I just noticed on the DC website that Alitha Martinez is listed as one of the artists on Batgirl #7. Is that accurate?

That is accurate, she had to pop in to do a scene as Ardian is dealing with a personal thing. She's talented!

A Batgirl painting I reworked last night.

Stephanie Buscema reworked the Beat Girl Babs redesign that I posted a couple weeks ago, and somehow managed to make Babs even cuter! The lace-up boots in the original painting were switched out for a pair of yellow boots with bow detailing (hello, dream boots!), and the entire outfit is trimmed with an adorable scalloped hem.

On a side note, I really need that green Bat-argyle wallpaper in my bedroom.

I'm pretty sure this was the first episode I read of Secret Six and I love it! You have to love this little awkward moment between Liana and Scandal! :D

I just find it so cute that Liana had such an instant crush on Scandal :D

This is one of my absolute favourite issues of Secret Six and the relationship between Scandal and Liana was one of my favourite parts of the series

(added sidenote: can you believe I once had a girl feeling my arms and making a similar comment—minus the dancer part, obviously—, and it didn't even, well, hit me that she was actually hitting on me? How hopeless am I?)

Awwwww, don't be hard on yourself! I'm terrible at flirting and I can never tell when someone's trying to flirt with me either. And on the off chance I do realise I usually just get all shy and blushing

I guess I'm a bit funny when it comes to flirting. I'm good at it when it's clear there's nothing to it—when it's all done in jest, or as a running joke. So I flirt with my friends all the time, it has even become a bit of a trademark of mine. But when it's serious? I'm completely clueless, for some reason. And the more obvious the person in front me is, the more oblivious I become… to the point that it usually takes my friends' intervention for me to realise that there's something going on. Someone would come up to me saying, "so, are you gonna make a move on her/him already? cause I'm kinda running out of popcorn there, waiting", and I wouldn't even have the slightest idea of whom they are talking about. XD

Also, apparently, I am a straight women magnet. (This is all so very confusing.)

I'm totally the same when it comes to picking up on stuff like that. I'm really bad at telling whether someone likes me or likes me. When we were watching Doctor Who, during the bit where Amy FINALLY figures out that Rory has a thing for her, my girlfriend just burst into giggles and said 'That's totally you' and I honestly couldn't disagree.

Except I don't have a time travelling daughter from the future to help me get together with people, so I usually just remain clueless unless someone else makes the first move

If someone comes up and admires your muscle tone?  QUITE POSSIBLY FLIRTING. :)

HA! Yes, I know that now. ;) 

But back then, in my early twenties, when I was still young and naive… (yeah, right) …well, let's say I didn't have your fantastic run on Secret Six to clue me in. :D

Speaking of which, Gail—is there a particular reason why the Depths trade precisely is impossible to find? I recently went on a Secret Six trade-hunting rampage and had no trouble finding all the volumes either online or at my comic shop—all of them BUT Depths, which is obviously out of print… :(

What happened there? Did everyone decide they needed their own copy of that big supermaket surprise smooch Liana gave Scandal in the page before this one? (In which case I might forgive everyone for making it impossible to get my paws on it. This would be the only valid reason for its inavailability.)

Awwwww, I really hope that you're able to find a copy of it!

I shall keep my fingers crossed for you, because everyone deserves to be able to enjoy glorious, unbearably cute Scandal/Liana kisses and to read issue eight of Secret Six which I think is one of the best issues of the whole run

I don't have an explanation for it, no one really seems to know exactly what goes into a book staying in print. The Secret Six volumes never stop selling, which is very rare, they always continue to hold some interest. But I do know that the tpb schedule is cleared pretty much for a while for the new 52, which I think is understandable.

But it's unfortunate, because some back issues are scarce and whenever a S6 tpb goes out of print, the price shoots up to a ridiculous rate. I wish there was something I could do to help…all I can do is give a head's up when I see the issues on sale at Comixology and continue to ask DC about it.

However, IF you are at your retailer and it occurs to you, ask them if they can urge DC to reprint it, some stores have been banging that drum faithfully and it CAN make a difference!

Unarmed Black Teen Gunned Down By Neighborhood Watch Leader After Being Deemed Suspicious

Trayvon "Trey" Martin, 17, of Miami was visiting relatives living in a gated community in Sanford, Florida. He had just left a local 7-11 after buying a snack and was on his way home around 7:00 PM on February 26. George Zimmerman, a 26-year-old member of the local neighborhood watch, saw Martin and called police to report a suspicious man in the community. He tailed Martin in his car. He had a loaded pistol on him. The police told Zimmerman they would handle it.

For some reason, Zimmerman didn't obey. Minutes later, a number of local residents called police to report a fight. A gunshot was heard. Martin died 70 yards from the house he was staying in. Zimmerman was arrested and then released. He was carrying the pistol legally and has claimed that he was acting in self-defense.

Said Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee Jr. in an interview with the Huffington Post, "For some reason he (Zimmerman) felt that Trayvon, the way that he was walking or appeared seemed suspicious to him."

Ah, yes. The way he was walking and his appearance were deemed "suspicious." Oh, did I forget to mention that Martin is black? And that the gated community, called Retreat at Twin Lakes, is predominantly white?

Martin's parents are demanding the police make an arrest and release the 911 call. They are expected to file a suit in state court on Friday.

"Zimmerman, an adult, had a gun. Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old, had Skittles. No way you can say self-defense," said the family's attorney, Benjamin Crump.

what the fuck do you mean they're calling for his arrest. the fact that Zimmerman isn't right now in custody is all the proof anyone needs of what is still happening in this country.

#i'm sure if a white kid had been killed #by a black dude or ANYONE for that matter #he'd be able to just walk the fuck around while they investigate #zimmerman CONFESSED by the way #too bad no one gives a fuck about dead black children 

What irks me the most about this situation is that Zimmerman is trying to claim self defense. How in the hell are you going to plead self defense against a 17-year-old boy when he had nothing but Skittles in one pocket and a damn iced tea in the other?

Is it possibly THAT hard to just be a decent human being and admit that the basis of your "suspicion" came from the fact that he was black? 

Some reports are stating that when police arrived on the scene Zimmerman's back was wet, his nose was bloodied, and he was yelling about how he cried for help and no one came.  So "'There is some physical evidence and some testimony that would corroborate [his claim of self defense]." Which is fucking ridiculous.  

He was a twenty six year old man in a car following a seventeen year old kid at night.  He has all the power in this situation. He is older, he is more familiar with the area, he is armed, and he is inside a goddamn car.  The only way an altercation occurs is if he gets out of his car.  If it's night and I'm walking alone and a car begins to follow me, I am going to be terrified of that car and it's driver.  I can completely understand a young kid reacting aggressively in that situation because that's a terrifying situation to find yourself in.  The only person who should be held responsible for any alteracation that occured is the grown ass man who thought it appropriate to follow a young kid around in the dark after the police dispatch explicitly told him not to do so and then GOT OUT OF HIS CAR.  

Zimmerman is clearly and undeniably the aggressor here and the fact that he has not been arrested is disgusting.

See, this is why BLACK CANARY RULES ALL.

The funnest thing about writing this episode was having the GUYS be the wet blankets trying to be the voice of reason, in the face of the completely unstoppable Black Canary and Huntress. It's always, ALWAYS the other way around, the guys do all the fun, exciting business while the women roll their eyes and try to keep a leash on.

The original scene right before this, with Mandragora, was even a little meaner and naughtier…he kept saying insults at Black Canary, who ignored him. UNTIL he pointed out that Green Arrow was a multi-millionaire, and Mandragora wondered if Black Canary would even look at him twice if he was a poor man, instead of a rich one.

THAT'S when she punched him in the snoot.
