Small Choices

It's amazing how small choices can radically change one's life: a wrong turn in an office complex that leads to love and marriage; my annoying little habit of dumping my dirty laundry on the floor wherever I strip, which led to at least one divorce; the random selection of a divorce lawyer from the yellow [...]

Irresponsibilitis

I have terrible news. I've been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease known as "Irresponsibilitis". It apparently begins in early childhood, takes root during puberty, then slowly progresses from there. I'm not alone. According to most women's magazines, almost every man has the Irresponsibilitis gene. It's just a question of whether it develops into the full-blown [...]

Women and Quantum Physics

For those of you who read this blog regularly, it may surprise you to learn that I read a lot of books about quantum physics. Actually, it surprises my friends that I can read at all. Thankfully, I've stumbled on a few quantum physics picture books that allow me to write this post with some [...]

Beer Garden Epiphany

I paid a short visit to the beer garden last night. Okay, I was there all night. Had a great time, too, sitting in the warm breeze, palm trees swaying overhead, listening to fantastic live music and washing it all down with a few golden suds. Okay, a lot of golden suds, but let's not [...]

Home Is…Where Your Woman Is?

To all my readers north of the 40th parallel, I feel guilty writing this. I just strolled onto my balcony into the morning sunshine here in Bangkok, and couldn't help notice it was already above 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Back in Canada, I'd be wearing three layers of fleece and burning furniture just to survive. Here, [...]

RJ III – The Thrilla in…Bangkok? (Part 3)

I awoke in a hospital bed in traction. No, wait, wrong location. I was in the master bedroom of my Bangkok apartment. The traction part was right, however. Mick suddenly appeared beside me. I tried to turn my head to look at him but couldn't make it all the way. "What happened?" I asked, my [...]

RJ III: The Thrilla in…Bangkok? (Part 2)

I awoke the next morning at 3:34 a.m. I was going to roll over and go back to sleep, but in my experience, if you don't take at least one step toward a goal before quitting, people say bad things about you. Just ask all those exes I never asked to marry! So I dragged [...]

RJ III: The Thrilla in…Bangkok? (Part 1)

It's Sunday, November 27th.  I return to Thailand in eight days to visit my girlfriend, Jan. She said something playful on the phone the other morning: "I really missing you. I hope you in good shape when you come here." Then she giggled. If I was out of shape aesthetically, I might have taken offense [...]

The Need For A Sex Scoreboard

In response to a recent post, one of my readers sent me a link to a discussion between women on their periodic need to fake orgasm. The portion of my post that interested them was this one: When it comes to sex, many of us men think we get a raw deal. Not only do [...]

When A Scratch Is Just A Scratch

As anyone who reads these posts knows, I often get a kick out of female attempts to interpret male behavior. The problem, as I see it, is that women have brains designed for chess, whereas we men are more like tic-tac-toe. Here are some sample female opinions I pulled off the web on why men [...]
