Simply one of the best in the business. No other artist I have worked with had the level of telepathy that she and I had…we barely needed to discuss a scene and she always knew immediately what the subtext was and would put it right on the page. Fantastic.

ALSO, she should be a great inspiration to artists who put their work on Tumblr. It was that Wonder Woman piece in the upper left corner, passed around on message boards, that got her the Birds of Prey gig!

I love this bit of graffiti at a rest stop in Secret Six: Unhinged, because it's the sort of thing you would see in the U.S. in a world that was mostly equivalent to ours, but with the addition of Superman.

I find theology in the DCU to be fascinating. I myself am an atheist, but it's very difficult to imagine what my belief system would be in a universe where the Spectre is the right hand of God and people have actually gone to Hell and returned.

Plus, the angels/demons/metahuman corollary is very rich and interesting.

I think you could still be an atheist, but your approach would have to explain the difference between metahuman powers and miracles.  I find it all very compelling, and I obviously go to that well pretty often. I have had people yelling at me for 'supporting' religious views that I don't hold, but that the characters do, which I always see as understandable, but a little bit of a sad statement on how we process fiction currently.

[Emphasis mine.]

Yeah, trust me, a failure to separate character's beliefs from the author's is not why people are yelling at you.

People yell at me for all sorts of reasons, some with justification and some purely invented. Perhaps you could explain what it is you are referring to?

It has come to my attention that I'm a Black comic book writer.

Not that I suddenly realized that I'm a Black dude; it's not like I've been living my life in some bizarre racial version of that "Eye of the Beholder" Twilight Zoneepisode. It's just that for 15 years or so, my professional…

Deep thoughts from the great Marc Bernadin.

One thing among many I like about this is how we see a vital aspect of Diana's character made manifest here. That she is a fully realized woman, and whatever insecurities she may have as a living being, she does not apologize, nor should she, for being who and what she is. She is Diana, Princess of the Amazons, and she will not be belittled for it, nor will she be made to feel a need to apologize for it.

I loved this story line.

LOVE this story.  :)

But I think that's Terry Dodson drawing that. The great Ron Randall stepped up to do a few pages when Terry hurt his hand. But this is pure Terry, I'm pretty sure (and Rachel Dodson, one of the best, inking!).

Thank you, that was a definite goal. The writer before me did a MAGNIFICENT job of getting people to look at Wonder Woman again, but he introduced the idea that she was a Golem, similar to Hebrew mythology, and I really had a problem with that.

My idea with Wonder Woman was to make her millions of versions cohere, I wanted to make something that had all her previous aspects, and not be ashamed of them or try to hide them.

But there were two elements I felt did not fit and I did my best to, not negate them, but offer a different viewpoint. One was the large role rape played in her origin, including the seduction-by-gods stuff, and the other was the idea that she's a golem.  Pretty much everything else, I tried not to negate, to bring into the myth.

I think that may have been a turn off for some people, actually. It does seem that the versions of the character that sell the best bring an almost completely new version to the book. I'm not judging that, I'm really enjoying Brian's take (I'm a huge Azzarello fan), but there had been SO MANY reboots, I wanted to have a healing, building run. I'm really proud of most of those stories. I wish my run had been a little longer so we could show her superhero side more.
