Author, author...
...read all about it!!!

Tinnekke could you please tell us a little about yourself...
Gee, where to start? I’m a Hoosier by birth; I’ve lived all over the country but returned to my home state to be near family about 20 years ago. I’ve lived in the greater Chicago area for the last seven years. I’ve been married nearly 17 years and have a wonderful son who is getting ready to start middle school next year. We are collectively owned by three cats, all of whom we adopted from pet rescues. No-kill shelters and rescue of animals is a passionate cause of mine. I feel there is a special place in the after-life of pain and misery for those who harm or abandon their pets. I’m also an avid gardener, since my day job is pediatric nursing, it relaxes and grounds me as well as being a source of beauty and nourishment.
What or who initially inspired you to become a writer? That’s hard to say. I can remember creating my own stories as early as third grade. I got into Dungeons and Dragons and created whole worlds with maps and backstories when I was still in elementary school. It’s just something that has always been part of me. Doing it professionally actually didn’t enter my mind until 2007, when I started publishing essays on various philosophical subjects on some email lists to which I belonged. I received a great deal of encouragement from the women with whom I shared my writings. My first book, The Dance of the Mystai, was born from these essays back in 2009.
What kind of research do you do for a novel and how extensive do you get?
I haven’t completed a novel as of yet. I have been doing short stories so far, though ‘Blossoms for the May Queen’, which is in the Ishtar Press anthology Taboo, approaches novella length. That one I could easily have kept on going with and made it into a novel. I read extensively about the locations in which I set my stories, and make sure to add authentic local color. The characters go places that my readers could actually go and see things that are really there. So far, all my stories have been set in the present day, but I am working on a piece set during Bronze Age Greece. That one is taking more time since I am researching not just the area and its customs, but as much as I can about the language, the stories, and the history of Greece as well. I am also familiarizing myself with the geography of the period and the architecture.
Do you have a special place you like to do your writing? Such as an office, a spare room, the dining room table, your couch?
I write everywhere. I keep notebooks with me just about anywhere I go, so I can jot down ideas or write what’s bouncing around in my head. When it comes time to put it all together, I retreat to the den, where my computer is. It is quiet and private, something I need when I’m in my zone.
As a reader, what types of works do you like to read and do you think they influence the genre/genres you write in?
I read almost anything. However, I am partial to science-fiction/fantasy. I also am a fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Jane Austen. I also adore artistically written erotica and epic poetry. Everything influences my writing to some extent. The inspiration for the novel I am writing came from a book about the historical world of the Trojan War, written as a scholarly piece.
What is your favorite method of writing...as in laptop, desktop, Ipad or the old fashioned pencil and paper?? And do you plot out your story or go with the flow of your muse?
I usually start out writing with pen and paper, since I can carry that anywhere. If I am writing for an anthology that has a set theme, I will plan that into my rough idea, but I tend to go where the characters and my own Muse take me.
When you need a break or some time off from the trials of being a writer, what can you be found doing?
My usual non-writing activities are puttering in my garden, being a cat bed, playing with my son, going out with my husband, and swimming in our deliciously wonderful pool. If I am having a bad case of writer’s block or just need a break from sitting at my desk all day, I can usually be found in my back yard, weather permitting. I can also be found in my kitchen making bread. I also love playing various computer games as a form of relaxation.
Is there anything about yourself nobody knows that you would like to share with our readers??
Nah. I’m a very reserved person by nature. If most people don’t know something about me, it’s because I prefer it that way.
For fun, I have a few personal questions,
Your Favorite 5 1) Favorite color - purple 2) Favorite dessert – tossup between strawberry shortcake and brownies
3) Favorite Season - spring
4) Favorite sad song- Moonlight and Vodka by Chris deBurgh
5) Favorite Romantic movie – Benny and Joon
And a bonus, what is your ideal romantic vacation?? A sailboat, a broad swath of blue water, and my husband – with loads of time to be alone.
Where can our readers find you??

Yes, actually. The Ishtar Press anthology Taboo is coming out very soon! It is available for pre-order through http://paganwriterspress.com/catalog/ right now.
“These are stories of lust. Not a timid, discrete lust, but one that reaches to the heavens and feeds the divine within us.
A sacrifice to Pan, a Beltaine celebration in a poly family, a BDSM scene where Tarot leads the way, an exotic dancer offering her performance to Ishtar, and a sensual exploration by the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, this first Taboo anthology is a testament to naughty and kinky imaginations.
Step in, leave your preconceptions at the door, and enjoy the ride!” – blurb for Taboo
As far as I know, it will be available on Amazon and other sites once it has been released. You can learn more about Ishtar Press on their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ishtar-Press/181993641891247
“Marianne rose and smiled, stretching like a cat and letting her auburn hair brush her back silkily. “Let me make you some of what we’re having, or you can have my plate and I’ll cook some more for me.” Offering Angela her place at the table, she went to the stove and relit the burner. Another breakfast was easily made, the coffee warmed with fresh, and then the foursome lingered over warm drink and conversation, which inevitably turned to the subject of Beltane.
“I still cannot believe we’re going to participate in two Beltanes in one weekend,” Rhys smiled, “I feel like a kid knowing he has a free pass to the candy store.”
Marianne tickled his ribs lightly, “Well, we could always skip the community one, if two is too many for you.” She winked at him impishly.
“Oh goodness, no, we can’t skip any of them!” was the quick rejoinder from Rhys. He patted Angela on the shoulder playfully and murmured, “After all, can’t have Angela miss out on anything, since this is her first chance to celebrate Beltane. We simply must show her a good time.”
Angela quickly blushed crimson, which caused raucous amusement as Jim noted the way being embarrassed crinkled her nipples. Marianne decided this was a good opportunity to beat a retreat to the shower and left the men commenting on the ways they could show Angela a good time.” – Blossoms for the May Queen excerpt from Taboo
You can find other anthologies to which I have contributed on my Amazon.com page. http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B007YUO6GS
If you want to check out The Dance of the Mystai, I self-published the first edition myself, and it can be found here: http://www.cafepress.com/mystaiofthemoon.375978026
I will be starting work on the second edition this summer, and hope to have it out next year.
One last thing before we let you go, do you have a favorite recipe you'd like to share? I like to cook and am always looking for new recipes to try and share but it's totally up to you.
I have tons of recipes. One thing I have been doing for myself is creating a cookbook of my recipes. Here’s one of our favorites.
Classic Cheese Fondue
This is a tasty dish that can make any day special. It does take some patience and a careful hand, so don’t make it when you’re stressed out or just plain tired. It doesn’t take long, other than shredding the cheese, but that can be done ahead of time with the cheeses stored, already mixed with corn starch, in a zipper bag in the fridge, so it’s ready when you are. This dish is best made when you have someone in the kitchen that is able and willing to help, since it really does require constant, careful stirring at some points. It’s a fun family project that really is a meal unto itself.
1 cup Chenin Blanc or other dry white wine
Juice of ½ lemon
½ tsp garlic powder
½ pound Emmenthaler cheese, shredded
½ pound Gruyere cheese, shredded
2 tbsp corn starch
Fresh ground pepper
Generous splash of mead
½ tsp dry mustard
Freshly grated nutmeg
After shredding the cheese (if you can find those pre-shredded let me know!), put it in a gallon zipper bag, add cornstarch and then shake to coat the cheese and put to one side.
Over medium heat in a heavy medium sauce pan, add the lemon juice and wine and garlic powder and let it come to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low, and add the cheeses in small handfuls, stirring constantly in a zigzag to make sure your spoon gets the center as well as the edges of the pot. Be very patient and stir in each handful and let it begin to melt before you add the next one.
While you are doing this, have someone else start pre-warming the fondue pot. Once all the cheese has been incorporated, have someone else grind in some fresh pepper while you keep stirring. Cook just until the cheese is at that creamy smooth stage but not stringy. Remove from heat and add the mead and stir until incorporated, then add the mustard powder and nutmeg and stir gently. Transfer into the warmed fondue pot carefully and place over heat source. Serve with such munchies as chunks of apple, cubes of fresh baguette, breadsticks, whole fresh mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and other fresh veggies and firm fruits – even ham chunks can be a hearty and tasty dipper for this fondue.
Tinnekke, thank you so much for being with us today. It was great to learn all about you and that recipe sounds delicous. Would love to see that cookbook you are putting together :)
Readers, make sure you keep an eye out for the release of Taboo, you won't want to miss it!!
Happy reading,
Krista

Excerpt
"Have you decided if you're going to stay in Steeple for a bit?" Jenson asked. "We don't want you to leave." "I don't know." Lila sipped her soda. Her stomach had been unsettled since coming back. She wanted to believe it was the funeral, but she knew better. "You shouldn't be alone," Cali said. "We can help you clean out the house." When Lila moved her father in with her, she'd hoped he'd one day be able to return to Steeple, so they'd left most of his belongings in the family home. "What are you going to do with the house?" Jenson asked. "I haven't made any plans yet." Lila sighed. "I grew up in that house. All of my memories of my parents are in there." Lila's mom had passed away when Lila was ten, but she remembered everything about her. "That's why you should stay and take your time." Cali placed a bottle of water in front of Jenson. "We'll be here for you." Lila nodded. It wasn't as if she had anything to go back to the city for. She'd been laid off from her teaching job, because she hadn't earned tenure, and the new teachers were always the first to go. She'd kicked around the idea of going back to school to get her doctorate. Her father had left her more than enough money to live comfortably for quite some time. "I don't know." Lila played with the straw in her drink. "There are so many memories here." "Screw the sheriff." Cali was always so protective of Lila, especially when it came to Trevor. "Don't let Trevor run you out of this town again." "He didn't run me out the first time," Lila said. "I wanted to go." There was no way she could stay and watch him marry another and raise a child. "Bullshit." Cali wiped down the bar. "You switched schools and never looked back. You never came back to us." "What was I supposed to do?" Lila asked. "Stay and watch him marry her? Congratulate them when the baby came?" "You could have fought harder for him, if you really wanted to. Not that I think the pig was ever worth you." Cali had never forgiven Trevor for getting Mary Grace pregnant. "Cali," Jenson said, "none of that matters anymore. Lila is over it." "Sure she is." Cali knew Lila well. As much as Lila tried to forget Trevor, she'd never gotten over the love she'd lost. First love really did die hard. "Okay, guys," Lila said. "It's been a long week and I have a headache." She couldn't deal with any more today. "I'm sorry." Cali grabbed her hand. "You know I love you. I don't want you to run back to Boston because you're afraid to face him. I miss you, and I want you to stay. This is your home." "Me too," Jenson said. "Stay with us." "I'll think about it, but right now I want to head home and take a hot bath." Lila picked her bag off the bar and slipped off the stool. "Thanks for being there for me this week. I couldn't have planned everything and made it through the funeral without either of you." "We'll always be here for you." Jenson hugged her. "I'll call you later and see if you want me to bring you dinner." "Thanks, but I'm going to crawl into bed and sleep all night. I'm beat. I'll stop by the book store tomorrow." Lila leaned across the bar and kissed Cali's cheek. "I'll be fine." "I know what you're capable of." Cali smiled. "You'll bounce back. You always do." "Talk to you tomorrow." As Lila walked toward the door, she dug into her bag for her car keys. She wasn't watching where she was going as she stepped into the entryway of the restaurant. She slammed into a hard, muscular body, dropping the keys to the floor. "I'm so sorry." She kneeled down to pick them up, feeling like an idiot for bumping into someone. When she stood up, she was met by a warm smile and those beautiful green eyes. He could still take her breath away. "Hey, Lila."

Author, author...
read all about it...
Today we have a great author with us. Please help me welcome:
Lorraine Nelson
Hi Lorraine, so great to have you here with us. Can you tell our readers a little about yourself?
I am a mother of three grown sons and now have six grandchildren. Love them all dearly. I love to write, read, garden, and bake goodies for the family.
What or who initially inspired you to become a writer?
I've always written in some form or another, short stories, poems, children's stories. Even had a few published. J But it wasn't until I developed a bone infection and had my thumb amputated that I began to write for adults. Needing to get the flexibility back in that hand, I began typing random things, which soon bored me. One day, in February, 2009, I got an idea for a romance and began typing. I've been writing ever since.
What kind of research do you do for a novel and how extensive do you get?
I research as I need to. It can be pretty basic stuff, like pulling up a map to determine location, or can be pretty detailed. It all depends on the story.
Do you have a special place you like to do your writing? Such as an office, a spare room, the dining room table, your couch?
I have a home office of sorts. When I'm home, that's where I do all my writing. Otherwise, it's pen and paper.
As a reader, what types of works do you like to read and do you think they influence the genre/genres you write in?
I read just about anything, but my favorites have always been romance and suspense. To combine the two and create believable stories is my dream job. So yes, I suppose my love of reading has influenced my writing.
What is your favorite method of writing...as in laptop, desktop, Ipad or the old fashioned pencil and paper?? And do you plot out your story or go with the flow of your muse?
I have a desktop computer and prefer to write sitting in comfort at my desk. I'm a pantser. I do a brief GMC sheet to outline characters, conflicts, and plot, then run with it.
When you need a break or some time off from the trials of being a writer, what can you be found doing?
Reading, visiting with friends and family, gardening, cooking and/or baking.
Is there anything about yourself nobody knows that you would like to share with our readers??
Not especially. J Other than needing peace and quiet to write, I'm just me.
For fun, I have a few personal questions,
Your Favorite 5
1) Favorite color – purple, all shades2) Favorite dessert – coconut cream pie3) Favorite Season – Autumn, I love the changing panorama of colors. 4) Favorite sad song – I love country music, so there are quite a few.5) Favorite Romantic movie – Dirty Dancing
And a bonus, what is your ideal romantic vacation??
On a beach anywhere warm and sunny.
Where can our readers find you??

Blurb: A stalker who wants revenge…a past flame rekindled…Jemma Leigh's summer just got interesting. *** Jemma Leigh Harding has drawn the attention of an unknown stalker and returns to her hometown of Somerville, a safe haven—or so she thinks—on the east coast of Canada. Theodore Garrity is the last person she expects to see, considering how easily he walked away from her after graduation to join the army. Their past history involves secrets Jemma Leigh is hesitant to share. When it becomes clear the stalker has followed her home, Teddy becomes her unlikely bodyguard. Will the terror and past hurts separate them forever? Or will love blaze a fresh path for their future?
Excerpt: Jemma Leigh returned to her research and left the men in the kitchen. A short while later, she heard careful footfalls as Ted made his way up the stairs to join her. "You finished with guard duty for now?" "Could be that I came up here to do some hands-on bodyguard work." "Oooh, I'm liking the sound of that, Teddy Bear." She loved it when they bantered back and forth like this, sexual innuendos abounding. "And I'm becoming addicted to your charms, Jemma Love." "Addicted speaks of something you crave over and over again. I'm loving the sound of that. Well, let's see about putting a little of my charm to work, shall we?" she suggested as she rose and went to meet him where he stood just inside the door. "This is madness," he said between hot, smothering, impassioned kisses. "We should have our ever-lovin' heads examined." "Later. We have more pressing issues right now," she declared as she pressed herself against him, the ridge of his erection pushing into the soft, tender skin of her belly. Standing back out of the way, she could see his shaft straining the seams of his jeans as it grew hard and ready for her. "Too many clothes," he announced as he danced her inside then closed and locked the door. As the lock snicked into place, Jemma Leigh started to undo her blouse, but his hands stilled hers as he requested, "Let me." Every button released meant the slightest touch of his fingers as they brushed against her skin. Oh, sweet torment! His hands glided sensuously over her upper body as he guided the blouse over her shoulders and down her arms, letting it tangle at the cuffs, effectively trapping her hands behind her as his gaze continued a slow, carnal investigation of its own. Bypassing her bra, he swept his hands over her curves to rest at the juncture of her thighs. He grabbed her mound through her jeans and rubbed, gently at first, then harder, and harder still, until she was twisting and moaning, grinding her pelvis against the pressure of his hand, seeking some relief from the erotic torture he'd created. Suddenly, he withdrew his hand, causing her to whimper in protest at being denied such pleasant sensations. Then she felt his hands at her waist, undoing the fastenings of her jeans, sliding inside to caress her hips as he worked the fabric down over her curves, baring all except the brief patch of curls hiding her pussy from view. Running a finger along the inside edge of her thong while the other hand teased the valley between her butt cheeks, he had her body humming at a fevered pitch. Then her eyes shot open as he left her standing there, semi-nude and bereft of his touch, but he'd only put enough space between them to rid himself of his clothes, watching her all the while with an intensity that caused his eyes to resemble rich, malted chocolate. He stood proud and erect in all his manly glory, and she couldn't take her eyes off him as he strode to the bed, pulling back the covers before returning for her. He swept away the rest of her clothing as he kissed her senseless. Then he picked her up and cradled her in his arms to carry her across the room, laying her down gently before lowering his body to rest beside her. "You know, this is only the second time we've made love in a bed," he stated as he lay on his side facing her, his head propped on one hand while the other rested leisurely at her waist. "Yes, I'm well aware of that, so let's get on with it," she teased. Taking his hand and moving it to her breast, she thrilled to his touch as he rubbed and massaged first one, then the other. She delighted in his sudden gasp as she took him firmly in hand to stroke the solid length of him.
Seriously, I cannot wait to read this. Thanks so much for sharing that excerpt. Now one last thing before we let you go. Is there a favorite recipe you'd like to share with us? I love to cook and I'm always looking for new recipes to try and share with our readers.
Here's one of my family's favorite snacking treats:
Whoopie Pies
1 cup white sugar1 cup shortening2 egg yolks1 teaspoon vanilla1 cup milk soured with 1 Tablespoon vinegar2 cups flour1 teaspoon baking powder1 teaspoon baking soda3/4 teaspoon salt4 Tablespoons cocoa
Mix and drop by tablespoonful onto greased pan. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 12 minutes.
Filling:
1/2 cup shortening 2 cups icing sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
pinch of salt
Mix together, then fold in 2 egg whites, beaten stiff.
When cool, spread filling on one cookie and sandwich together. Enjoy!
That sounds yummy and I'm more than sure my kids will LOVE it!

Readers, make sure you don't miss out on this one. I know i'll be adding it to my kindle!!!

Finally Friday
Hey everybody, welcome to Finally Friday where I am sharing another super book from the Turquoise Morning Press backlog list.
Today we have:
Double Dog Dare
by
Jennifer Johnson
We’re all mad here. ~The Cheshire Cat
When Cheris McDowell wakes up in a hotel room next to the husband she doesn’t remember meeting, she decides the only practical solution is a quiet divorce. Too bad the rest of the world disagrees. As an Internet advice guru, Cheris ought to know how to fix the mess she woke up to, but when her own web master conspires to keep the marriage going, Cheris is at a loss. Geoff Arrowood III, her new husband, isn’t helping the situation. He’s way too charming and looks a little too good in a Tuxedo. Will Cheris choose a little storybook madness or the sensible advice of the wisdom she’s followed all her life?
"Warning: Chock full of children's literature references and dialogue laced with movie quotes-- Enter at your own risk!"
Release: July 7, 2011Category: Romance, Contemporary Romance, Romantic ComedyHeat Level: Sweet
Length: 262 pages
Price: $2.99 digital, $12.99 paperback
Author Bio: I grew up as a flower child named Francesca in Uruguay, making my first “B” movie at fourteen. I was a sensation locally, but, tragically, the world did not appreciate my talents. My lover, Bruno, intent on killing me because of my infidelity, forced me to flee to the United States, the land of new beginnings and redemption. I have a recurring dream, however, that I am a North American woman from Alabama, USA. I go to Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia and later to graduate school in Georgia. My dream continues that I marry a man who teaches math and that we have two children who share with us in our happy existence in the United States, far away from Uruguay and my checkered past. In my dream, my name is Jennifer Johnson. It is a common, yet lovely name, which allows me to be free from the clutches of Bruno. Oh, wait. Maybe my dream is my life. Yes, it is! I do, however, love to create other worlds to dream in and fall in love with. I wrote my first love story in seventh grade. It was about two teenagers who meet at beach camp. They get stranded on a top bunk of a bed by a wolf. I kept this epic novel in a bright pink notebook and carried it with me everywhere. It disappeared one day and; alas, the young lovers’ story was never resolved. If I had finished it, it would have been a happy ending because I’m a big believer in happy endings! And I’m still hoping that pink notebook will show up somewhere. P.S. I can’t take credit for Francesca—she’s from an old Kids in the Hall comedy sketch. This is a sweet, wonderful, romantic read that had me captivated throughout....Ms. Johnson is adept at creating likable characters and plots laced with humor. Get a copy of Double Dog Dare and plan to be thoroughly entertained.
Double Dog Dare by Jennifer Johnson is superb. It's funny, charming, with twists I didn't expect. It's a sweet romance with just enough heat to keep you turning the pages, but leaves out any details you didn't ask for.
Double Dog Dare is a sweet and funny contemporary story. I enjoyed it very much and had many opportunities to smile and laugh. If you love a heartwarming story about falling in love, Then I dare you -- double dog dare you even, to get yourself a copy of this great book. (from the Long and Short of It Romance Reviews)
Double Dog Dare is a charming read filled with memorable characters, lots of laughs, and tons of fun.(from Romancing the Book Reviews)
I've come to expect warmth and humor from Ms. Johnson. She always delivers. I've come to look forward to "meeting" her characters. She creates people who seem real and relateable. I always find myself rooting for them. Double Dog Dare is yet another example of this. With her typical Southern charm, she makes a truly surreal, "through the rabbit hole" situation believable.
Don't miss out on this great read by Jennifer Johnson.
Double Dog Dare is available now on Amazon.
Thanks everyone for stopping by and until next time....

Author, Author...
... read all about it!It is a great pleasure to welcome a very talented author that i have come to know....

Welcome Mackenzie, can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a wife, mother, and grandmother. My husband and I were blessed with two rambunctious little boys who we managed to raise into wonderful men without any disfiguring mishaps. Dirt bikes and ESPN are the order around our house, and life at the ‘Testosterone Ranch’ more closely resembles one of today’s wacky reality shows, than yesterday’s Leave It To Beaver.
I’m one of eight kids, raised just north of Boston. My childhood was a wild ride with hordes of family and friends, and I’m happy to report that continues to be true today. I moved to Phoenix as an adult because living in the southwest feeds my soul.
My love of the romance genre has been a lifelong affair, both as a reader and a writer. A bout with breast cancer sharpened my resolve to see my stories shared with others. As of today, I am a four-year survivor, living my dream.
What did you want to be when you were growing up or did you always want to be a writer?
Oh, you know. The usual things. A veterinarian, a writer, a princess, a writer, a singer…a writer…
When did you first start writing?
I penned my first story when I was ten, but don’t ask me where it is. I’m organizationally challenged. I don’t know where my cell phone is most of the time.
What is a typical writing day like for you?
I’m up at 5 with the first of several cups of coffee. I greet the morning with my laptop and write until the maniacs I call family interfere.
Do you have any specific routine you follow or specific items you need with you when you write?
Nope. Because my home is always a beehive of activity, I’ve learned to write anywhere. It’s not uncommon for my guys to be sitting along side me, screaming at the game on TV, while I type away in peace.
What is your favorite part of writing? Is there anything you don’t like about being a writer?
I’m a pantser. (That challenge with organization thing, remember?) I love the way the characters and story unfold in my mind. It gives me such a thrill when an issue I’ve been battling with rights itself, revealing the perfect solution in all its glory. As for dislikes, it drives me nuts when my muse decides to go have a few beers with the boys. Yep, my muse is a guy. Not sure how that happened, but it works for me.
What is your favorite length of book to write? (Short story, novella, full length novel) Why?
Definitely not short. I haven’t bothered to try short yet and may at some point, but I’m more comfortable somewhere in the middle. I’m amazed at those who can craft a meaty story in so few words. I’m not sure I could pull it off.
How does your family feel about your writing and you being an author?
They’ve always been supportive in a ‘Uh huh. Mac likes to write’ sort of way, but now that I’m published, I think they are more excited than I am. I’ve got tons of friends and family passing out bookmarks and pimping me on Facebook. One of my aunt’s owns a promotional company dealing with businesses for their trade shows. She’s based in Long Island City, New York, the inspiration for the location of my latest release, That Dating Thing. She’s decided I need promo in the local businesses there as a kind of local interest story, so she’s putting something together to share with the local chamber of commerce. I’m overwhelmed by the support of my loved ones.
Is there a to-be-read waiting on your bedside table?
I’m currently reading Nothing But Trouble by Jannine Gallant. It’s from a series called Honky Tonk Hearts from The Wild Rose Press. This is the second title I’ve read in the series and the third is waiting patiently on my kindle. If you’re looking for a fun contemporary western romance, I highly recommend the series.
For fun, I have a few personal questions,
Favorite 5 1) Favorite Holiday Halloween, because what girl doesn’t like to dress up?
2) Favorite Drink Cosmo
3) Favorite Author Too many to choose just one. Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Linda Howard, Johanna Lindsey, Nora…
4) Favorite Book My all time fave is ‘It Had to be You’ by SEP
5) Favorite Animal Cats rule!
And for a bonus: What is a typical mood for you? And is your mood different when you’re writing? I’m typically a ‘The glass is three quarters full’ kind of girl, and that carries through to my writing time for the most part.

Blurb: The daughter of Wall Street’s most notorious stock swindler, dog trainer, Rylee Pierce, has perfected the art of flying beneath society’s radar. Prosecutor, Cooper Reed is a threat to her carefully hidden truths, but how is a woman supposed to resist a man capable of handling a psychotic Great Dane, while charming her out of her panties before she has the chance to blink?
Excerpt: “So, this is The Canine Academy?” He eyed the cages. “Where are your other students?”
A soft release of pent up breath reached his ears and he smiled. Yes, off balance was just how he wanted her.
“Gone for the day.”
“Why is Pippin still here?”
“Pippin required a more intense program. He’s our only boarder at the moment.”
“Have dinner with me,” he said, without turning around. She didn’t answer and he waited several beats before glancing over his shoulder. Her eyes shuttered, she fell back on sarcasm.
“We just finished dinner. What do you have, a tapeworm?”
He faced her. “I’d like to take you to dinner, Rylee.”
Her hand went to Belle’s head beside her and she jutted her chin up a notch. “That wouldn’t be a good idea, Coop.”
“Why? I’m attracted to you, and a man can tell when the attraction is mutual.”
She said nothing, returning his gaze while she scratched the fur between Belle’s ears.
“It’s just a meal.” He crossed his arms. “I’m not suggesting we jet off to Vegas.”
She snorted softly. “That’s a relief. Casinos give me a headache.”
The dry sarcasm made him smile. She hadn’t said no.
“Look, you’re a great-looking guy.”
He flashed a grin, pleased when her lips twitched in response.
“And I admit you have a certain amount of charm.”
“But?”
“But, your father is married to my aunt.”
“Your mother’s cousin,” he corrected. He dropped his arms to his sides and stepped toward her. “And Dad and Silvia can get their own dinner.”
Her lips formed a genuine smile, but she shook her head. “People rarely come out of this kind of thing on friendly terms.”
“This kind of thing?” He continued to advance.
“We’re connected through Sil and Elliott. I don’t want to see them caught in the middle when this…dating thing, or whatever it is you’re after, ends.”
“This dating thing?”
“Or whatever it is you’re after,” she repeated. As he closed the distance, she stepped back and bumped up against the shark cage. She slapped her spread fingers against his chest to prevent him from coming any closer. “I’m not in the market for a relationship right now.”
“Then we don’t have a problem, because neither am I.” He brushed a fingertip over the perfect skin of her cheekbone. “So, here’s what I suggest.”
Her eyelids fluttered, pupils dilating, and reluctant temptation replaced the wariness in her dark orbs. Still, she kept a defensive hand on his chest.
“If you insist on negotiating when I’ve already explained my concerns,” she said, holding his gaze, “I’d rather you didn’t touch me.”
He checked the urge to kiss her at the artless admission of finding his touch disturbing. Instead, he moved his hand to the cage beside her head. He wrapped his fingers around the metal bar and dipped his head, bringing his face closer to hers. She blinked but held her ground, boldly meeting his gaze.
“I propose we get to know one another,” he pressed. “A few dinners. Maybe a show, or a ball game or two if you like. We find out what makes each other tick.”
“Hmmm.” Her mouth moved into a smirk. “Five seconds ago you were talking a meal. Now it’s a few dinners and a ball game or two. At this rate we’ll be jetting off to Vegas by the end of the week.”
She didn’t try to stop him when he took the final step that brought their bodies within inches of each other. “Has anyone ever accused you of being a wiseass?”
Head cocked as though considering the question, her mouth quivered on a smile. “Nope.”
“How about a liar?”
She lost the battle with the smile and her low laugh sent a lash of desire whipping across his midsection. He did what he’d wanted to do since arriving at his father’s condo days ago. Leaning in, he took...

And, last but not least, do you have a favorite recipe you'd like to share? I like to cook and am always looking for new recipes to try and share with my readers but it's totally up to you.
Hmmm. This is a tough one. I’m not much of a cook, in fact, my friends often tease that I have to dust my oven before I throw in that frozen pizza, but I’ll give it a shot. Here’s an easy one…
You’ll need two slices of bread (your choice of white or wheat)
Butter and or Jam of your choice.
And a toaster…
Oh, never mind. Using any of my recipes will probably end up sending you to the emergency room with food poisoning anyway. ;-)
Mac, you are too funny and I'm so glad you were here to visit us today. My kids loved your recipe!!! I hope you'll come visit us again, bring another recipe and another best seller :)
Readers, you definitely don't want to miss That Dating Thing by Mackenzie Crowne!!

...read all about it!
Today please help me welcome a new author to A Passion for Romance. Charisma Knight Hi Charisma and welcome!!
What or who initially inspired you to become a writer? The drive to write has always thrived within me, however, the urge to pursue my dream wouldn’t go away. I’d probably say it was my aunt who used to give me all her romance books back in the day.
What kind of research do you do for a novel and how extensive do you get?Although I’ve never written any novels, (most of my stories are novellas) I utilize the internet and check out the library on certain subject matters. It also helps to pick a person’s brain when in doubt. Someone who has actually been through a certain situation in their life.
Do you have a special place you like to do your writing? Such as an office, a spare room, the dining room table, your couch? No special place, I write any and everywhere.
As a reader, what types of works do you like to read and do you think they influence the genre/genres you write in?I’m totally loving my paranormal erotica and erotic romance stories. I’ve been reading those long before I became an author. During my teen years I used to read the closed -door romance novels my auntie handed down to me, so this plays a huge part in everything.
What is your favorite method of writing...as in laptop, desktop, Ipad or the old fashioned pencil and paper?? And do you plot out your story or go with the flow of your muse?I usually just whip out the ole laptop. The only way I use pen and pencil is if I wake up in the middle of the night and have some things to jot down or when I’m in the kitchen cooking. Usually I will go with the flow of my muse when they whisper in my ear. Sometimes I’ll start a story in the middle or the end. Yes, that may be strange to you, but writing is much like constructing a house sometimes. The main part of that story must be laid and then you build around it.
When you need a break or some time off from the trials of being a writer, what can you be found doing?A much needed break includes taking time off from writing for a day or two. Kids are out of school so I haven’t really been writing hardcore, but I’m adapting now. I enjoy taking them to the park, a movie, the pool and enjoying life instead of being cooped up in the house all day long.
Is there anything about yourself nobody knows that you would like to share with our readers?? Hmmm. I better keep that a secret. ; )
For fun, I have a few personal questions, Your Favorite 5 1) Favorite color - Black2) Favorite dessert – Sundae with cookies n cream ice cream and tons of peanut butter sauce!3) Favorite Season - Spring4) Favorite sad song- Love Don’t Live Here Anymore 5) Favorite Romantic movie - Titanic And a bonus, what is your ideal romantic vacation?? My ideal romantic vacation is spending a week alone with my alpha male, away from technology and any other interruptions (kids are with relatives I trust) that could otherwise screw up an extremely sexy getaway! Champagne, candlelit evenings, and the warm and welcoming presence of my other half.

Author, Author
...read all about it!
Welcome everyone to another beautiful Monday. Today we have a new author with us and I can't wait for you all to learn more about her.
Please welcome:
Charliann Roberts !
Hi Charliann, could you tell us a little about yourself?
I was born and raised in Minnesota. I’ve lived in Marina Del Rey, and Santa Monica, CA. I now reside in Arizona, in “The Valley of the Sun” with my long-time sweetheart and our “children”, a Sheltie (daddy’s baby) and a Corgi (mommy’s baby).
What or who initially inspired you to become a writer?
I’ve always loved to read. I have wanted to write for many years but never had the time. (I know, that’s the common excuse.) Three years ago I was laid off of two different jobs because of the economy. That was when I began writing. Writing turned out to be the best job I’ve ever had (especially the part of working the hours you want and when you want).
What kind of research do you do for a novel and how extensive do you get?
Most of my research is online. Every so often, I head to the library. The romantic suspense novel I’m currently working on required many questions, answered by the AJPD (Apache Junction Police Dept.) and I thank them for the time they spent answering each and every one of them in detail.
Do you have a special place you like to do your writing? Such as an office, a spare room, the dining room table, your couch?
My office – my desk is in front of a window overlooking a beautiful mountain view.
As a reader, what types of works do you like to read and do you think they influence the genre/genres you write in?
I love contemporary romance and romantic suspense. They definitely influence the genre I write in.
What is your favorite method of writing...as in laptop, desktop, Ipad or the old fashioned pencil and paper?? And do you plot out your story or go with the flow of your muse?
My first novel, The Sunny Side of the Mountain, began with an outline. My second novel (now in editing) I just typed whatever came to mind. For my third novel, I’ve just completed the outline. I’m finding that having and outline is a bit easier. Once that is down on paper and I know point A to point B, my mind can wander all and anywhere it wants. I’ve also recently found that I write better and faster the “old fashioned” way – on the couch with pencils, lots of erasers, and a thick tablet. Then when I’m ready to type it out, it’s like editing my first draft. I use my laptop, that way I’m able to take it everywhere I go, whether it’s on vacation, or up to our cabin in the White Mountains.
When you need a break or some time off from the trials of being a writer, what can you be found doing?
We head up to our cabin (of course my writing tags along). I also love to read, crochet, walk the dogs, (cleaning the house is last on the list).
Is there anything about yourself nobody knows that you would like to share with our readers??
If nobody knows, then no one knows.
For fun, I have a few personal questions,
Your Favorite 5
1) Favorite color - Blue2) Favorite dessert – Ice cream
3) Favorite Season – In Arizona it’s Winter!
4) Favorite sad song- The theme to Love Story5) Favorite Romantic movie – It will always be Love Story
And a bonus, what is your ideal romantic vacation??
Anywhere, as long as I’m with my sweetheart.
Where can our readers find you??
On Facebook or my website at www.charliann-roberts.com (if you can’t find me I’m hiding up in the mountains somewhere).
Is there an upcoming or current release you would like to share with us today and where can we find it?
The Sunny Side of the Mountain
by Charliann Roberts http://www.charliann-roberts.com
He was her rock, her soul. He was her everything. When he told her they should go their separate ways it hurt so much. Cassandra knew as she watched Sean walk away from her, that she’d never love anyone with the depth and emotion that she loved him. Heartbroken and forlorn she surrendered to deep compulsive sobs.
She tucked those feelings away when she thought she had finally found the “perfect” husband. However, soon after the birth of their twins, she began to see another side of Jeff that he’d kept hidden from her.
Surviving a turbulent marriage that almost kills her, Cassandra is finally convinced to file for divorce. She takes the twins and heads up north deep into the woods to a cabin where no one will find them... but soon she discovers that they are being followed.
Now for sale in paperback and eBook!
Excerpt: As she walked through the meadow, she enjoyed the sweet scent of flowers. She came to the edge of the grassland and approached the dirt road that led to Nick’s ranch. She felt happy and carefree. Further down the road, she spotted a cluster of beautiful butterflies fluttering around the wildflowers scattered along the edge of the road. When she slowly passed by them, they flew over to her and swirled around her head. She stopped and gazed up at them, her hands placed on each cheek. She held a big smile, and was careful not to frighten them away.
“You are so beautiful and such distinct little creatures,” she said softly. There aren’t that many butterflies around, these days. It was a rare treat to see so many at one time.
She noticed a truck approaching from behind, about a mile down the road. It seemed to be moving a bit too fast, gathering clouds of dust, so she found it impossible to perceive whether or not it was Nick’s truck. Assuming it would slow down, she stayed on the edge of the dirt road and kept walking. Suddenly, she glanced over her shoulder. It wasn’t slowing down, it was picking up speed.
Panic welled up in her throat when she realized it was coming straight at her. She gasped in terror and choked back a frightened cry, then spun around frantically. She leaped back into the meadow, and ran as fast as she could. If she could get to the high grass just ahead, she knew that the creek flowed close by and her salvation might lie there.
It must be Jeff, most likely very intoxicated, as he zigzagged back and forth, acting as though he was playing a game. She tried to run faster when she heard the truck approaching. The wild grass and flowers became thicker and taller, and now reached to the top of her head. She heard the vehicle very close behind.
At last, she spotted the creek and knew this was her only means to stay out of sight. When she approached the edge, she lowered to her knees, then thrust herself into the waist deep water and quickly submerged. She held her breath as her shirt billowed out with trapped air until it became waterlogged. With her short height, she was able to stay just below the surface as she moved across the rocky bottom on her hands and knees, grazing them. She followed the strong current, which eased the pain on her kneecaps.
No longer able to remain underwater, gasping for air, she frantically lifted her head just as the truck plunged into the creek and rolled onto its side.
She shivered, and tried to stay very still while she waited. She stood and watched for any movement. Then Jeff’s head and shoulders appeared through the open window.
He looked up, saw her, and hatred blazed in his eyes. His glare burned through her as she slowly moved her hand to her waist and felt for her pepper spray. Attached to her belt loop, she loosened it from the pocket of her jeans. Her clothes were soaking wet, but the pepper spray was waterproof. She crept toward the opposite edge of the creek, and stopped to speculate what her best move would be. With difficulty, she struggled over the rocky bottom, and tried to remain calm, but she was beginning to shake as fearful images began to build in her mind.
When Cassandra risked a glance at him, the color drained from her face. He’d now completely freed himself from his vehicle, and had begun to wade toward her in a limping fashion.
She turned blindly, and stumbled on the slippery rocks. Frantic now, unable to obtain a secure foothold, she looked behind her. His limp had begun to slow him down. When the tread on her tennis shoe grabbed support on a large rock, she was able to climb the small bank, and then turned to run north, toward Nick’s ranch.
Suddenly, he grabbed her forearm tightly and spun her around. His eyes darkened dangerously with a beastly, threatening look. While he kept a tight hold on her, she gasped at sight of a knife in his hand. Suddenly, he lost his footing, and she was able to pull away fiercely, and slid her arm from his grip. She instantly stepped back, grabbed her pepper spray, and turned around just as his hands reached out toward her. He had a repulsive look on his face.
“Back off, Jeffrey,” she said, but he just kept coming at her.

Reviews: 5.0 out of 5 stars Heart warming story By Christine Warner From the first sentence it was easy to connect with Cassandra, the heroine in the story. Her emotions came through so effortlessly in her movements and internals and even a person who had no empathy would be hard pressed not to feel for her and her situation.
She's a strong lady who dealt with a rotten marriage to an abusive spouse. Her saving grace was the wonderful relationships she had with her children and a select group of friends and her Aunt Em...another strong female figure in her life who helped raise her.
This story told of Cassandra's hardships, her determination, her victories and did it all with wonderful description and heartfelt emotion. Throughout the story I felt like I was taking the journey with Cassandra, seeing it from her eyes. The ups and downs, good times and bad. Before I knew it, I was at the end.
I don't want to spoil it for anyone about to read it, so I don't want to give anything away except to say this was a very easy read. The story was interesting and flowed smoothly with a nice, pleasant pace.
Congratulations to Charliann Roberts for bringing Cassandra and the other characters to life with vivid detail and description. 5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Read! By Debra L. Blackwell "juliet2cool4u" (Westfield, N.c.) - When I read the first two sentences of Ms. Roberts blurb for The Sunny Side of the Mountain, I knew I was going to fall in love with Cassandra's story. "He was her rock, her soul. He was her everything." I don't think I have ever cheered for anyone as much as this endearing brave woman who never gave up on finding a love to call her own. Her life did not start out perfect. She loved Sean with the fierceness that comes with a first time love only to find out it abruptly ended much to soon. Never really understanding her heartache of losing him, she later meets Jeff who misleads her into thinking he was her perfect soul mate. His secrets and the birth of the twins send her on a journey I was only too happy to follow. I give this read 5 stars and hope to read more from a first time author I enjoyed immensely! 5.0 out of 5 stars A Pure Delight! By rkooyman "rkooyman" - The Sunny Side of the Mountain was a pure delight to read. It is a novel you want to curl up in your favorite chair on a Saturday afternoon, with a cup of hot chocolate in one hand and Charliann Robert's book in the other. It is tender and sweet with just enough of suspense to keep you wondering what will happen next. This author gave the reader everything they ever would want in a romance/suspense novel. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to walk away with a smile on your face and a warm heart. Congratulations Charliann for a well written book. I for one can't wait for your next novel to be released. Without any hesitation I give this novel a well-deserved 5-star rating

Author, Author...
.....read all about it!
I'm so excited to say we have a great author with us today. Please welcome..... Ella Jade
Thanks so much for being with us today...can you tell us a little about yourself? My name is Ella Jade and I've been writing for as long as I can remember. The dialog and plots have always played out in my head, but I never knew what to do with them. That all changed when I discovered the eBooks industry. I'm a SAHM to two active boys. When I'm not writing, I like to kick box, spend time with my family and spin plots in my head.
What or who initially inspired you to become a writer? The characters inspire me. They speak pretty loud inside my head and motivate me to tell their story. I love to tell a story. There are so many characters and relationships to explore.
What kind of research do you do for a novel and how extensive do you get? Most of my ideas come from my imagination. I've written a few BDSM stories, so I had to research some elements for those stories. Mostly I research locations and geography to get the perfect setting. I'm big with dialog, so I just run the conversations in my head to make sure they sound right.
Do you have a special place you like to do your writing? Such as an office, a spare room, the dining room table, your couch? I'm all over the place. During the day, I hang out in the dining room. I've turned that into my office. At night, I can be found in the guest room. I slip under the covers and create. The house is quiet and I can focus.
As a reader, what types of works do you like to read and do you think they influence the genre/genres you write in? I've always been a big Nora Roberts fan. Yes. I'd definitely say reading her stories influenced the genre I write in. I love a strong romance. My favorite thing to explore is relationships. I love finding new ways to bring couples together.
What is your favorite method of writing...as in laptop, desktop, Ipad or the old fashioned pencil and paper?? And do you plot out your story or go with the flow of your muse?
My laptop takes a pretty good beating. I also use the netbook because its portable. I take it when I'm getting my hair dyed or when I'm sitting at my kids' practices. I start out with a basic outline. It just tells me where I'd like to go, but once I sit down and start typing, I really let the characters take me where I need to go.
When you need a break or some time off from the trials of being a writer, what can you be found doing? These days I rarely take a break. If I do, I can be found at the gym. When a story isn't doing what I want it to do, I walk away for a bit. I'll do laundry or take a hot shower. When I go back, I'm good to go.
For fun, I have a few personal questions, Your Favorite 5 1) Favorite color - Silver2) Favorite dessert - Cheesecake3) Favorite Season – Fall (I love Halloween)4) Favorite sad song- Someone Like You (Adele)5) Favorite Romantic movie – Pretty Woman
And a bonus, what is your ideal romantic vacation?? Any place, quiet, warm and serene. I'd love to spend a few days alone with my husband on a secluded island.
Where can our readers find you?? http://ellajadeauthor.blogspot.com
Is there an upcoming or current release you would like to share with us today and where can we find it?

Three's A Crowd is a highly erotic, short tale about a fun, sexy, contemporary couple. If I'm a "new to you author", this novella is a great way to get to know me. The book is an Amazon exclusive published through Ruby Lioness Press. It’s a quick, steamy read priced at $0.99 and free to Prime Members. It is a perfect pool or beach read.
Connor Hughes is a lucky man. Janine and Sierra, the two sexy women who live downstairs from him have invited him to watch their intimate time in the bedroom. Connor is a willing spectator, but can't believe it when Janine asks him to join in on the fun. Connor is drawn to Sierra in ways he'd never imagined. There is something very familiar about the dark-haired beauty that has him wondering why she calls to him.
When fantasy mixes with reality, Connor gives into temptation in more ways than one. Will he figure out who Sierra is to him? Can the feeling last all night? http://www.amazon.com/Threes-a-Crowd-ebook/dp/B00884O3S0/ref=sr_1_7?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1338598060&sr=1-7
