Sexy Excerpt from Midnight Beckoning

November 15th will be the release date of my newest novel, Midnight Beckoning. I thought I would share a little bit of it with you today. In an attempt to expand my genre reach, I've created a world filled with entities I've never written about before. Fascinated by the world of damphyr and incubi, I hope I've been able to add a new twist to this paranormal story. Naturally, as with most of my paranormal characters, I didn't color inside the lines, so I hope no one expects stereotypical folklore!!  Ford Lenox, a natural born damphyr, waitedthree hundred years for the phenomenon of his birth to be repeated. Many hadbeen conceived. Many had even been born. But, only a few made it to theirtwenty-first birthday. And, noneshared the same requirements as he, to assume their rightful place at his sideand become his queen.Until now. Lauren Neil was born three hundredyears to the day after Ford's birth, and it was no coincidence that he foundher only days before her twenty-first birthday. Little did she know that thedamphyr lurking beneath her human surface was about to be unleashed, prominently placing her on the throne to rule over damphyr and vampirealike.  Lauren's demonic sire slash father,Drago, an incubus, straight from the pits of hell, has other plans. Can Ford fulfill the prophecy andsave Lauren and their kind? Or will a new species be created to rule the world?Even a match made in heaven, may have to go through hell to survive!
Unedited Excerpt:
Despite an overwhelming need to benear him, Lauren slowly backed away. His shoulders slumped. "It's me whoshould apologize. I should have found you sooner. At least then there wouldhave been time to explain before all hell broke loose.""Literally,"  she scoffed."Lauren, I didn't ask for this lifeand neither did you. But, it is what it is. All we can do is play the hand we−""Stop." She raised her handsdefensively, to stop his words. A pep talk wouldn't make it any easier to take."I can't do this." A vice-grip like pressure compressed her temples confiningthe mass of confusion and dread already trapped in her head."If you don't we're both dead."Lauren turned away and headed backto the couch. Never before had any situation ever appeared black and white toher. She'd always managed to question, defy and even prove things weren'talways what they seemed. Why should this be different? "How can you be sure?""Look, this is bigger than either ofus. The prophecy dates back to when incubi and succubi were first created. Fromthe beginning of the curse."Lauren jutted her chin out feelingan inexplicable sense of power. "You said you were raised by a witch. So ifthis is a curse, that's like a spell or something, isn't it?" She wouldeventually find the loophole, she was sure of it. "Not exactly. This curse came from alittle higher up than some bubbling cauldron in fairy tales."Her concentrated glare narrowed. What did that mean? "How high?""Does the name Lucifer ring anybells?""Bullshit!" Before she could blink, Ford flewacross the room and snatched her up by her shoulders. "Don't try to act sobrave, Lauren. This is happening. You can deny it all you want, but in a coupleof days when your whole body is on fire and you think you're going to die…" Slowlyreleasing his tight grip, he lowered her back down onto the floor. "Trust me,you'll believe."Stunned by the deep seeded growlgrumbling in his chest, Lauren drifted onto the couch burying her face in thepalms of her hands. Crying wouldn't help, but at that moment, it was all shecould do. She hated not being in control. How could any of this be real? Herlife was over before it had time to begin. What about school? Steven? "Oh,God." She gasped. "I have to talk to Steven. He doesn't have a clue where Iam.""The human can't know about this. It's better that he thinks you're dead." Hardness returned to his tone. Lauren wiped her eyes and glared upat him. "The human is my boyfriendand we have plans." Her stomach tightened as that familiarire began to smolder in the pit of her gut. Her life may not have been exciting, filled with demons and vampires, but it was a life, and one she wanted to live."Just because you haven't been human for hundreds of years doesn't mean youcan't act it.""Sometimes the inhuman part is allthat keeps me from losing what humanity Ihave left. It's what makes me strong and someday you'll be thankful you canrely on that side to get you through.""I don't want to rely on whatevermonster is sleeping inside of me," she boomed as she leapt to her feet. "I lovehim." Acid bubbled on the uppermost rim of her stomach and she thought shewould be sick from the sound of the lie echoing in her ears. "Love? Really, Lauren? Is that whyyou've tried everything you could to isolate yourself from his world?" Hetowered over her with a darkened scowl.Lauren swallowed hard as a shiver offright crept up her spine. How could he know that? "You don't know what you'retalking about. Steven and I are going to be married," she lied again. Ford grasped her hand and brought itup in front of her face. "Where's the ring?"Lauren chewed the inside of hercheek. There was no ring because she wasn't engaged. "Look me in the eye and tell me youplanned to spend the rest of your life with that—that guy." He'd leaned in soclose, his hot, sweet breath poured over her. She pulled her hand from his grip. "Thingsare complicated." "It's complicated because you neverintended to stay with him." He hovered over her, his mouth centimeters fromhers. "That's not…" she breathlesslyattempted a reply. Glaring at his lips, all rational thoughts eluded hersenses. She glanced up only to find his eyesdarting back and forth, under firmly furrowed brows. "Ford," she breathed against hisparted lips. Fire burned through her as his mouthpressed against hers. Before she could even think to protest, he swept her intohis arms, yet again, and charged to her bedroom. His body engulfed hers as he kissedher deeper than she recalled ever being kissed. His fingers tangled in her hairand he crawled on top of her. The heaviness of his body pressed her into themattress, his tongue valiantly probing her mouth. Tugging at the t-shirt covering hisbulky shoulders, Lauren pulled him down on top of her harder. Reckless desiressparked her imagination. She could do this. She could be his. Together they could rule the world.

Even a match made in heaven, may have to go through hell to survive!
SSS:

When Crispin laid Lauren on the bed,she curled into a ball, shaking and perspiring profusely. Her lips were ashenand dark circles formed under her eyes. Her muscles violently contracted as theslow crawl of deep blue and purple veins snaked across her arms, neck and face.It was evident the pain-free moments were over and the next several hours wouldbe disturbing to witness.
Ford's heart ached. "It's been a long time since I'vewitnessed a phase in person," he whispered to no one in particular, sickened bythe site of Lauren becoming what she was born to be.

Flesh Wounds: Adult Excerpt and 5 Star review

After five years away, Julia Benson has finally come home.Facing the painful memories awaiting her in the small Texas town is nothingcompared the mess she'll make when she gets there. Dealing with the rippleaffect leaving caused the ones she loved is just as hard as dealing with beingabandoned by a father who wasn't everything she'd believed him to be.Dylan Banks was the boy from across the street who'd loved Juliasince they were twelve. She was the only girl for him and the only one hecouldn't have. Unable to repair that broken part of the girl he loved so muchfrom afar, he now had a second chance to fill the void the only way he could… loveher until she got it through her thick skull that not every man was like herfather. Can love really repair all that has gone wrong in Julia's life or aresome wounds just too deep to heal?

ADULT EXCERPT:

Their clumsy trek to the bedroom left a wake ofcrooked family photos dangling and swaying on the walls of the hallway. Rapidlydiscarded clothes trailed behind them. By the time they made it to the bed,Julia's legs were wrapped tightly around his waist and her thighs held deep redand white handprints where Dylan had grasped her so fervently. She pushed him back onto the bed and crawled on top ofhis already stiffened body. Stroking the length of him, she ran her thump overthe tip and slicked his seeping juices down the shaft. Dylan bristled as she took him into her mouth. "Ohshit," he swore out load. Only she could make him cuss in the throes ofpassion. Dylan tangled her hair in his hand and as she bobbedher head up and down, electricity scattered across his body, making him throbinside her mouth on the verge of exploding. Dylan lifted her chin and glared at her as she lickedher lips. He pulled her to him and flipped her over. Running his hand acrossher abdomen, he slipped his middle finger between the folds of her wet seam, plunging as deep as it would go. Julia writhed under his touch and he slid his fingerin and out, back and forth, working her into a lather, saturating his hand withher cream. He'd played enough. He had to taste her again. "Oh God, Dylan," she exclaimed as he flicked her clitwith his tongue. Her legs tightened around his head forcing his mouthto suck harder and his tongue to probe deeper within her. Dylanpressed on her inner thighs and widened her legs so he could taste as much ofher as possible. Sliding two fingers inside, he pumped feverishly, urging herto climax, devouring the treasure she offered so eagerly. "Ineed you," she whimpered. Dylancharged up the length of her beautiful, shivering body and slipped himselfinside her warm, satiny abyss. Hismind traveled back to all the times he'd watched her across the street orpassed her in the hallway at school. His memory recalled every flip of her hairand every smile on her lips and he made love to her knowing that this time shewas his. He'dclaimed his victory with all the passion and love he'd held back from her thefirst time he had her in his bed. This time was for keeps. He was sure of it. Whateverhad happened between them weeks ago when she'd first arrived home was nothingcompared to the explosion between them now. The encounter was honest anduninhibited. Dylanfit inside of her like a hand inside a custom-made glove and he easily foundnew ways to make her moan, grazing her delicate flesh with each plunge. Thefeel of her satiny, slick walls engulfing him, electrified nerve endings thatopened new blood vessels, engorging him to a stiffened state that allowed himto pump harder, faster and more deliberately as he strived to bring her toorgasm. Seeing Julia beneath him with the afternoonsun pouring over her golden blonde hair only made him that much more determinedto become the master of her body he had always dreamed of being. She was hisand he would please her in every way possible.
AMAZON FIVE STAR REVIEW:
5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down!!!, September 25, 2011By Liz Velez (Dallastown, PA USA) - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Flesh Wounds (Kindle Edition)I may be only able to give this a 5 star rating here, but in my heart it was a definite 10! Couldn't put it down, but when I was eventually forced to I couldn't get it out of my head. Fell totally head over heels in love with Dylan only 1/4 way into the book. AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ! Bravo to Mrs. Badillo for thinking out of her "box".

Don't Mess With Texas...

OR a Texas author for that matter!!!
Recently, an author I have had the pleasure of being associated with through my local RWA chapter in Houston Texas, has been under fire from the Texas Department of Transportation.
While I've been supportive of the author, Christie Craig,  and her book, aptly titled, Don't Mess With Texas , I have been appalled by the barrage of attacks she and her book have been inundated with as of late.
The Texas Department of Transportation, or TxDot for short, filed a lawsuit against Ms. Craig, her publisher and well, just about anyone within spitting distance of the romance novel, stating that titling the book with the same words as the trademark logo for TxDot, made the state of Texas "look bad" and was against the law or some legal mumbo-jumbo most of us just don't understand. (It's not the legality of the situation I don't understand, but the entire lawsuit, really)
TxDot has even gone so far as to label the romance novel, PORN!
Really?
All of that is beside the point and should have been mute, especially after a judge in Austin ruled on the case last month stating that the author nor the publisher had infringed upon any trademark rights because "book titles" do not fall under the same laws and regulations pertaining to trademarks and even said, to paraphrase, "she could mess with Texas all she wants."
Well apparently TxDot didn't like the ruling, have rounded up their posse and has continued gunning for Christie Craig and her infamous gang!

I, on the other hand, have been reading the blogs and listening to the "behind the scenes" conversations and have a few things to say regarding this entire ordeal, and for those of you who regularly follow my blog, you know I rarely put in my two cents worth...until NOW!

Listen, this book is ROMANCE, not porn, and trust me, I know porn when I see it.
After weeks of this back and forth arguing and poking sticks at what should have already been a dead horse, TxDot has dug in their spurs and triggered a whirlwind of controversy over nada...(that's Texan for nothing.)
If you do a little research and compare apples to oranges...(which FYI, if combined, is a tasty treat) then you will see the difference between how the this "trademark" has been used elsewhere and in much more provocative and in some instances, insulting ways. Below, I offer some examples of what I found when I "googled", which I am quite good at....

This was found by a fellow author, sold by TxDot, blatently displaying the "Don't Mess with Texas" logo and since my blog is for the adults, if you look closely you may find the bulge at the bottom very interesting.
These thongs would really get in my crawl...pun intended!

Moving right along...
I found this associated with a website...ahem....well let's just say that I cannot elaborate and at this point am pleading the fifth amendment. Just more proof the lengths I will go to show how absurd this lawsuit is against Ms. Craig.

Not to be outdone by real "Porn", we should add a little something straight from the desk of Texas Governor, Rick Perry....you know, that guy who's running for President in 2012...
Excuse me, Governor Perry, Have you and Newsweek been included in the lawsuit filed by TxDot? Or are political adds excluded from "Trademark Infringement" when the candidate has such good hair and a dashing smile?

Yeah, I'm having a little fun with this, but only because this next "Don't mess with Texas" poster actually brought tears to my eyes.

TxDot, did you sue these people?
I don't know where you were on 9/11, but I was right HERE....DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS, when our nation was attacked ten years ago and whoever used MY states logo for this poster has definitely OFFENDED  this Texan!!

Christie Craig is an author of outstanding character and morality. She wrote a romance novel filled with humor and romance and most of all, love.
When this Texas born citizen sees the cover of that book, I am PROUD and in no way offended.
In fact, I would much rather see a romance novel with "Don't Mess With Texas" scrawled across the front, than any of these other logo affiliated items.
If you would like to weigh in, feel free to leave a comment, better yet, if you're just as outraged as I am concerning this "witch hunt", send a "Don't Mess With Texas" postcard (or if out of state, any postcard will do) to the Texas State Capitol in Austin or TxDot  and let them know how you feel about it. They keep records of complaints and with any luck and a good measure of common sense, the powers that be will get the message.

Sherounded the corner of the doorway to her bedroom and stopped dead in her tracksto find the shadowy silhouette of a man standing in front of her closed window.Allat once, the candle blew out. McKenzie gasped and instantly turned to run, buther feet twisted beneath her. Her voice seized, thwarting her attempt to scream.Only sparse puffs of air mixed with whimpering shrieks, nothing more than thehiss of a kitten, escaped her lungs. McKenzie'sfeet straightened and just as she reached the bedroom door, the figure from thewindow suddenly appeared in front of her, forcing her to come to an abrupt haltand stagger back.

ONE VAMPIRE, ONE WOMAN, ONE CONTRACT, ONE WEEK TO PLAY.Candi Hartz, is a romance author in aloveless marriage. One fateful night, she follows the cheating husband to thelocal vampire sex club and meets the vamp owner. Her life takes a drastic turnwhen with one kiss she enters the world she only read about.Gregori Van Zant isa dangerous vampire. As the head of the Mid-Atlantic Blood Family of vampires,he can have any vamp or human woman at his disposal. One night, a captivatingwoman walks into his club and he devises a plan.Thetwo lovers come together and sign a contract—an exchange of sex for research.Candi is born to play and Gregori is anxious to show her. An old enemy ofGregori's arrives unexpectedly and disrupts their plans. With a final battlelooming on the horizon, will the two fated lovers find love eternal or willdeath play a part?

ADULT EXCERPT::Gregori pushed open the door tohis bedroom and carried Candi across the darkened room to the bed. He eased herdown at the foot of the four-poster bed and took a step back. "Undress," hecommanded. His voice low and velvety. He smiled, seeing rebellion cross herexpression. Standing back, he crossed his arms. When he flashed a wicked smile, she dropped her head in compliance.Through narrowed eyes, he cast hiseyes on her with strong intent as she untied the twists and wraps of the dress. The fluid pink-colored fabric cascaded down her shoulders, over her hips, andpooled at her feet, leaving her in stilettos, bra, and lace thong. Tremblingbefore him, either from fear or anticipation, he wasn't sure. The thumping heartbeatpicked up pace and he suspected the latter. She may be nervous, but he sensedthe arousal.Slivers of moonlight filteredthrough the slats of the plantation shutters on the Palladian windows, paintingher creamy flesh with silvery light, an incandescent glow glistened in an auraaround her. The beast within him became aroused, demanding release. The visionof her beauty both startled as well as summoned. She looked like an angelstanding in the dark, wearing bra, panties, and sinfully sexy high heels. Fuck, I'm so screwed! With a slight cough, he clearedhis throat; he spoke with control and domination in his tone. "I stated thisdownstairs, but I'll tell you again. In the bedroom, I am your 'Master' and youwill address me as such. You can call me 'Sir' as well, but nothing else ispermitted and if you disobey, you will be punished. Do you understand?""Y-yes, sir," her voice squeakedout."Good girl. So, Katje, do you like the dark or light?""I don't understand what you'reasking, sir.""Do you like to fuck in the darkor have the lights on?""I, uh, don't care, sir. Whateveryou want.""Katje, I didn't ask what you think I want. What do you want? Answerme with the truth.""I-I prefer the dark. It's betternot to see."He wondered why she preferred thedark. Was she self-conscious of her skills or body? Both? Didn't she know shewas a beautiful woman, lush curves, and soft flesh to mold his hands around, and kiss forever? Again, the beast within begged for release, but he pushed thedemon down. Tonight he wanted to test, not frighten her. "Katje, we'll stay in the moonlight for now and we shall discern howyou like being restrained…as I touch you." He took a step toward her, lithe andpredatory. His fingers wrapped around her wrists, pinning her hands with onehand, he held them behind her back as he cupped her cheek with his other hand.He captured her mouth, hard andpassionately, like he'd kissed and savored the taste of her lips for the firsttime. Their tongues fluttered and surged one against the other. She struggledto free her hands, only she couldn't, he tightened his grip preventing anymovement. With the heat of her arousal tugging at his own, he tapped into hermind. The thoughts of shock from his restraint overwhelmed her, confused by thedesire to continue. His mouth moved down the side of her neck, teeth scrapinggently on the skin at the pulse point, giving her goose bumps. Oh, the call of her hot blood burns in myveins. Such a delicate morsel, this one is.Again, she tried to move. Andagain, his fingers held her in place. The scent of her arousal enticed hisnostrils. Sliding his free hand down her abdomen to her thigh, her bodytwitched. When he reached the mound between her legs, she gasped in his ear.The flood of her juices confirmed all the evidence of the depth of her arousalas her scent enveloped his senses. As he guided her back onto the bed, helifted her onto the soft mattress. Her breathing quickened as she came to restat the edge. Raising her hips, he slipped the tiny thong down her legs andtossed it aside. Standing straight, he pulled the black turtleneck sweater overhis head, and revealed a broad, muscled chest, tapering down to the corrugatedleanness of his flat abdomen. Realizing her thoughts were still confused despiteher body's arousal, he slowed the pace. "Katje, first of all, this time between us is for pleasure. I may be your mastertonight, but trust me to know how to give you the pleasure you deserve. Can youdo that?" His eyes were intent, knowing they glowed red in the semi-blacknessof the room. She nodded. "You won't spank me…ortake my blood…or anything that hurts, right?""No, Katje." He stroked a finger down her cheek. "Any physicalpunishment I hand out will be for another time, but only if you disobey. I takeno pleasure in hurting you. I will tell you this, the pain enhances thepleasure."Her muscles relaxed beneath hishold. "Okay, you're saying I'd ask you to punish me for my pleasure?""Yes, pain and pleasure are twosides of the same coin.""I-I can't believe they're thesame.""You'll come to learn, mijn schat. Pain sometimes is necessaryto free you from the chains you put on yourself. Tonight is purely forpleasure, forget everything else. Your body will yield to me and your surge indesire will come around to wanting more. But if you become too frightened orare somehow in unbearable pain, you say the safe word…Pink." He shook his head, and continued, "If you use your word, everything between us will stop, so don't use it unless you need to quit ourplay. I will be exploring your limits. You have to trust, I will keep yousafe."Her body relaxed as his eyes met hers. HisKitten realized she had a way out and the understanding of the situation, theacknowledgement he wanted. Pleased with the non-verbal response, he proceeded.

Cynthia Arsuaga

Thursdays, Thursdays, oh how I love Thursdays!! Why??
Excerpt day, of course!!
Today we have a little somthin', somethin' from Cynthia Arsuaga's novel, Born to Play!!

One night, a captivatingwoman walks into his club and he devises a plan. The two lovers come together and sign acontract—an exchange of sex for research. Candi is born to play and Gregori isanxious to show her. An old enemy of Gregori's arrives unexpectedly anddisrupts their plans. With a final battle looming on the horizon, will the twofated lovers find love eternal or will death play a part?
Excerpt: "When one is in love, one always begins bydeceiving one's self, and one always ends by deceiving others. That is what theworld calls a romance." ~ Oscar Wilde
With a few flutters of hereyelashes over azure eyes and the upturn of lips, she hoped he might mellow andbe less angry with the earlier comment. Now was the time to turn on femalecharms. Years since practicing the art of dating ritual tactics, not that sheever was an expert, she wasn't sure if the female human mystique even worked onvampires. Hell, this was the first vampire she even met and totally out of herrealm of expertise. He is cute though. Can a vampire be considered cute? Her gaze swept the bar behind Gregori, any direction except at this beguiling vampire. Then she took another sip ofwine to continue the distraction. At this rate of drinking, she thought, someone might have to drive her home. Whatthe hell am I doing with this…this man, 'er vampire? Oh good golly, am Iflirting? I'm too old to flirt. Another shiver ran down her spine. Fear orarousal, she couldn't tell.He snickered. "You're making thatup, right?""What? Oh you mean my name. No.No, my name is Candi Hartz. And don't look at me like that. It's not a stagename. I'm not a…you know.""No, I don't know.""An exotic dancer. Stripper. I'mtoo old and not good looking enough for the job."Leaning closer, he said, "Okay, this is obviously your first timeand you're nervous. How about I call you, hmm, Katje."The word rolled off his tonguewith such ease. Did he call all his female human prey pet names before he didwhatever vampires do? "Huh, what is that a foreign word for a scared littlecat?"He laughed. "Not quite, but closeenough. You are very funny." He ran fingers across his cheek. "I asked youbefore but you didn't answer. What brought you here, Katje? The sex or a fix?"What? He thinks I'm here forsex or drugs? She slowly turned to look at the vampire named Gregori. "Uh,neither actually." She looked away, scanning the room for any sign of Ethan.Nothing. But she couldn't take her eyes off the man, 'er vampire. Cute didn'tquite describe him, gorgeous did. When he smiled two deep dimples appeared oneither side of his upturned mouth, just like the hero in her last novel, Tomas, her flamboyant flamenco dancer. But, Gregori didn't hail from Spain or wearbolero jackets, that fact she could make bank on. His chiseled features, pallidskin, and long hair that fell to the shoulders reminded her of the Spaniardthough. Gregori's silky black mane could pass as almost blue being so dark andthe color complemented the eyes of silvery gray. Oh those eyes, they were sharpenough to pierce steel with a single glance and were set in a face of classicalbeauty. Good golly, he smells delicioustoo. Fresh and cool like vanilla…and what is that other scent? I know it. Whatis it? Like a forest. No, a fresh-cut Christmas tree. Yeah, that's it. Hmm,nice. She sighed and slightly slumped in the seat."So what other reasons would therebe to show up to a vampire bondage and submission dungeon scared half out ofyour wits if not for sex or blood?"Sex or blood? A fix is blood? Oh good golly vampires, of course. Hit mewith the stupid stick again! Did he say bondage and submission dungeon?Vampires yes, bondage no, no, no. Continuing to scan the club, she answeredmatter-of-factly to retain composure, "Research and you." Lying, she consideredthe statement harmless, a little white lie. She really did need to do research, not necessarily specifically on Gregori Van Zant though.Sheena returned with Gregori'sdrink and placed the snifter on the table. "Anything else Master Gregori?""Would you like another wine, Katje?" he asked."What's that you're drinking? Astrange color for cognac or is it brandy?" She leaned over to take a closerpeek at the liquor in the glass snifter.Gregori's brow crinkled. "I'mimpressed. Yes, it's our house special, a special blend made from CognacParadis laced with blood. Vampire blood. A taste perhaps?" He lifted thesnifter toward her. What? "Umm, I don't think so. I tried cognac once and it didn't sitwell. It's definitely an acquired taste for those with an iron palateespecially if, um, blood is in the mixture. I think I'll stick to the whitewine, thank you very much." She righted herself in the seat."Another white wine, it is,"Sheena said, winking at Gregori as she turned to leave.Gregori's smoldering silvery greygaze pinned Candi's attention. "Why are you researching me? Who are you really? You don't exactly look likea bounty hunter or even a newspaper reporter.""Aren't you a smart vampire? What can you do, read my mind?""As a matter of fact, I can."What? She glared at him and swallowed hard. Is he kidding?"Well, you need to stop doingthat. Didn't your mother tell you it's not polite to spy on people?""My mother died when I turned twoyears old. I don't really remember her.""Oh, I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean…""It's all right. It happened along time ago."They sat in silence for a few longpainful moments.Sheena returned with the wine."Thanks Sheena," Candi said andsmiled."By the way, I'm not kidding. Awoody blend of pine needles and patchouli. I think that's what is written onthe cologne bottle."Candi's brow crinkled. "Huh? Pineneedles and patchouli?" A tingly, warm sensation rippled across her skin. What? What is this guy doing to me?"You couldn't figure out what the other scentI'm wearing. It's vanilla, pine needles and patchouli. Do you like it?" He gavea wicked, boyish grin.

Cynthia...please, take it away.....
Hello,I'd like to thank Robin Badillo for the invitation to guest blog. My name isCynthia Arsuaga, author and host today. Also with me in the studio, I have thepleasure of interviewing Candi Hartz, the charming and successful woman andlead character of my fourth full-length novel, Born to Play, second book in the Born Vampire Series. Creating Candi was an absolute joy to writeand according to my hubby, Mike, Candi is very much like me. Not too sure aboutthat, but I guess in a way, all my characters have a little about me in them.
Candigraciously joined me today from her busy writing schedule. Taking a break fromher busy new life with her new lover, Gregori Van Zant, she's working on hernext story to be published. Gregori is furnishing all the material she needs towrite from the vampire's perspective. How lucky is that? Insight into thelifestyle of vampires and BDSM. Hmm, nice and with that I'd like to introduceand extend Ms. Candi Hartz a warm welcome.
CYNTHIA: Hi, Candi. Welcomeand thank you for stopping by. I know you are one busy lady.CANDI: Thank you Cynthiaand a thank you to Robin too. It's my pleasure.CYNTHIA: Let's get down toit. Tell the audience a little about yourself, what is your background? Who is CandiHartz?CANDI: Okay, where shouldI begin? I'm currently living in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I'm one of thoserare natives, born and raised. The area is a very transient town, with themilitary being a big influence in the area. My earlier career path took me downthe road of a Trauma Nurse and about eight years ago I began to write romancenovels. Fortunately, I was married to a successful pharmaceuticals rep whichallowed me the leisure of writing full-time. And then I suspected him cheatingon me and by chance I met my new love.CYNTHIA: Ah, interesting.Your life's path has taken a rather diverse course. Although, I should talk, mine has zigzagged in different directions too. Can you tell the readers howyou came to meet Gregori?CANDI: Of course, my vampirelover's businesses are shall we say for lack of a better term, sex clubs, vampire sex clubs. As you already mentioned, his name is Gregori Van Zant. Besidesowning the vampire sex clubs, he is the Master and Commander of theMid-Atlantic Blood Family. Some consider him dangerous and evil, but he has asofter side I fell in love with. I met him quite by chance. I was perfectlycontent doing research on the Internet for my next book, but I began to suspectmy husband was up to no good when I found a business card in his pants pocketwith the name of the vampire sex club. I followed that low-life ex-husband onenight and met Gregori instead. The next night, my Ethan, my ex, informed me hewanted to become a vampire. At the time, I was unaware he made a deal withGregori, and I ended up negotiating and signing a contract with Gregori, research in exchange for sex. Sounds bizarre, but in the end everything workedout.CYNTHIA: Yeah, I'd say. Notthe typical romantic first meeting.CANDI: I know, but it isa very long story and you should know, you wrote it, and the readers need toread how things turn out on their own.CYNTHIA: *snickering* Iknow I did, didn't I? Well, can you tell us just a little peek of how you endedup with him?CANDI: *snort* You'refunny. Let's see, we did spend a rather interesting week together,, that wasthe length of the contract. I don't want to give too much away, but I ended upselling my book and I'm writing the second in the series. I'm happy with theway everything has turned out. I may have lost a husband, but I gained awonderful new lover. What more could a girl ask for?CYNTHIA: Ahh, yes I know. You're such a naughty writer Candi. Let's change the subject since you're notgoing to divulge any of the juicy details. I have some fun questions I wouldlike to ask all my characters. What is your main fault or vice?CANDI: Hmm, good question,Cynthia. I guess if had to admit my faults, I'd say I'm compulsive controlfreak. I plan everything, how I write, cook, dress, everything. Gregoriunderstands completely and when it comes to our bedroom life, he takes completecontrol. It is so refreshing and I feel more complete than I've ever felt. Iwas married to a very selfish man for over ten years who never gave me thatfreedom. With Gregori, it is so different. He believes in me and loves me forwho and what I've become. I truly love that man.CYNTHIA: Oh, that is sweet.Okay for the last question before a set of quickies. Do you have any plans foryour future you'd like to share?CANDI: Well, I have beenworking on the sequel to my first vampire story. I also understand that our newEnforcer, Boulder McCoy, who by the way is one hunky cowboy vamp, is going tohave his own story. I'm sure Gregori and I will have cameo roles. What do youthink Cynthia?CYNTHIA: Oh, I think thatcould be arranged. Anything else in your future?CANDI: I'm also thinkingabout doing a little redecorating of Gregori's clubs. Nothing major becausethey are very nice, but they need some updating and I'm thinking something inshades of pink. I love anything in pink. He doesn't know it yet, so I have tobreak it to him gently. *snickers*CYNTHIA: How exciting. I'dlove to see what ideas you have. Okay, enough of the serious questions, let'shave some fun with the round robin answers. Which do you prefer, Satin or Lace?CANDI: Satin, I love thefeel on my skin.CYNTHIA: Denim or Leather?CANDI: Denim. I triedleather and not my thing. Give me a comfy pair of jeans and a T-shirt and I'mhappy.CYNTHIA: Oh, I agree. Whatwould we do without a comfortable pair of jeans? I have a pair for every day ofthe week. I digressed, so back to the questions. Thunder or Lightning?CANDI: Lightning. Love thepatterns streaking across the sky.CYNTHIA: Dark eyes or Lighteyes?CANDI: Dark, steely grayones.CYNTHIA: The sound of aheartbeat or a crackling fire?CANDI: The sound of a cracklingfire snuggled up with Gregori at his beach house.CYNTHIA: Coffee or Tea?CANDI: French RoastCoffee.CYNTHIA: Chiseled jaw lineor chiseled abs?CANDI: Chiseled abs tolay my head on.CYNTHIA: High heels orflip-flops?CANDI: Hmm, I prefer barefeet, but Gregori likes me in heels, stilettos and the higher the better.CYNTHIA: Mountains or Beach?CANDI: Beaches of course, walking hand-in-hand with Gregori in the moonlight barefoot in the sand!CYNTHIA: Rain or Sunshine?CANDI: Sunshine, but withGregori, that's impossible.CYNTHIA: Picnic in the parkor dancing in the club?CANDI: For a romanticevening, dancing at one of his clubs. A picnic with bugs and creepy nightcreatures is not appealing. Besides, Gregori doesn't eat because he's youknow...CYNTHIA: Well I think I'llend this interview on that note. I want to thank you so much for visiting withus Candi. Those were very interesting and colorful answers! We had a wonderfultime sharing this conversation and learning new facets of your personality.CANDI: Thank you Cynthiaand to Robin for opening up her Blog, SealedWith a Kiss, to us today. It has been my pleasure! I'll look forward to areturn visit and maybe I'll bring Gregori with me next time.CYNTHIA: That would bemarvelous. I'm sure the readers would love to meet him and listen to his sexyaccent.
