat-writing friend of mine said it was the first time they'd ever WANTED to see the Hatter in comics.

He was being nice, but it brought around the point that readers are so Joker- and Catwoman-happy that they tend not to like the villains like the Penguin and the Mad Hatter.

I don't know what to say to that…i LOVE Oswald and Jervis SO MUCH more than the Joker. I think they are vastly more interesting. Every chance I get to write either one, I take it. What I love is that they don't seem intimidating. They don't kill everyone who crosses their path, which gets a little windy and dull, to my mind.

Their ugliness comes out SLOWLY. And when it does, it's devastating. Love those two.

Someone asked my what my wish was today, for my birthday.
I said for dc to release an omnibus of @GailSimone's amazing run of
#SecretSix
They looked at me puzzled,as I stared wistfully into the air.
then I tried to explain what the comic was & they left.

#HappyBirthdayToMe

I can't help with that, exactly, but I DO wish you a very happy birthday and a virtual cake with your favorite Sixer popping out of it (preferably not baked inside)!
