LISTEN: Watch, Pray, and Work, Part 3 (Second Coming Chapel with Daniel Whyte III)
Daniel Whyte IIITEXT: Mark 13:32-37
32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
34 For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
— PRAYER —
Watch, Pray, and Work, Part 3
In our last message, we talked about the importance of taking heed to Jesus’ teachings as we wait for His Second Coming. The world is constantly harking its wares before our eyes, tempting us to be drawn away from the Lord. But, when He comes, Jesus wants to see that we still have our eyes fixed on Him because He is “the author and finisher of our faith.”
In this parable, we are the servants in the house of the master who has gone on a long journey. In his absence, we are to “take heed” to his commands and observe his teachings. Second, we are to “watch.” Warren Wiersbe writes in his commentary: “To ‘watch’ means to be alert, to stay at one’s best, to stay awake. Why must we stay alert? Because nobody knows when Jesus Christ will return. When He was on earth in His humiliation, Jesus did not know the day or hour of His coming again. Even the angels do not know. The unsaved world scoffs at us because we continue to cling to this ‘blessed hope,’ but He will return as He promised. Our task is to be faithful and to be busy, not to speculate or debate about the hidden details of prophecy.”
Being watchful is a matter of obedience to the Lord. It is a matter of wanting to please Him so that when He comes, we can hear the words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Watchfulness means that we live in such a way that we are ready for the Lord to come back at any time. We are eager for His Second Coming. We often say to ourselves, “It might be today.” Being watchful is not just for a few Bible prophecy geeks among us. Jesus says every believer ought to be watching for His return. “What I say unto you I say unto all, Watch!”
There is a special reward for those who are faithful, eager watchers. Paul wrote to Timothy, “There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Do you love the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ? Do you pray with John, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus”? Are you faithfully watching today?
Fanny Crosby wrote:
When Jesus comes to reward His servants,
Whether it be noon or night,
Faithful to Him will He find us watching,
With our lamps all trimmed and bright?
If, at the dawn of the early morning,
He shall call us one by one,
When to the Lord we restore our talents,
Will He answer thee–“Well done”?
Have we been true to the trust He left us?
Do we seek to do our best?
If in our hearts there is naught condemns us,
We shall have a glorious rest.
Blessed are those whom the Lord finds watching,
In His glory they shall share;
If He shall come at the dawn or midnight,
Will He find us watching there?
Now, if you are not a believer in Jesus Christ, I urge you to trust in Him because He is coming again and you do not want to be left behind. Here is how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and the consequences of sin.
First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”
Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.
Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Daniel Whyte IIITEXT: Matthew 6:9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
—–
On yesterday, we began looking at the fourth essential part of The Lord’s Prayer, where Jesus tells us to pray, “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” When we pray, we ought to confess our sins — even those things that we may not think of as serious sins. When we confess our sins, God promises to forgive us of them. However, there is something additional that we must do before we can regard our sins as forgiven: we must forgive those who have sinned against us. Our prayer is, “Forgive us our debts, AS WE forgive our debtors.”
The Greek word for ‘debt’ means something that is owed — a spiritual or moral debt owed to God, or in this case to the person praying and seeking forgiveness. In the parallel passage of the Lord’s Prayer found in Luke, a different Greek word — hamartia — is used which clearly indicates that the prayer is talking about sin and not financial obligations. We cannot go to God asking for forgiveness of our sins if we refuse to forgive those who have sinned against us. “Well,” you say, “So-and-so has not come to me asking for forgiveness.” That is not the point. God didn’t wait for us to come to Him asking for salvation before He decided to send Jesus Christ as the sacrifice for sin. We ought to forgive freely because we have been freely forgiven by God. We are commanded in Ephesians 4:32 to ‘forgive one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.’
The phrases, “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors,” are dependent on each other. God will not forgive us if we do not forgive those who have sinned against us. John MacArthur said, “If we want to enjoy the benefits of God’s forgiveness toward us, we must be willing to forgive other believers, even those who repeatedly sin against us. Or we can express this final principle more directly, which is that God does not forgive those who do not forgive others.”
Early in his life, John Wesley, one of the founders of Methodism, was a missionary to the American colonies. He ministered in the area that would one day become the state of Georgia. There was a general by the name of Oglethorpe with whom Wesley had some dealings. General Oglethorpe was a great military leader, but he had a reputation as a harsh and brutal man. One day he said to John Wesley, “I never forgive.” And Wesley replied, “Then, sir, I hope you never sin.”
We all have sinned against God and others. The Bible makes that plain. Our life experiences also make plain that others have sinned against us. There is a remedy for this undesirable part of the human condition — prayer to God and forgiveness of others. Let us be quick to forgive, quick to confess, and quick to pray: “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.”
Robert E. Smith wrote:
Remember Christ, our Savior
Who paid the debts you owed
To God the heavenly Father
And to you mercy showed.
When others sin against you
Be ready to forgive.
Since you have been forgiven
With them in peace now live.
O Father, Son, and Spirit,
O Patient Trinity,
Who lifts from us sin’s burden
And from its debt sets free.
Grant us the will to pardon
All those who us offend
That we might enter heaven
With them when ages end.

—–
We are continuing our in-depth look at the six parts of what is called The Lord’s Prayer. As a reminder, those six essential building blocks are:
1. Praise and reverence for God.
2. Putting God’s will before ours.
3. Asking for our daily needs.
4. Asking for forgiveness of sin and forgiving others.
5. Asking for deliverance from temptation and evil.
6. Once again, praise and reverence for God.
We have already looked at the first three elements of this prayer — “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name,” “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven,” “Give us this day our daily bread…”
Today, we are going to begin looking at the fourth element in which Jesus Christ teaches us to pray, “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” Charles Spurgeon said, “No prayer of mortal men could be complete without confession of sin.” Why? Because even though we are saved, even though we strive to do what is right, it is inevitable that we will sometimes act or think in a manner that is displeasing to God. When we think of “sin,” our minds often focus on “big,” outward sins such as adultery, murder, lying, or stealing. But the Bible informs us that a lustful glance, the entertaining of impure thoughts, and not doing the good that we know to do are all offensive in God’s eyes. When we pray, we must confess each of those infractions as sins as well.
In his autobiography, Just As I Am, evangelist Billy Graham tells the story of how one day he got sick and was taken to the hospital. He had preached in hundreds of crusades and events around the world. He was getting on up in years, and as he lay in that hospital bed with pain wracking his body, he began to pray and ask God to just take him on home. He said, “As I lay in that hospital bed, I came face to face with my own sins and the Glory of God. God reminded me of even the little things that I had done that were offensive to Him, and I confessed them one by one.”
Let’s look closely at the word “forgive” in this passage. This word comes from a Greek word which means to send away or to set loose. It was a legal term which meant to free someone from a bond, to acquit, or to make exempt. That is what God does for us when He forgives us. He sets us loose from our sin and the guilt of sin. God’s promise to repentant sinners is, “I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember them no more. However, 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins.” Just as salvation is conditional on our acceptance of the gift offered through Jesus Christ, forgiveness of sins after salvation is conditional on the confession of our sins. So, in prayer, we must confess our sins and ask God to forgive us of our sins, and because He cannot lie, He will forgive us.
In his hymn, “An Evening Prayer,” C. Maude Battersby wrote:
If I have wounded any soul today,
If I have caused one foot to go astray,
If I have walked in my own willful way,
Dear Lord, forgive!
If I have uttered idle words or vain,
If I have turned aside from want or pain,
Lest I myself shall suffer through the strain,
Dear Lord, forgive!
If I have been perverse or hard, or cold,
If I have longed for shelter in Thy fold,
When Thou hast given me some fort to hold,
Dear Lord, forgive!
Forgive the sins I have confessed to Thee;
Forgive the secret sins I do not see;
O guide me, love me and my keeper be,
Dear Lord, Amen.

LISTEN: The Power of Remembering, Thanksgiving, and Praying, Part 3 (Praying Through the Bible #304 with Daniel Whyte III)
TEXT: Philippians 1:1-6
1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
— PRAYER —
We are in a series of messages titled “Praying Through the Bible: A Series on Every Passage and Verse Regarding Prayer in the Bible.” The purpose of this series is to encourage and motivate you to pray to the God of the Bible. We highlighted each of these over 500 verses and passages in the Prayer Motivator Devotional Bible. So far, we have completed 303 messages in this series.
This is message #304 titled, The Power of Remembering, Thanksgiving, and Praying, Part 3.
From this passage, we have been looking at the importance of remembering and thanking God for the situations and people whom God has allowed in our lives, be they good or bad. An excellent time to practice the discipline of remembrance is during prayer. During prayer, we are often tempted to complain to God or to focus on what we don’t have and think we need. But, from Paul’s example in this passage, we learn that it is important to choose to remember and thank God for all that we have and all that has happened to us regardless of our present circumstances.
Regarding our passage, Dr. John Walvoord notes, “The apostles’ prayer life is a remarkable aspect of his total testimony and is frequently mentioned in his epistles. In his busy life on his missionary journeys as well as now in his imprisonment, Paul dedicated many hours to prayer. His prayer life is a noble example to all who would be effective in Christian work and testimony. No doubt the Philippian church had also prayed for him, and this forms part of their fellowship with him. He mentions, ‘Your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now.’ Their fellowship was not only social and spiritual, but they were fellow laborers through their prayer and gifts in all that Paul had wrought.”
It is easy for us to see the negativity in others. It is easy for us to have an ungrateful spirit toward others. Paul, in his imprisoned state, could have begrudged the freedom of the Philippians. But, when Paul thought about his fellow believers, he chose to be thankful for them. He looked on the bright side. He recognized the good they had done for him. But, more importantly, he recognized and rejoiced in the good that God was doing in these young believers.
That is something we ought to practice more often in our prayers. Instead of complaining to God about how someone has mistreated us, we can choose to be thankful for those who have treated us well. Instead of being envious about someone else’s spiritual progress, we can be thankful for the way God is working in and through their life. Prayer is the communication of our hearts to God. And, whether we express words with our mouth or not, God knows whether or not our hearts are filled with ingratitude, bitterness, and envy. But, prayer is also a way of correcting our hearts before God and keeping our hearts free from the foolishness and wickedness of our feeble human nature. Paul did this by thanking God upon “every remembrance” of the Philippians. We ought to do the same — express thanksgiving with every remembrance.
Josiah Condor wrote:
O give thanks to Him who made
Morning light and evening shade;
Source and Giver of all good,
Nightly sleep and daily food;
Quickener of our wearied powers,
Guard of our unconscious hours.
O give thanks to Him who came
In a mortal, suffering frame—
Temple of the Deity—
Came for rebel man to die;
In the path Himself hath trod
Leading back His saints to God.

Now, if you are with us today, and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, your first prayer needs to be what we call the Sinner’s Prayer. First, please understand that you are a sinner, just as I am, and that you have broken God’s laws. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Now this is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
—–
The third building block of The Lord’s Prayer is asking God for our daily needs. Jesus instructs us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Although most of us like to be self-sufficient, asking our Father in Heaven for our daily needs reminds us that we are ultimately dependent on Him for everything.
We see a great example of dependence on God in the animal kingdom. Most animals do not store up food for themselves. Birds don’t have stockpiles of worms and berries in their nests. Lions don’t have antelope and gazelle meat stored up in a freezer. They wake each day knowing that their Creator has provided the food they need for that day. Later on in this same chapter, Jesus Christ says, “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”
When was the last time you prayed for your daily bread? Some of us think that prayer is a high and lofty matter. We are alright with praying to “our Father who art in Heaven” and praying “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” But we often neglect to pray for the “little things” — like our daily bread. What happens when we fail to pray about these things? Ray Stedman writes that we begin to “take these things for granted, and gradually we succumb to the quite foolish delusion that we actually can provide these necessities ourselves. We become possessed with the incredible vanity that our wisdom and our abilities have really made these things possible, that we can supply these things quite apart from God. And when we begin to think that way, we find pride swells within us and a kind of blindness settles upon us, a blindness which darkens our spiritual insight.”
Dear friend, don’t take your daily bread for granted. Don’t take the simple things, the seemingly insignificant things of life for granted. Pray about everything. Thank God for everything. The fact that we must ask God for our daily bread — our basic, everyday needs — ought not to discourage us. Rather, it ought to encourage us to pray because we know that we serve a God who cares about us and who wants to provide for even the so-called small things of life.
Mary Bernstecher wrote:
God has given you His promise
That He hears and answers prayer.
He will heed your supplication
If you cast on Him your care.
He will not withhold one blessing,
He will give you what is best.
God will answer by His Spirit,
Every one who makes request.
Take to God your plans and failures,
Any time and anywhere.
No one ever goes unanswered,
For He answers every prayer.

Now, if you are with us today and you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to show you how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and Hell.
Amen.
If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! LISTEN: Diet, Disease, & Weight Loss, Part 3 (Overcoming the Acceptable Christian Sin of Gluttony #8 with Daniel Whyte III)
Welcome to the Overcoming the Acceptable Christian Sin of Gluttony podcast, a companion podcast to the Acceptable Christian Sin of Gluttony message series. The purpose of this podcast is to share with you, from a biblical perspective, the means by which we can combat and overcome the sin of gluttony and its outcome of obesity.
Daniel Whyte IIIOur passage from the Word of God today is Numbers 11:21-23 which reads: “And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? And the Lord said unto Moses, Is the Lord’s hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.”
Now, let’s look at gluttony and its effects in the news: According to statistics, ‘More than half of those affected by obesity (around 50-60 percent) have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). In cases of severe obesity, this figure is around 90 percent. OSA is a very serious breathing disorder. OSA occurs when excess fat in the neck, throat, and tongue block air passageways during sleep. This blockage causes apnea, which means a person stops breathing for a time. A person with OSA may have hundreds of apnea episodes each night. Apnea episodes reduce the amount of oxygen in a person’s blood.’
In this podcast, we are going through the book, The RAVE Diet and Lifestyle: The Natural Foods Diet With Meals that Heal, by Mike Anderson. He writes in Chapter 1: Diet, Disease, & Weight Loss (Part 4):
The Magic of Whole Plant Foods
The best, simplest and most cost-effective way Americans can vastly improve their health and prevent our major diseases is to radically increase their consumption of whole, natural plant foods. Unlike foods that may have a single “good” nutrient that comes in a package of bad nutrients, whole natural foods do not have such tradeoffs. Whole foods are good for the whole body. They are not just “heart-healthy,” they are healthy for the heart, the brain, the arteries and all organs. They are “entire” body-healthy.
How good are whole foods? We are just at the beginning of our understanding. Let me give you an illustration. In the 1970s, there was a study conducted in which animals were fed two percent of their diet from red dye, sodium cyclamate or an emulsifier. The animals that were fed just one additive showed no harmful effects at all. The animals that were fed two of the additives showed balding fur, diarrhea and retarded weight gain. But the animals that were fed all three additives were dead within two weeks.
In a similar fashion, it was recently reported that Parkinson’s disease has been linked to the exposure of not one, but a combination of pesticides, namely paraquat and organophosphate.
What this illustrates is that toxins, when taken together, amplify their toxicity in a synergistic and logarithmic fashion.
In a similar – but beneficial – way, nutrients work together in the same way, e.g., calcium with magnesium, vitamin E with selenium, protein with B6 and so forth. There are also thousands of antioxidants that work together in a synergistic fashion which multiplies their health-enhancing effects. A tomato, for example, contains over 10,000 different phytochemicals. The possible combinations and permutations of nutrients once inside the body are simply mind-boggling. And, at this point, we have only a child-like understanding of how these nutrients work together in literally hundreds of thousands of combinations.
There have been a number of studies that show when a single chemo-preventive nutrient is fed to animals it had no effect on the incidence of cancer. But when two or more nutrients were combined, the cancer growth was sharply cut. What these studies examined was just a few nutrients, not the thousands and thousands of combinations that go on inside your body every day in the real world.
Remember when vitamin C was the rage? Everyone was taking vitamin C tablets like they were going out of style. Then it was discovered that vitamin C wasn’t very well absorbed unless a couple of bioflavonoids were present (hesperidin and rutin). So the manufacturers re-tooled and added these bioflavonoids to the pills and everything was supposed to be Ok again. Except it was later discovered that despite the presence of these bioflavonoids, the body couldn’t absorb vitamin C very well unless calcium was present, as well. So the pills were re-formulated with bioflavonoids and calcium. So, while the public remained confused – but nonetheless kept swallowing their vitamin C tablets – they continued to overlook a source of vitamin C that had all the elements together and allowed optimal absorption of the vitamin: citrus fruits, such as oranges and grapefruits – as well as a myriad of other plant foods bearing vitamin C! While “blind” scientists were baffled trying to come up with one or two or three key ingredients that would allow the body to effectively absorb vitamin C in pill form, people forgot that nature had already come up with a solution to this problem in the form of whole plant foods, which contain thousands of nutrient profiles scientists are still in the dark about.
The point is this: When scientists try to isolate a single nutrient or even a handful of nutrients, this is not only overly simplistic, but also doomed to misleading results and failure. In fact, this kind of analysis is like the six blind men trying to understand the nature of an elephant. While science will continue to identify key nutrients in foods, it is a certainty that science will never understand how the millions of nutrients interact with each other. The mathematical possibilities are simply too immense.
When I say there is “magic” in whole foods, I’m talking about what we do not understand about whole foods – and that is far more than we do know.
What we do know, however, is that they are good for us – in fact, far and away much better for us than anything ever created by science. What we do know is that we should eat a wide variety of foods because each food has its own nutrient profile and this profile will interact with other foods containing their own profile and together, they will multiply, in logarithmic fashion, each other’s protective benefits.
When a diet is practically devoid of whole plant foods, only trouble can result. In such a situation, Americans are turning to supplements in order to bolster an inadequate diet – but supplements cannot possibly replace the potency of whole foods containing a multitude of nutrient profiles we haven’t even a clue about. In every study ever conducted which compared supplements with whole plant foods, supplements could not hold a candle to the power and potency of whole foods. A recent study showed that taking supplements, containing lycopene from tomatoes, did nothing to lower the risk of prostate cancer, whereas whole tomatoes, containing a complex profile of nutrients, did lower the risk. How it lowered the risk, scientists haven’t a clue because nature is far too complex to be understood with our crude tools. And, once again, this illustrates the failure of trying to isolate a single nutrient as a cure to a disease and sell it to the public as a “magic bullet.”
The bottom line is that no matter how hard they try, scientists cannot capture the “magical” nutrient profiles of whole foods in a pill and that magic can only be passed into your body by eating them.
— PRAYER —
Now, in this series, as we focus on overcoming the sin of gluttony, and managing our bodies as God intended, we must not lose sight of the most important part of our existence — our spiritual life. Even those of you who are fit, who eat right, and who exercise regularly must still address the condition of your soul. You may keep your body in perfect condition till the day you die, but you will still die — we all will, and the only thing that will matter is the condition of your soul. Is your soul in shape? Is your soul in right standing with God?
The only way to make sure of that is to trust Jesus Christ as your Savior from sin and the consequences of sin. He alone can save your soul, put you in right standing with God, and ensure that you do not perish in Hell. Now, if you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, here is how you can trust Him today.
Amen.
If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! LISTEN: How the Saints of God Should Pray, Part 8 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 491 since Jan. 20, 2017 / Day 858 since Jan. 1, 2016 with Daniel Whyte III)
Daniel Whyte III
On this Father’s Day, we thank God for being the greatest Father of all and we thank God for giving us good fathers.
TEXT: Matthew 6:9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
—–
We are continuing our in depth look at the six parts of what is called the Lord’s prayer. Those six essential parts are:
1. We praise and recognize God.
2. We put God’s will before ours.
3. We ask for our daily needs.
4. We confess our sins and ask for forgiveness of sin.
5. We ask God to deliver us from temptation and evil.
6. We praise and recognize God’s glory once again.
We have already looked at the first and second building blocks of this prayer — “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name” and “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Today, we are going to begin looking at the third building block through which Jesus teaches us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.”
Now, if we’re honest, most of us will admit that we do not like this prayer. We do not want to have to look to God — or to anyone else for that matter — for our daily bread. We want to be able to look in our refrigerator, or at least in our bank accounts, and know that we will have food and other necessities for the next few days, weeks, and months. And, sometimes, God will give us the luxury of that blessing.
But why doesn’t God do that for all of us all the time? Why doesn’t He give us provisions or the assurance of provisions for an extended amount of time? If you recall, He didn’t do that for the Israelites in the wilderness. God sent manna down each morning, and the Israelites were to go out and gather just what they needed for that day. What was God doing? God was teaching the Israelites that they needed to trust Him and depend on Him for everything.
God wants to teach us that today as well. That is why Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Even though we may not like having to depend on God for our needs, the fact of the matter is we are already dependent on God for our very lives. Every breath we take is a gift from God. At any moment in this world, disaster can strike, and we can end up dead or seriously injured. D.L. Moody said, “A man can no more take a supply of grace for the future than he can eat enough today to last him for the next six months; nor can he inhale sufficient air into his lungs with one breath to sustain life for a week to come. We are permitted to draw upon God’s store of grace from day to day as we need it!”
Knowing that we are dependent on God helps us grow closer to Him and increases our loyalty and faithfulness to him.

Then in God’s Word came a message so clear,
Pray about everything!
Ask of your Father, He loves to please,
Unlock his treasure; He gives us the keys,
Claiming this promise I dropped to my knees,
Pray about everything.
Riches in Jesus, abundant and free,
Needs in our work, or whatever it be,
Ours for the asking, This only his plea,
Pray about everything.

Now, if you are with us today and you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, allow me to show you how you can place your faith and trust in Him for Salvation from sin and Hell.
Amen.
If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! LISTEN: On Father’s Day, Thank God for Being the Greatest Father of All and Thank Him for Giving Us Good Fathers (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign with Daniel Whyte III)
Daniel Whyte III
On this Father’s Day, we thank God for being the greatest Father of all and we thank God for giving us good fathers.
As I have said before, I believe that, contrary to what the world says, fathers have more insight, discernment, and intuition regarding their children than mothers.
The Bible has much to say about fathers and fatherhood.
God said of Abraham in Genesis 18:19, “I know him; he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.”
Psalm 127:3-5 says, “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”
Proverbs 23:24 says, “The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.”
Proverbs 17:6 says, “Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.”
Deuteronomy 1:29-31 says, “Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.”
Proverbs 3:11-12 says, “My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”
Psalm 103:13 says, “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.”
Matthew 7:9-11 says, “What man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
Writing to his children in the faith, the Apostle John wrote in 3 John 1:4 said, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
Psalm 68:5 says, “A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.”
Today, we thank God for being the greatest Father of all — a father willing to sacrifice in order to save us. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
THIS IS MY FATHER’S WORLD
This is my Father’s world,
And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas–
His hand the wonders wrought.
This is my Father’s world:
The birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white,
Declare their Maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world:
He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.
This is my Father’s world:
O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world:
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King: let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let earth be glad!
