Comrade Margaret, thank you for posting this memo from Third Way.  


Reading this article elicited many laughs from this Salmon.  My favorite Big Lie was in the second paragraph:  "In reality, most Democrats do not run or govern on wildly out-of-touch social positions."  Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha etc.  

So many great lines in this piece.  I had to keep checking to make sure this came from Third Way and not from some sarcastic parody site (like The People's Cube).  Really, I guess you would have to be terminally tone deaf to actually believe what Democrats believe.  



This article is brilliant.  Even though we are superior in every way and have every reason to be haughty and arrogant, we can fool the "reluctant voter" into supporting our plans by just treating them like they are idiots.  After all, they are idiots and treating them as such has worked so well for us.   Or something!

We should not be reduced to catering to bourgeois democratic politics. False consciousness cannot be liquidated by catering to false consciousness. It is just a part of the superstructure of capitalism. This catering to capitalism has destroyed all revolutionary spirit and given us the very worst of the very worst possible worlds. The therapy for false consciousness isn't catering to it by trying to speak its language. This is abject surrender. This is the kind of thinking that has Balkanized the Left. In order to cater to bourgeois democracy and create voting constituencies the Left abandoned the only true class struggle, that of economic class, and for pure political gain substituted identity group voting classes. This has destroyed the revolution because identity politics has nothing to do with reality and is just catering to the capitalist class democratic superstructure with which they use to keep false consciousness alive. This has made the Left just another part of the capitalist superstructure of state. What needs to be done is to return to uniting us by our commonalities not differences. And our commonality is economic class and the class war against capital.

The way to fight false consciousness isn't to change the way we talk to false consciousness. Then we become part of the problem. To fight false consciousness we have to put the crackers back in the barrel and liquidate them all.
