In light of Tumblr threatening to take down DTWPS for not responding nicely enough to the harassment they receive, I thought I'd post some screencaps of just a little bit of the hate and harassment DTWPS and their followers regularly receive.

Hi, now I rarely call on my followers for anything. But I'd really like for you all to use this photoset, as well as the photos I'm going to provide below, and send an email to the Tumblr support staff about their obvious bias in enforcing their terms of service.

I'd rather not clog up alexandraerin's thread with what is admittedly an off-topic digression, so I'm starting a new post here.

Okay, so this post is coming a bit after I inadvertently started the discussion here, but I'll do my best to post it as I originally had it. My initial snarky reblog,…

First, absolutely no worries about 'snark.' It's your tumblr, you obviously stated your case articulately and intelligently, I have nothing but respect for that.

I agree with a lot more of this than you probably think. I can respond, if you like, but I don't want to derail your tumblr, and it would probably be lengthy.

One small thing is…that pitch is very, very old. It was not a permanent plan to change Cass forever, it was a desperate attempt to create a buzz-worthy story arc that would save the book from cancellation. The book was going to be cancelled. It was felt that support for the book was fading fast. This story would have had a significant story thrust and costume change, two things that would hopefully remind people what made Cass so great.

Once a book starts losing reader support, you have the choice of a signifhicant change, or no book at all. It's rough, it happens to my favorite books on a regular basis. By today's standards, her sales were still pretty good. But at this time, both Batgirl and Nightwing were going to be canceled without a hail Mary pass.

In general, I much prefer organic change, IF change is required at all. But if it is a case where the edict is change or cancel, you try to come up with something that the character hasn't done. It's a tough spot to be in, but I didn't want Cass to be without a book.

Also, this pitch was a first throw…it went absolutely nowhere and was actually created OVERNIGHT for editor Joan Hilty, if I remember correctly. No pitch goes through on its first throw, never. Odds are, the final story would have had very little to do with this pitch, IF Dc had liked it, which they really, really did not.

Believe me, if all the pitches that don't get made were out there, it would be absolutely terrifying…your first pitch is always a lot rougher and farther out there than what eventually is polished and published.

But like I say, I don't want to derail your whole Tumblr. I'd love to talk about this more, you raise some important points. And no worries about voicing your heartfelt opinions, I have nothing but respect for you for doing so,

Religion in Comics Question

An interesting question by daggerpen here on Tumblr…who is asking for examples for negative examples of non-Christian scenes of religion in mainstream comics, vs. positive portrayals of Christian religions in comics (if I understand correctly).

It got me wondering…can you think of POSITIVE scenes of non-Christian religions in comics? A character identifying as another faith isn't enough, they have to actually discuss their faith or practice their faith in some way, on panel, please.

I am HOPING there are many such scenes, but I have to admit, not very many are leaping to mind off-hand. Can people think of examples?

Thank you so much honey! *hugs* :3 I'm sure it will! the doctor has a fairly established history of working with trans people and a good friend of mine got his T through her and said it was super easy! and I've been living full time for a year and I saw a therapist for 6 months so I think I shouldn't have any sort of issues (except paying for everything, but that's a bridge we'll cross when we get to it!)

Really glad to hear that you've heard good things about the doctor you're going to be seeing :)

I do hate that. When I first got on the Internet, I didn't know how to cut and paste and would invariably lose every long post. Frustrating AND embarrassing!

I am a little unsure what you are looking for…is it negative portrayals of non-Christian religion in comics, and positive portrayals of Christian religion in same? Does Catholocism count for what you are looking for?

Nope. He's gone. Ollie is now a hip, young, edgy college-age kid. If Connor did exist he'd have to be a teeny tiny baby.

Ann Nocenti is a terrific writer…she might be able to figure a way to get Connor in with Ollie being the daddy? Hope!

"Five Lakotas on Pine Ridge Indian land in South Dakota were arrested Monday after attempting to block two tarsands pipeline trucks from entering their land. According to the Lakota activist the six-hour standoff started when the trucks refused to turn around claiming they had "corporate rights that supersede any other law."

According to the Rapid City Journal "several dozens" of American Indians were part of the blockade but a community journalist reports only five people were arrested."
